Finished migrating to the new forums so I figure I should migrate my painting thread as well, kicking things off with a shiny new Sally: And some of the stuff I painted up to run a proper Vanilla Nomad list:
@LunarSol What a wonderful job/work you have done on these minis. I have found another great thread to watch/follow.
Thanks for the kind words! Just moving over the rest so I don't lose them: Nomad Group Shot Lupe Balboa & Corregidor Alguaciles Corregidor Alguaciles Corregidor Intruders Corregidor Jaguars and Senor Massacre (totally not Deadpool) Corregidor Remotes Mobile Brigada Corregidor Support Bakunin Doctors and Remotes Tunguska Stuff
Beyond: Icestorm Wildcats Corregidor Troops Civilians Note: The analyst there is doing very important work
That red is shockingly vibrant dude - probably because it stands out so well compared to your deep blacks. Very well executed, dude.
Been far too long since I updated this thread. Got some new Nomad stuff: Finished up my Riot Grrls: Another Brigada plus an operative of the fully independent and in no way associated StarCo: Plus some characters and general troops:
@LunarSol They look wonderful. Do you have any tips on painting the skin and hair of a model? I'm trying to get better at that aspect of the process.
I don't do anything particularly special for skin. I just use Citadel's Kislev as a base and change its tone with a wash before highlighting with another coat of Kislev. Generally I wash with their Fleshshade, but sometimes using Sepia or something for more of an olive look. For darker skintones I generally use PP's Idrian instead of the Kislev. Think of it like the way skin works, where the color underneath tints the actual fleshtone more than anything. Mostly though its just patience. I paint the eyes far too large and then go back carefully to draw back on the face around the eye. Hair is mostly a matter of experimentation. Bright colors are in some ways easier since they're inherently less natural looking. I'm bad about trusting this, but generally speaking hair takes significantly lighter highlights and drybrushing well. Generally speaking the hardest thing to get used to is starting with a color you don't like and ending on the color you really want. For example, I didn't do it here, because for some reason i don't trust that it works even when I know it does, but Emily would really look better if I had used an orange instead of a yellow as the base coat.
@LunarSol Thank you for the information. I'll be sure to remember it and jot it down for future reference.
Thank you for the offer. I'll do so if need be. How about Avicenna's hair? What recipe did you use to get that color?
P3 battlefield brown. Washed with agrax earthtone and highlights with P3 bloodtracker brown. Highlights are mostly just getting a bit of paint in the side of the brush and barely touching the hair to hit the raised parts.
Small addition, but I can finally run my usual StarCo list without a proxy. Went with the Ultimate Spiderman costume scheme. I think darker pants helps quite a bit:
Been far too long since I added anything to the painted list, but Tunguska is finally ready: Also wrapped up StarCo for the most part:
Wanted to get this finished for N4, but looks like I'm a week late. I have a few Corregidor models left to paint (until the updates arrive) and then it'll just be Bakunin:
