Hey I have read the tactica and been pondering over these units for months now. I can not seem to find a list where I would include them in Hassasin. Kameel feel to expensive and leila muyibs or leila ghulam just feel better imo. I am mostly asking because im thinking if they would be worth buying, its the only models i am missing for hassasin. I am going to a 5 round tournament soon and have no idea about opponents so I cant take govads because I know im playing vs odd / camo etc. Any thoughts or input? Do you often field them, and when you do what type of missions and lists do you take them in? Any help greatly appreciated :)!
Which Kameel? I guess I've put my take on them down in the Tactical Guide to HB, but to recap: basic Baggage Bot is first of all a cheap Regular Order. If you have brought a Hacker already, and you do have a free slot in a Combat Group, getting a Regular Order for 8pts is a reason enough. Kameel TR is IMO a misunderstanding. I wouldn't bother with an TR Baggage Bot in any army I play so far - HB, QK not CJC. Kameel EVO has some serious utility applications, but the chance of using them in a Bahram army aren't really worth taking it IMO. As for Govads, they work fine for a long-range support, though this puts them in the role typically occupied by Ghilim. Howeve,r you can take them as a Haris, which counts for something! Also, being Veteran, they provide you Regular Orders in LoL, so you can afford an aggressive Lt without immeidately having to back him up with a CoC Farzan (still, Haris might be a lil' skimpy for that application). Alternatively, just kit them out and use as better Ghilim ina na offensive role.
Oh completely forgot to mention which Kameel, I was mainly thinking about the EVO. And yeah I completely agree with the TR Kameel it is a very wierd profile. Yeah I guess the Haris option is the most attractive one, what is your opinion on a defensive sniper nest? (2x Sniper 1x Haris) Or wouls you rather 1x ML and 1x Sniper?
I don't think Govads have the staying power to be a defensive Haris, I'd go for HMG+shotgun/khd+Haris for an aggressive wrecking ball that's good at any range, their visor means they can hunt things that would give Ghulam or lone models trouble.
@Stur definitely have a ML in the Haris. It can deal with well-armored targets, and the Blast mode is excellent for groups (especially Fireteams on the move!), or for targets in Cover. @colbrook if it works for you, then it is good. As for defensive use, Bahram has no access to a better (as in - more resilient) defensive Haris anyway: the only other Haris we can field has to be buildt around an Asawira Spitfire, who might be resilient - but won't really do as a defensive trooper. So I'd say it is a moot point.
I use Govads Core a lot, i have too much camo/odd on my meta, and we use visibility zones too, that way MSV1 is a much better skill. Besides that, Govads is is best long range core for HB, they're murders, way better than Ghulams. Normally i use them for long range superiority and use others to play objetive and flank rotes
Not very keen of defensive haris myself but when I field one, I go with haris + 2HRL Muyibs. Dogged just give them the staying power they need w/o SSL2. Definetly I'll gonna try a defensive Govad (2 SR + Haris) soon: in Power Pack they must work perfectly and they're very cheap SWC wise. Govads for me, almost 100% of the time, means the long fire rambo HMG or offensive haris (Haris + KHD + HMG) to hunt camos and push through visual mods where a fiday or ragik can't reach. I can see the point to field the lone Govad SR if you can't afford the 1,5 SWC for the Lasiq SVR and still want the long ARO piece. The +1BS, MSV1 and Religious troop is a good upgrade from the SR Ghulam. The EVO Kameel in this sectorial is rather outshined by the Barid/Ghulam HD or doesn't reach the full potential as other more REM oriented sectorials: the only increased AVA from vainilla is on the Rafiq, wich doesn't synergize that well with Overclock; not enough IPs in the sectorial to justify Reboot and no shenanigans needed to field a Fireteam:Duo via Teampro here either. Also, you don't have access to the sweet Kaplan engineer in Hassassins and you get one less 8pts REM to include in your army. It's a no-no for me Edit: I forgot to mention that you can build a 4 Ragik Yolo list, there the EVO Kameel really shines :tonguewink:
Well sounds like im going to invest in some Govads hehe, probably a good option to have for a 2nd list incase I run into Shas/Bakunin/Phalanx at the tourney :D. As for the EVO seems that we share the opinion on them not being to great in bahram :D. Thanks for the help everyone!
I have used a offensive Govad Haris to great effect. HMG/KHD/Haris can get work done. I usually in that case make a full defensive of Ghulam as well with Avicenna as backup with a helper bot to follow Govads. Very interesting list would never have thought of it my self, and appreciate the input! I probably would change the combat groups up abit maybe put the haris in grp 2 and move the farzan's and a single mutt to grp 1. What is your take on that :)?
Its half-dozen of the other. The core link is not going anywhere, so its 5 orders to put into whatever you want. First assault element being the Fiday, second being the Govads. The Govad haris would be fine with less orders if it was defensive, but it is offensive so it wants orders.
@theGricks alright I see hehe, I think i am going to give this list a spin actually try something a little out of my comfort zone :). You never wish you had more orders for either Farzan or do you only use them as semi stationary speedbumbs?
That is deffinitly a good point on the Farzans, but I rarely use the Farzans offensively. They usually push a button or drop a mine and that is about it. Mostly that group is devoted to providing the mutts with orders to be disruptive. But of course playtest and see what works out. You could put avicenna in instead of the FO Farzan so he has more wiggle room for objectives. This list is not short on specialists though so you have several avenues of advance. You can also drop Avicena for a Cheaper Ghulam doc, and drop the Ghulam FO for a normal ghulam and take another Kameel for even more orders.
Farzan is a mite fragile, alone out there in the field. Once out of Camo, they tend to die easily. Of course - if you notice an opportunity for a Farzan to strike and unmake the opponent's plan, go for it. But he's better off hovering there and waiting for that opportunity, while other models do the heavy lifting.
@theGricks good points. Though if im going for more orders id probably get a Fanous instead of a second Kameel. Its just so good :D. @Errhile True! And I suppose I am not marching a Farzan up the field in any situation. Except for maybe T3 objective grabbing, which in that case he will most likely be in the main order group if it has come to that :D In any case I will test it out when I get time and report back how it went, if you would be interested in hearing about it :)
I love Govads, I just think its a good unit in the same sectorial as Muyibs. NOTHING compares to Muyibs and their toolboxyness in this meta of button pushing. In Quadrant control, and kill missions I always take Govads.
I'll just say that i'm really fond of fielding solo HMG Govad, which is a HB budget version of Djanbazan. Always nice to have something that can hunt CH ARO pieces. Back him up with Nr2 troop and Harris radio (if you wanna run Ghulam deflink) or make into core link. Kameels, well, i'm using Fanous for that cheap 8pts reg order, so i can see only one scenario where i would use it - Muyib link packed with dispoasable Panzerfausts.
