I want to use the Tuaregs. The new models looks so good, especially the sniper girl. But I have such a hard time fitting them into most lists.

In theory, they should be good. I've struggled against the TO-cammoed Proxy Sniper more than any other trooper in Infinity. She's locked down entire boards for me, and generally been an enormous nuisance. But she costs much less than the Tuareg and is much better, with No Wound Incapacitation, BS13 and multi sniper rifle. So I can't expect that level of performance from the Tuareg. And there's also the fact that Infiltration + Mines doesn't have the best synergy with a sniper rifle.

What about the rifle Tuareg? It feels like TO cammo and Burst 3 should make her able to win almost all face to face rolls, but she'd have an enormous glass jaw to templates. Could this profile perhaps work as an aggressive assault piece?

The doctor profile is interesting, but demands that you know exactly on what line you're going to advance, so the doctor can pop out and heal other models when they go down. It could be effective in conjunction with a board-control focused Fiday, perhaps? Or just to get your Muttawi'ahs back up and running.

The hacker is certainly useful, but I don't like the vulnerability to killer hacking that the Tuareg has. If I want an assault hacker, I'd often rather take the Ragik, who is slightly cheaper but can land anywhere that's needed, and has Dogged.

    What do you think?
How do you use the Tuareg?

I have used both the Hacker and Doctor. The doctor is a great specialist midfield that is also a threat. She can fight her way to her patients. The WIP15 AHD is also no joke and has locked down many a hi or tag. When I use the doc she usually supports mid field units while a Ghulam Doc supports back field units. She is placed central in the table.

I have also used her in conjunction with the Tuareg Hacker to give a double surprise. Since I used the Sniper model body, and ghulam doc arms, my head canon is that they are a couple and always deploy together.

Here is a list I have used effectively:

For me, it is precisely the TO camo state of the Tuareg that negates some of the danger from killer hackers, which seem to be pretty prevalent out there. Dogged on a Ragik would seem more useful if you were using him in shooting FTFs as a rambo. You probably will be hacking out of LOS most of the time anyway so dogged will be less useful for an AHD.

I find the sniper loadout just okay, I mean I would take it out for fun from time to time, but as an ARO piece the Lasiq is just more efficient.

Tried the doc as Tarik support, and worked out fine a couple of times. Tarik is pretty fragile as a rambo piece after all. At least the Tuareg is still a very good button pusher if she can't accomplish her personal Tarik revive mission for some reason.

As a side note, comparing anything to Posthumans is going to leave you disappointed. I'd advise forgetting they even exist.

A big strength of the Tuareg is the option to have both a Specialist and a Shotgun on the same model. TO Shotguns are Fireteam killers (even in ARO!) and the +6 offsets their low BS. Most factions have to choose either Shotgun or Specialist.

As for the Sniper, deploy her as far forwards as you can on the extreme opposite flank to the enemy heavy hitter(s) if possible, the idea is to get a shot at the enemy Rambo's back once they cross the middle of the board. The Tuareg Sniper also keeps her mines (not all Skirmisher snipers do) which allows her to defend her forwards deployment.

Tuareg Medic midfield means a healer that can reach a downed Fiday, a wounded Tarik/Fasid, or a number of other rambo troops. She also has a rife+shotgun, TO, and good BS... place her inside the short range of an enemy Total Reaction, and enjoy imposing a -12 to the little bot (-6 for TO, -3 for Surprise Shot or cover, -3 for bad range on the HMG!).

Same as above. Doctor or Hacker troopers are great with high WIP. Doc is good as you invariable are not far from midfield troopers should you want to revive. But more than once I've used their TO shotguns to wreak havoc before or after flipping buttons, so that is not to be underestimated.

Personally I find really interesting the Tuareg Doc.
Very often, when I play Haqqislam, I've many models beyond the enemy lines ( Fiday first and foremost) or out from my lines, an advanced doc with WIP 15 could solve many problems, not forgetting that it's however a specialist with high WIP and TO Camo, it's also amazing if you wanna support aggressive models like Tarik.

Don't you guys find the Assault hacker to be a liability? It seems almost always when I play, people have TO-cammoed killer hackers midfield. It feels like, whenever I'd field him, the Tuareg Assault Hacker would get brainblasted straight to heaven.

It is nowadays quite a worrysome situation, since a lot of factions have more and more KHD, and they like to deploy them hidden. You also are already exposing an AHD with the Hawwa, so...

Since Human Sphere I dont use them anymore. Their main purpose was to hack threats in reactive and most of the time I only got one ARO and then a Killer Hacker or Repeater moved int ZOC and fried him.
Yes, Carbonite with WIP 15 eems like a great ARO, but he always gets killed.
So it is the Doc or Fo (Hawwa) now. Mutts and and heavy Weapons now fill their role.
For Hacker I only use Barids and Leila these days.

I only use the hacker against MO. Doctor is the one I use most. Good as a traditional hidden specialist or a support for an assault. Sniper has been useful on occasion too, especially against LI links.

I like supporting Halqa groups with the doctor. Able to pick people up after using an invisible shotgun to get there revenge for them is a handy skill set to have.

I don't have problems with using my AHD in the current meta. I usually run an AHD and a KHD and since we have hunzakuts, I just make sure a I have a repeater down, so I can brain blast any KHD's that come out.

In my experience, a Deployable Repeater is an invitation for KHDs to kill your Hackers. He will do that in active Turn and therefore have the Burst to do a lot of damage. Especially, if you have a Barid Lt.

As many have said here, the Tuareg Doctor is invaluable as a reliable doctor that can start midfield and get those usually hard to get to forward units back up. They are a great asset to have, also, surprise shot with a shotgun shouldn't be underestimated.

Also, my favorite thing to do with a Tuareg Hacker is surprise hack, which through my skimming I didn't see anyone mention here so if they did, well consider this a reinforcement. Any camoed hacker can surprise hack and it's great having one that in TO camo'ed making their hackable units more of a liability with that WIP 15. Also again, shotgun from TO is brutal.

I don't use camo snipers really unless it's my Cateran in Caledonia. I see them mostly as one trick ponies and don't tend to use them but they are good at disposing of certain things that are bothering you and TO snipers not only have range but TO as well.

I've found some really solid success with the sniper actually. I pretty much will always push the infiltration to my opponent's half of the table into a really nice snipers nest (hidden deployed, of course) so that she can pick off a juicy target when it presents itself, and then she's got mines to make it even more difficult to dig her out.

If you fail the roll, you have a TO sniper in your DZ, not a bad deal.

Doesn't the infiltration roll give away some of the surprise of TO? Or is that part of the point, to play those mind games?

Sure they know that something (a tuareg, if their familiar with Haq TO options) is somewhere on their half of the table. But chances are, they assume it's a hacker or doctor rather than a sniper. And even if they do guess correctly, they still don't know where the is, which means you're still going to get shots off and they will still either waste orders being cautious, or trying to root it out of HD. Either way, a win for you.

@mittenninja, you really assume that risking a roll with only 45% of success is not a bad deal? With a unit costing 33pts and 0,5SWC - if we're talking about sniper?
I really don't see anything good in pushing him so close to the enemy, especially with that kind of weapon. And failng the roll makes him stay in your DZ in contact with the edge, so almost for sure without a cover.
    Not a good idea.
    Really.

If I take such a fragile and precise unit I try to maximize of it chances to success. And for me sticking a gun with such high range close to the enemy's rifles isn't a good tactic.

Sometimes I decide to not risk deploying Djabel into enemies DZ with his 75% chances of success.
You can push your Daylamis close to the enemy, but with Tuareg it's at least a bit weird for me.

I prefer Tuareg AHD or Doctor, staying in their half, waiting to act for a good time. They are great specialists and can work miracles if used good. And careful. With BS 11 and 1ARM they won't win every firefight, so they should choose wisely their targets.

I can definitely see the point in a HD sniper deployed deep in the enemys half of the table. When the time comes, you can shoot enemys in their backs. Almost as good as Yu Jings Sniper Tiger....such a powerful tool.

But on the other hand that 55% chance to fail and land on a deployment Zone edge is really bad. On top of that she loses her Mines and is not camoed anymore. Thats why I never get over myself to risk an Infiltration roll.

Most if the time you'll be able to deploy out of lof even on a table edge. And if there isn't a location where you could deploy it safely on a table Edge don't push the infiltration.

Why would she lose her Mines? The only thing that anyone would lose for failing infiltration is mines deployed with mine layer, which she doesn't have.
