Well, I finally assembled my Qapu Khalqi and put them on the table. I've got quite a few Nomad Batreps if you're interested, so I figured I'd keep the threads separate. If you're just stopping by for the first time, I tend to write up a post-game analysis at the end of each batrep about things I can improve on, and things that worked well for me. With that, enjoy my first game with Haqq ever! Qapu Khalqi Quintessential Kickoff Mission: Capture and Protect Forces: QK versus USARF (300) Thanks for stopping by!
Glad you're enjoying! I think I'm going to be playing the same list for awhile longer, mostly due to work getting in the way of hobby time. I'll claim that it's to get better with QK and learn the army, though! Here's the next in the series, also against USARF. I see them quite a lot these days. They project a high-threat density coming from lots of different vectors. Difficult to cover all contingencies in deployment, as well as balancing between AROs and hiding. And you always have to honor Van Zant. Quixotic Kennel of War Dogs Mission: Supremacy Forces: Qapu Khalqi versus USAriadna Ranger Force (300) Having a lot of trouble with dogfaces in all varieties. I think I've decided that the answer in armies with an MSR is linked MSRs and in armies without an MSR it's flash pulse bots and FOs. That and HMGs in active turn.
Busy season at work is winding down, so I managed to get in a game recently... Played on a new table with Difficult and Very Difficult terrain rules. They do change the game up a bit, making link teams a lot more static and skirmishers much more valuable. Hope you enjoy! An Island Adventure Mission: Power Pack Forces: Qapu Khalqi versus USAriadna Ranger Force (300)
Some more bad luck for my opponent in this one... need to buy @TheDiceAbide some new dice! Druze - Wet and Wild Edition Mission: Power Pack Forces: Qapu Kalpi versus Druze Beyram Security Tried out an Odalisque core this time, was pleasantly surprised by their performance. Not really indicative of their true capability, as this game was really just down to dice... The Druze are pretty cool. Initial impressions are 1) they encourage you to clump models because you can make a mega fireteam, but it's a trap 2) they want to go first. I'm gonna put together my own boxes of Druze at some point--hopefully you'll see them out of my QK soon.
Great terrain! What dimensions are the blocks you are using? Whats your oppinion on this blocks - do thei have the right dimension in gameplay? Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
Hey there, my WIP post for this table can be found here: https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/thediceabides-island-table.603/ The islands are fairly tall, the foam is about 3” thick, so they block a ton of LOF. After all the scatter and bridges there is quite a bit of cover.
The terrain does a good job of LoF blocking. The board is quite slow-moving, as you have to stop every time you enter the water (unless you have terrain skills), and you're using your second movement value for most of the surface area except the top of the islands and the walkways. That said, I didn't feel particularly exposed or anything on the board. It just requires careful attention to detail and more use of smoke (sorry PanO) cautious movement, etc. It plays differently than a regular urban board, for sure, but it's not a drastic play difference. It's a nice change of pace, forces you to try out weapon systems that you may not use regularly. Our meta sees a fair amount of snipers and missiles, but if yours doesn't this board encourages their use. You can't totally dominate the board -- @TheDiceAbide totally had my Djanbazan dead to rights, were it not for his bad dice rolls.
Been awhile since I posted here and I felt like my QK needed some table time. Been meaning to try out the Iguana out of QK and it seemed like a good DataTracker for Rescue, so here we are! Braving the Quagmire Killzone Mission: Rescue Forces: Qapu Kalqi versus USAriadna Ranger Force (300) I'll eventually run out of "QK" battle report titles but I'm gonna keep trying! Hope you enjoy!
I'm back, this time with a vanilla Haqq batrep! I was trying out a crazy bumrush the AC2 like it's Black Friday and TVs are on sale in Looting and Sabotaging trick... It sorta worked but man is it clunky. If anyone has any better ideas I'm all ears. Black Friday Rush Mission: Looting and Sabotaging Forces: Haqqislam versus Japanese Sectorial Army (300) A lot of mistakes in this game, on both sides... and a lot of luck, also on both sides. Major salient points: Mutts are dumb, Al Fasids are good, and Yojimbo is a holy terror on wheels if you land all your smoke rolls... Hope you enjoy! A big thanks to Daniel for being awesome and for a great game.
More Looting and Sabotaging practice, this time on a table rife with terrain rules! Lots of saturation zones, difficult Aquatic terrain, and eye candy. @TheDiceAbide has really outdone himself with this table. Much Ado About Nothing Mission: Looting and Sabotaging Forces: Haqqislam versus @TheDiceAbide 's Ikari (300) Good to face off against some Ikari too! Very rude faction, but as we all suspected a little specialist light.
@Brimat My photo workflow is all on my phone. Remember to take pictures. Use the Prisma app to apply the "Tokyo" filter at 50% opacity (or whatever the right terminology is). Use the Photo Talks app to make all the speech bubbles and sound effects (this takes quite awhile but is a good lounge on the couch with the lady activity). Upload to Wordpress using the Wordpress app I've used other Prisma filters before, but Tokyo gives me the most comic book-like effect, so I keep coming back to it. Hope this helps!
More Looting and Sabotaging practice for Rose City Raid. This time against Combined. Djanbazan Biceps Mission: Looting and Sabotaging Forces: Haqqislam versus Combined Army (300) I'm starting to hone in on the Haqq list that really fits my playstyle, although I still think Corregidor can field one of the strongest lists for this mission. Jag Core + McMurrough + Bandit + Lunokhod + Double Intruder is hard to beat for raw power. Season to taste.
Different friend wanted to play Looting and Sabotaging in preparation for Rose City Raid, which is this weekend! I'm sure you'll hear all about it from @TheDiceAbide. This game was a doozy. Friend wanted me to play my QK because he's never faced them before and wanted to see what the fuss was all about. As I built the list I found out very quickly that our only options for the AC2 are some pretty meh CC scores and D-Charges or DA CCW Yuan Yuans, which I rely on to get other stuff done... Managed to steal his Jotum though! It doesn't go the way you might think... Quagmire Killzone 2: Electricpulsealoo Mission: Looting and Sabotaging Forces: Qapu Khalqi versus PanOceania First time with the Druze core on the table, and I like it! I might try Sekban if I have to practice for this mission again though. Just to see if they're a better fit.
Well, @TheDiceAbide is moving out to the suburbs and getting a minivan so he threw a last showdown (1 round) tournament at the Portland Game Store to say goodbye. I took it as an opportunity to tick the "play Haqq in a tournament" box (finally!) and put Tarik on the table with 2 extra orders. We did it limited insertion, just to make things interesting. Not a huge turnout, but @Zelaponeepus and another of our newer locals showed up to give @TheDiceAbide a good sendoff. Frostbyte ITS Showdown Tournament Report Table A - Haqqislam versus Combined Table B - ALEPH versus Imperial Service I really dig the showdown format as a way to get tournaments in that are still super brain-burny but low-impact, from a time commitment perspective.
Took two random Haqq lists to our monthly ITS tournament, and was pleasantly surprised at how fun it was to play them! Nuclear November Tournament Report Game 1 - EVO Phone Home Mission: Supplies Forces: Random Haqqislam versus TAKGame 2 - Bye Game 3 - Random Rumble! Mission: Acquisition Forces: Random Haqqislam versus @TheDiceAbide's Random Combined Army Not the best performance I've ever had in a tournament, but I learned a lot and definitely and excited to come back for more random lists!
