Aleph has access to flat out best (although not cheapest/most efficient) Forward Observers in the game. How about leveraging that to the maximum? Dasyu FO, Posthuman FO, Posthuman AHD, Deva AHD - all of these can do Forward Observing or Spotlight with the best (although Spotlight is in general far too weak). Orders aplenty. Only thing I lack in the list is decent assault weapon, but that can be handled by either replacing Dakini MULTI Sniper with HMG, or maybe some other point shifts. What do you think? In my opinion any FO-heavy list without Daleth is incomplete. Like your list very much. Daleth is cool, but I really wanted Dasyu FO for that sweet, sweet Surprise Shot TO Camo FOing (although Surprise Shot might no longer be applicable due to FAQ). I'd also drop the TR bot in favour of Dakini LGL (purely SWC speaking). I mean, Smart Missiles are great, but one advantage of LGL is that you can position the template without centering it on target. :)
Oh yeah, Dasyu FO is very solid. Long story short, creating OSS list feels to me like entering a very, very big toy store with just a medium-sized basket (or wallet). You just can't fit in everything you want... edit: alternative would probably look like this. I don't like losing the second CSU, but something just had to go... Aren't you allowed "not to center" template with Guided Missle too ? (even when firing at "targeted" target)
There is no such exception in the Guided rules. Speculative Fire explicitly allows you to fire off-target, otherwise you must always center on the target.
Hmm... if you were willing to live without the Dasyu that was the whole point of altering the list, that second one could ditch it to get a Specialist CSU back, either the one you had or the Breaker Combi rifle one, and spend the remaining points on a BSG Garuda (Effective BS21 flanker!) and maybe a second Yudbot for the Mk1, if you took the Riifle+LSG CSU. This whole setup also makes those Assault Hacking Devices scary, since I had forgotten the Targeted state gave +3 to Hacking, too - when you use the Deva in the Fireteam, that's a possible WIP21 even before any mods from a program, on an AHD that has an excellent answer to enemy Hackers in its Upgrade.
Because despite being a cool concept, guided weapons are more of a gimmick, than a viable tactic. You’re basically spending two orders for one shot - and spotlight has less than 30% chance of working, so unless you’re running Daleth/EVO/Sat-lock, you can’t reliable Target models without exposing yourself, and isn’t that the charm of it all. If you want to reliably use a Samekh. Consider the EVO for Reboot and negating the -6 Sat-lock penalty. Alternately. I fooled around with this for Steel Phalanx, where linked thorakite FOs get bonus to burst, and a bunch of cheap cheerleader specialists posed a threat.
Guided missile artillery is good as a backup plan, as well as a way to deal with bunched up fireteams and other unit clusters (it's terrain-dependent, they do happen). And if there's no opportunity for it SML makes for a good ARO piece, especially with supportware on. That's why I like the lists like my first one, because depending on circumstances I can either mark a target and use second group's orders to shoot a few missiles, or advance the Deva/CSU Duo towards an objective. Samekh isn't expensive, having it as a backup doesn't hurt the list.
Only thing i keep seeing in OSS lists is kill two Dakins and you might as well play vanilla with one hand tied behind your back because you limited yourself on unit selections.
Silliness. Bring a dakini link, a csu duo and an Asura/Deva Haris, and the easy way to prevent you from reforming a core link is to kill 4 of the dakinis.
This is just theory crafting that wont have any meaningful practical application if you want to actually win a game And if i dont bring any infiltrators why just not go full Phalanx (I understand that there is an Aesthetic preference but im just talking about game play)
I've yet to get my Operation Coldfront models, so I suppose it is, in fact, theorycrafting. As with most thing so far. But, in terms of a practical list, build a Dakini core, and then add a CSU duo for 23 points. Decent cheap specialists on their own, and order fillers in case the link goes down. Why would you not do this? In terms of bringing this theme force without infiltrators, it doesn't seem like a binary choice. The reality is, all theme forces are limited in model selections, and can suffer if you break their core team. This one less so.
Just one can be a order filler. Because you cant have two CSU in your army fireteam. Thats why I mostly just add one. Even if you are right... they are so cheap!
