So, I've been looking at getting into Ariadna after I get work done on my Yu Jing and my store's Tohaa army painted, and I've been considering either Caledonia or Vanilla (and a big part of vanilla is the Blackjack). One of the big reasons for looking at Caledonia, and Ariadna in general, is just how gosh darn good the Mormaer looks. However, the problem with the Mormaer is that he also looks to pack a profile that's mediocre on the best of terms (unless I'm missing something, and I hope I am, but it really looks like I'm not). And against the Kazak, it's a pretty sad comparison. So, being a strictly worse version of a Vet. Kazak, I'm wondering if anyone would consider it poor form to use a Mormaer as one regularly (permanently, basically) in vanilla lists.
I've been using a Mormaer as my T2 Rifle VK, never really causes confusion, although a few people have surprisedly exclaimed "you're using a mormaer?!" when they see the model before I tell them. Given there's no modern T2 Rifle VK, whose to say whether it's more accurate to proxy with the wrong weapon or the wrong base unit?
Well, Coldfront will have a rifle VK, so accuracy isn't really a point to make anymore. It ends up being a purely aesthetic decision at that point, really.
AP Rifles (the one in Coldfront has this) and T2 Rifles are decidedly different looking weapons these days, but the fact the difference doesn't mean much to you is kinda what I'm getting at. Different people have different expectations for proxies, for me, having the right weapon and looking like the right class of troop is more important than actually being the right troop, others would rather use the right troop and say "this hmg is actually a Feuerbach" or what have you. Basically, it's a personal thing, but as long as you aren't doing anything too confusing nobody should be upset.
I converted my t2 rifle mormaer into a vet kazak. Never had any issues with him on the table. Will even use him after more vet kazaks drop just to keep more poses on the field. The armor is extremely close to one another
