Hallo people i bought "AVATAR STALDRON" model in my local shop https://store.corvusbelli.com/products/combined-army/280686-0681-avatar i bought all the armies for infinity except Ariadna (because i hate the slimy guys i lose to all the time ;D) but if i was to pick one favourite army of mine, i must be have been Onyx! (not Combined Army, just Onyx) The guy selling me "AVATAR STALDRON" told me with a perfect poker face that Avatar is going to be playable in Onyx Contact Force army at some point in the future. (he said something along the lines that "corvus belli will be releasing an update making Avatar playable in Onyx Contact Force"). i bought it immediately because it looks like a bigger Xeodron Batroid and it makes every perfect sense fluff-wise for it to be in the Onyx army, except that ... it is still NOT in the army. https://army.infinitythegame.com/ My question is as follows: is this absolutely spectacular "AVATAR STALDRON" model going to be playable in the Onyx Contact Force any time soon or far in future? Or was i a victim of a predatory shop owner before the Christmas time (oh mine, when i write it down, it does sound unpleasant ;/ ) I really do hope, the guy gave me the good information. Cheers!
In case the Avatar is NOT going to be the part of the Onyx Contact Force , would you be so kind and choose models from the list below which would go along the "AVATAR + STALDRON" in a 300 point army list? I would really be thankful for the advice, because my experience with playing this game is in inverse proportion to the amount of money spent on the miniatures :) Apart from "AVATAR + STALDRON", i also have: Onyx 300 points starter pack a pack of 4 Unidron Batroids (plasma sniper rifle, K1 combi rifle, missile launcher, spitfire) Xeodron Batroids ikadron batroids + imetron combined army support pack (Med-Tech Obsidon Medchanoid + 2 Slave Drones) Shasvastii Corax Spec-Ops Special Operative Ko Dali Fraacta Drop Unit (boarding shotgun) Fraacta Drop Unit (spitfire) Shasvastii Corax Hasht (from Dire Foes Mission Pack 5) Noctifiers (spitfire) Umbra Samaritans (combi breaker) For the sake of completness, the content of the Onyx 300 points starter pack is as follows: Umbra Legates Fraacta Drop Unit (combi rifle) Maakrep Trackers Unit (multi sniper rifle) 3 Unidron Batroids (plasma carabin) E-drone Q-drone 4 Rodok (these are my least favourite models) Thanks a lot! This isn't really a rules question. It probably belongs in the Combined Army subforum. Unless someone has more information than what's public, the Avatar is not slated to be playable in Onyx. It seems you got swindled into buying a (truly intimidating) model. I'll leave the list analysis to others with more experience in vanilla CA.
You do use the Staldron ancillary unit in Onyx, as the Remote Pilot for the Overdrones and Xeodrones. However, atm no Aspect of the EI is present in Onyx, and I doubt they will be soon, since they still would need to resculpt the Skiavoros (he doesn't really need it) and the Anathematic (he DOES NOT need to be resculpted. NO! Bad Corvus!), and even then... why? About seeing any aspect on a Sectorial, well, they would go on the UR sectorial, but consider the next one to be released is the Shasvastii 2.0, so you might be in for a long wait there, unless CB deecides to release some closed battle lists (like the Svalarheima's) for the EC with an UR Intelligence Gathering Taskforce (hint: they don't so much "gather intelligence" as a spy would understand, instead they gather "intelligences", as in "sepsitor the enemy, get their info. And them aswell!).
Thanks! The model is indeed awesome, and if i can use Staldron as a remote pilot in Onyx force, thats at least some reconciliation. whats is UR sectorial? what is aspect of EI (emotional intelligence?) no, you dont have to answer what is CB :D
A planned fourth Combined sectorial, dedicated to Ur, the race (?) behind events that brought together EI faction as we know it. A platform for a small piece of EI's consciousness (Evolved Intelligence, an advanced AI that controls CA and entire faction behind it) dedicated to personal supervision of task at hand. An "avatar" (no, not the TAG, although that TAG happen to be a EI aspect too) of EI, if you will. In gameplay they are guys with G: Mnemonica. I think...
EI is the Evolved Intelligence, the Alien Aleph that directs the Combined Army. The Aspects of the EI are... bodies directly controlled by a shard (or part, or...) of the Evolved Intelligence (Aleph's ones are... all but for the posthumans and common troops to all other human factions XD, even the Greeks, which are "raised/programmed" to have a degree of humanity so they are not as predictable), this means all CA (Combined Army) troops with the Mnemonica skill, so the Avatar, the Charontid, the Anathematic and the Skiavoros (the first 2 have been recently resculpted). The UR Sectorial would be a sectorial based on the aspects and umbras, the Ur were the "humanity equivalent who created the Evolved Intelligence", but all that civilization has ceased to exist as such, becoming part of the EI (it's a mix of Babylon 5's ending, the Ur looking to trascend to a higher plane of existence but not being able to, and the Hyperion book collection from Dan Simmons, where the AIs ran "into" the brain of the people, it's just that the EI absorved the mind of those Ur into itself aswell). More data avaiable on the background books (avaiable only phisically) and the RPG game (but I think it doesn't cover the aliens in depth... yet)
