You don't have to deploy them hidden through

But if you do, you can freak your opponents easily out forcing him to move extremely cutious avoiding threats that are not even there.

Naga Minelayer is the beast reason to take a Dasyu instead a Naga.

Not really. It’s remarkable how few guns, you actually need to win this game - besides, Aleph have such awesome cheerleader options in daikini and thorakites, that even our cheerleaders can make an impact.

Another thing, a cunning opponent might know, that you’re missing a good chunk of points, but this doesn’t mean, that he knows, what they’re spent on. AD, Killer Hackers, Mine carriers, they all pose different threats.

    Naga minelayer...

I have a story :) a friend of mine who knows I use him always... I deployed the Naga as if he where the mine and the mine as the trooper, he even announced it, this is the mine and that is the trooper... He moved his fireteam of preta and gakis to avoid the radius of detonation, so I said... Next order, he moved again avoiding the detonation zone (it was quite clear he was outside) and then bump bump the shotgun is fired!!!! When the dust is settled all have died or dogged :D

And with the MK2 is even better

Monomine naga has some unique treatening ability- having a chance to make any troop to go up in a puff of wire is extremely psychologically effective.

Nagas are cheaper. Pretty much one extra order cheaper.

That there is the main reason. It is one extra order on a faction that sometimes has difficulty fiealding a number of orders.

Another point - a *lot* of what you face in this game has shock avaliable. Dogged or NWI are both equally useless. This is doubly true when you are operating on the midfield, since all mines have it.

That is also another very strong point - Naga KHD has mines, Dasyu does not.

If you plan to use your infiltrator as a disposable attack piece, the naga has everything you want in one. Insurance against critical, enough attack power to handle most anything, a camo state and mines to protect himself after he does what he has to do. BS 12 + camo is enough to win 95% of the ftfs in infinity on the active turn, especially combined with surprise shot.

If I need a hacker midfield, it is usually a assault hacker to stop a rambo / pain train. Mk2 does that much better than the Dasyu. If I need a KHD, I bring a Scylla - she is probably the best KHD in the whole of infinity due to the shanenigans you can pull off with cybermask + her bots, even if her atributes don't look like much.

You also have to keep in mind that sometimes having a camo in the board is a nice way to discourage someone of getting somewhere. Yes, you could put a TO there in Hidden Deployment and it would have a better chance at killing the enemy, but many times you do not need to kill stuff, you just need to make it harder for them to get where they want to be. And that is especially true if your camo is in a position where the only decent way around it involves being very close - where a mine would trigger. Forcing the enemy to waste orders is a very strong skill by itself.

Dasyu I will usually look at FO and Boarding Shotgun profiles. FO is great - flash pulse covers up the bad rangebands, and it is a infiltrating wip14 specialist. BSG is fantastic for ruining someone's day and crapping over link teams. Sniper is useful, but again, MK2 does it better.

Naga BSG is a nice disposable attacking piece with minelayer, and the FO is a nice specialist that comes out costing 1 order less than a Dasyu. Now with Dart I see less reason to use a attacking Naga, as she does pretty much everything the non specialist Naga did.

It doesn't get mentioned or taken very much, but the monomine Naga can be useful in certain metas. I played a number of games against expensive HI links a few months ago, and they proved quite effective. First turn spent running the Naga up, dropping a mine around the corner, and forcing the link to deal with it or be shredded on their first turn is a pretty effective way to lock up lists in Limited Insertion. However, the monomines do feel overpriced if your opponent isn't bringing out the really big, expensive, armored guns. It's a meta pick - if you're unsure, usually better to go with a KHD or Minelayer. All three of these do their job better than the Dasyu, in my opinion. Mirroring what has been said many times already, the FO Dasyu is the standout profile - sometimes, having someone in Hidden Deployment midfield right by an objective is all you need.

Weird thing: Proxy Mk. 2 AHD profile does the same job, will not drain the order pool and cost much less...

Not at all, Mk.2 is rather bad as area denial - he has no mines and just a BSG, compared to a flash pulse, mines, and the ability to do suppressive fire at -12 to hit.

    Against hi links:
Naga monomines plant "corner mine" (where the hi cannot see the Naga but when you put the mine it have the enemy in detonation zone)

MK2 gets closer and hacks "for free" the enemy.

Or Naga boarding shotgun shows himself and pump the link

But there really isn’t any reason to make the choice, when you can do 3 nagas, 3 dasyu and posthumans - and throw in Dart for good measure.

Totally legit for LI missions... can deploy as 9 camo markers... feels almost like ariadna... except they'd have like 20

This is oddly similar to my usual Shasvastii lists (except for the hidden ML Noctifers and the nasty Specullo Killer). I might try it once Vedic gets unlocked.

With Sforza in the mix for OSS most of missing points can be covered. At least to the point that theyre looking for a garuda instead of some dasyus.

Nagas exist for the shock army. :P

Actually, I'd say the 27 point minelayer Naga with shotgun is really amazing and well worth its points. Yes, its a bit expensive but it sure can dish out damage for its cost.
