I've been wanting to add some extra focus to my urban/spaceport table in the form of a semi truck or two, but I've not had any luck finding anything that fitted in with Infinity's style. I've tried modding modern trucks without much luck, and while I like puppetswar's Pegasus vehicle, it's a bit chunky and chubby to fit in. Spyker's papercraft Grizzlor is a big step in the right direction, but a little fragile for gaming use. To that end, I'd like to ask the amazingly talented folk here for any ideas or inspiration! I'm looking for art, ideas or possibly even models that fit the idea of infinity's sleek cyberpunk style. Concept trucks, or unusual modern trucks, one-off customs...anything!
I don't have much to add about the concept itself beyond linking to an image search (which i admit is not much help), but wanted to add something. The many old tables still using Topo's models beg to differ, as long as you print them on cardstock instead of plain paper they should be sturdy enough as long as you have some care of not crushing them on storage and transportation, doubly so if you reinforce them internally with some foam, not to mention i've seen people cut them on plasticard, which should be far more resilient. If you do decide to give paper models a try, the Genet Models archive should have plenty to use, i suggest giving some consideration to power loaders and dropships too (in that case, there's some here plus the UD-41 dropship from here or here depending on color preferences).
I remember a TV show from the 80s called The Highway Man where the action was set in a "non distant future" (ie put enough scifi options but keep the props budget low) Here is a google image search. You could also have search inspiration in series like The Thunderbirds Spoiler Yes, I'm that old.

Can I hijack this a little bit? I am working on a "USA wastelands" table set in North America, old earth, using some of Sarissa's Retro Americana buildings together with current vehicles from Antenocitis Survival and the "Walking Dead" ranges. The justification being that parts of earth reverted to older tech patterns after the collapse of the US and yada yada. Also, because pickups and motel ruins in a desert setting=cool AF. Think Appleseed Alpha... HOWEVER, finding a proper US 18 wheeler (with long hood and all) in 1/45-1/60 scale seem damn near impossible here in Euroland. Have been looking at the Pegasus one as well, and might have to resort to it, but would really like a big Peterbilt or Mack one instead... Does anybody have any hints? Preferably cheap toys instead of fiddly and expensive model kits... //P
Ertl makes some 1:64 scale rigs that usually can be found for less than $20 on ebay and Amazon. Slightly small, especially compared to some of the new sculpts. 1:50 scale are more expensive but better scale wise, but $30-40 on the low end.
Would paper do? Use thick or card, and reinforce from inside with more card or foamboard, as you see fit. I ran across an Avengers themed hot wheels truck at Walmart that could make a good tractor unit with a repaint. Sufficiently curved for a "future" aesthetic, just remove the edges of the bed. Size is just over 2" wide.
I can second using papercraft, I have used papercraft patterns extensively in my tabletop scenery, and have been quite pleased with the results. There are tons of papercraft resources if your google-fu is good. I can however share a few bits of advice. Good papercraft models are hard to assemble. If you are going for the highly detailed ones, they are every bit as technical and difficult to assemble as other miniature sets, yet use a slightly different skillset. If you don't like building fiddly models, you probably wont like papercraft. Cardstock for assembly is a must, If you want survivable pieces. But if properly built, they are no more fragile then other models, sometimes less so. My papercraft models can fall off a table, and suffer no damage, because they are so light. I have several pieces I have had last years, and I even transport them with my models, when I want to make sure I have enough terrain. Many papercraft projects come with preprinted 'paintjobs' which is great, if you like the design. You can always repaint them, or add detail if you want. Papercraft is cheap, almost free. But what you save in money, you are likely to spend in time. Assembly can be a slow and detailed process. Papercraft has a unique property of 'staining'. Greasy fingers and papercraft do not go well together. Last thing, papercraft has a slightly different look. They look fine next to the infinity models, but if you put a papercraft car, next to a diecast car, the two will not look cohesive. Either go all papercraft, or not at all.
