So main reason why nobody sane suggest TAGs in a CORE links is because obviously we do not exactly want to have BS18 AP/Shock DAM16 B6 weapons in game. (untill Nomads get BS15 ignore cover, B3 Plasma Fatality L1 weapon because Praxis) This is known, and quite reasonable :) But what if TAGs (mostly MBT PanO TAGs, like Jotum/Squalo) were allowed to actually link BUT WITHOUT FIREATEAM BONUSES TO TAG. (obviously TAG could benefit from advancing together with his "escort") Why would one do such a thing you could ask. Well why not advance use (eg.) Jotum as an Armored Spearhead to deliver some weak/fragile meat-bags into midfield ? Obviously all other members would fully benefit Fireteam bonuses (except for a TAG). At least from "cinematic" point it looks how PanO operations could/would work. Side note: would be cool if JOTUM got a "Armoured Shield" rule allowing him to fully block LoF during his MOV (but that could be too much rules hacking ;/ ). Mobile LoF blocker for days! (actually it would be worse than a Eclipse, but hey we are only PanO)

TAGs in a fireteam would make little sense, given how armored support operates in real life. TAGs being able to Duo with some of the Remotes, on the other hand...
I mean.. scarface can duo with Cordelia.. so it's not completely out of the question for others to do similar things. (And yes, he can technically duo with Valerya Gromoz as well, but that's an exception)
I mean I typically do this about 4 times per game in Vanilla. Coordinated Orders with a TAG as the spearhead are a great way to move some vulnerable models up the board while soaking AROs on the TAG. It does require a good read on where your opponent is going to direct his ARO - taking the unopposed shots from the TAG to shoot the specialist you are trying to move, for example. That being said, TAG duo links would be super nifty and for as much as I play TAGs, I would totally take an Engineer duo for my Jotum.
I mean, you can do this now. This is where my head is at. Infantry/Armour combined operations work quite a bit differently to how people expect/the cinema tells them that they do. Duo with Remotes needs to be more of a thing for PanOceania. Remotes in our Fireteams fullstop needs to be more of a thing for PanOceania. Yeah, no. This is, again, exactly the kind of thing I don't want to see.
It's a bit tedious. You move forward your link, try to leave a circle for your TAG, then your TAG moves forward, steps over the dudes and in between them. Okay, it's kinda possible. I'm waiting until Jotum or Cutter can be part of a sectorial with a Fusi core. Which one would be useful? Pathfinder for a specialist? Just a Duo? Our TAGs shoot well enough, I don't think there's anything that shoots better than them (BS15 + TO -6 + Surprise shot, just like a Swiss, but with MULTI HMG). What they need is some survivability, specialist support and some CC defense.
