And a Panzerfaust or DEP, TO Camo, 360 visor, transmutation (8-6 without C+ or his regular with C+)... Btt: but i would love some smoke and or eclipse... or nimbus+ in OSS even more if its on one of the rems with ava 2+, like a pure smokescreen REM... im dreaming again, dammit ...
Speaking of, assuming the Apsara is good enough you definitely want one if you're going remote-heavy, but works in such a way you would only bring two (or more, depending on OSS AVA differences to Vanilla) if you want redundancy for if your first Cyberdancer is neutralised, then what are people thinking for their support suite? An EVO-bot, an Apsara, and a HD+ Danavas, along with a Daleth, two Lamedhs, and an Engineer with two Yudbots, as a start? Using a Proxy Mk1 as the Engie, the cheapest option, you're looking at 121 points of support, before you include any real fighting assets! Bringing more Hackers (maybe even switching the Mk1 to a Hacker and bringing a Sophotect or something), to punish any enemy scriptkiddies going near your precious REMs adds even more to the support budget, and every point spent on Support is one not spent on things to shoot the other guy. Although you've got seven orders to help you Rambo after buffs are set up, and quite a bit of this support works as specialists for ITS, so there's that... Throw in a Dakini Core Fireteam with some Yadus to stiffen, a Spitfire Deva or two, a Shukra for CoC and CounterIntel, maybe a couple Camo Specialists for buttons or a Zayin for TR capability, and a Rudra or two... viable list?
The Rudas has drawbacks but also has the option of supportware a Reactive B2 mine dispenser or that multi rifle with marksmanship shouldn't be underestimated, sitting half way up a wall to avoid being stabbed also isn't bad.
@RecklessPrudence: We'll have to wait until OSS arrives to check if we'll have enough points to cram it all in (I have a feeling we'll need to compromise a lot), but this is exactly the kind of list I like to play and I think OSS will be very nice in this respect. And I can't wait to see my opponents faces when their Ghazi or HI links will meet Yadu.
I actually really like playing lists like that too, where there's a whole lot of support elements that add up to making the combat elements that much better than usual. The only problem is, I'm constantly unsure of where a good balance is, so sometimes I spend so much on combat multipliers that there's barely anything for them to multiply, while other times I spend so little because I'm trying to pare it down to what's effective rather than what I think would be cool, that it's as if I have none at all - there's not enough for them to really get started making the shooters more dangerous.
That's why I like units that can do both. New, upgunned Asura hacker made me really happy. And I do hope Sophotect will end up in OSS, hopefully under its proper name. Posthumans and Netrods should also help us flesh out both aspects, combat and support, while having enough orders to power it. I expect OSS to operate at 11-14 troopers most of the time, with Shukra making enemy keep his Command Counters, so we won't be losing two orders too often when going first.
I would rather the mine over the DT weapon. Mine tricks around corner with a buffed Multi-rifle is just nasty
The stragic advantage of a Gunbot might be lower than that of a Hollow. The tactical advantage in Aleph is enormous as it has a Mine Dispenser and can thus close off attack vectors. Camo, TO, Mimetism, ODD, NWI 1 W model, Fiereteam. Throw a mine somewhere close that will and watch your opponent cry inside. Sendt fra min VTR-L29 med Tapatalk
Oh man! I hadn't even thought of that! That unit ought to be able to tank shots to get into a reasonable position to do the dirty too.
The Morats needed something as the intimidatig Space Monkeys were a joke. In a game about toolboxes it's a hinderence to have a shallow one. Sendt fra min VTR-L29 med Tapatalk
In an hard to spam army closing off approaches for the enemy surrounding you is gold. And if the enemy do try they have to divert manpower to do so. Which lessens the numerical advantage they have by either limiting some models, or forcing to brave mines, this allows you to concentrate your more elite models against his spam. I play PanO tell me more about being shallow ;P (though MAF seemed for a newbie opponent shallow and mayby not that powerfull at times)
PanO has a significantly larger toolbox than MAF. PanO: Infiltration, TO, MSV 1-3, Forward Deployment, cheap, easily disposable Heavy Flamethrower, ODD, Mechanized Ddployment, AD 3, mines MAF: Infiltration, Mimetism, MSV 2, AD 3, mines, Super-jump and now Mine Dispenser. MAF is about as subtle as a hammer to the face. Though they should have a Mech Deployment Fireteam given thier brutal blitz tactics. Sendt fra min VTR-L29 med Tapatalk
PanO is a faction, MAF is a Sectorial. Get back to me when Combined Army has fewer tools in the box than PanOceania. ... ON TOPIC: I think there is enough value in a 2-wound remote even before we consider other options. It will also give us a "cheap" HI option, which we otherwise might not have at all.
Well, I'm against "limited edition miniatures you won't be able to buy otherwise", since Dart is considered the Aristeia skin (the only other models who are both in Aristeia and Infinity are Major Lunah, Mr Massacre and Musashi, and they all have a permanent metallic model for Infinity...). As an aside, Dart and Andromeda are totally different troops, with totally different objectives and toolsets, so a) the list is not designed to include Dart or b) the list is... and including Andromeda means placing a square peg in a triangular hole :S Mine dispenser =/= chain colt and repeater =/= pitcher, but chain colt + pitcher follows a similar, if inverse, rate of use/order consumption than repeater + Mine Dispenser: The Hollow Men have no use whatsoever for a repeater (they are not remotes), aside from hacking protection (they can carry a tinbot and a hacker if they want in the fireteam), and they carry a template. The Rudra, like all Aleph remotes, does not carry a template weapon, but carries a mine dispenser AND a repeater (getting use from the repeater since it is a remote, and gaining a template weapon of limited uses). The Hollow has to spend an order to set up a repeater position (and can have more than one active at a time, plus can threaten enemy hackable units through walls without getting close), while the Rudra has to move itself. On the other hand, the Rudra has to spend an order to place a "template weapon", being able to have several at once on the table, and has both hacking defense and support. All in all, I say the package as a whole is similar enough, but not the same. If I have to build a list surrounding a piece, I doubt it will be the Rudra. A Rudra and an EVO are at least about 60-62pts and 0.5SWC... For that prize, I can place an Asura. Well, in Infinity an ODD is better than 4 points of armor... At least I *think* the Rudras will be linkable, but it seems to me that it will be a TAG situation about listbuilding: everything around a single piece. Maybe I was referring to the whole package instead of comparing a pitcher with a repeater, or a Mine Dispenser with a chain colt? I will simplify it: it's two juices I am comparing, not two pairs of fruits.
@xagroth the problem with mineD vs. colt is that there are almost no situations that actually call for one that can be replaced with the other. The main one is a juicy group to hit. I suppose there is dropping a mine instead of shooting when it is hopeless.
