If StarCo being a Nomads sectorial changes any assumptions or expectations then it is not good to think of it that way.
Not even close. They are the 2nd smallest of the big powers in game (ignoring NA2) - only Aleph is smaller in manpower pool I expect. In terms of total power potential, then they're still in same place, but Ariadna is the last place (ignoring NA2). Given that they only have ship habitats and everybody else has planets, I would expect even O12 to be bigger, but that's questionable.
Sectorials are for loosers (you could argue the reason Nomads have more ppl in infinity campaigns is due to being a smaller faction they provide less troops to fight combined on paradiso so can invest more in these smaller conflicts) Also CB id love for Tunguska to get a Dire foes box vs varuna, call it wetwork (made this joke before) but im trying to think what I would want from a spec of securitate, maybe a visor? or someway to mitigate warband spam somehow? Having an Oublietter as HVT.
And you sincerely think that's right? I'm serious here. Since HSN3 they have become what they weren't mean to be according the initial designs. Meanwhile the faction since day 1 designers descripted on forum (and I was there to read it) as "the specialists in HIs and CC" gets it's CC part hacked off and the sectorial that should be the soul of the faction still has no signs to be released 10 years later after HS release. From my part my patience has reached the limit. I'm putting this game in suspension until Invincible Army sectorial is released, and then I will decide if it's worth to continue playing or I'm done with this game. The latest batch of units seem tailor made by players rather than game designers and I'm afraid if some game testers are behaving "dishonestly" and having too much influence in @Interruptor in order to fulfill their wettest dreams for their favourite factions.
Sorry if it hasnt been clear. But I agree with you. If Grrls were a YJ link I wouldn't bat an eyelid. As a Nomad link they're oppressive. The same is true of Hollowmen.
I have to admit I love the new sectorial, it looks really fun to play and the Hollow Men speedrush unit is going to be no end of amusement to me, as is the Kriza dual-link rape machine (one of my opponents found that out the hard way). HOWEVER I do have some problems. Firstly, the lack of mid-field control. Where are the infiltrating camo markers, the cheap minelayers and the FO specialists? Spectres are extremely expensive and Hecklers are of limited use as the lose camo permanently once revealed. In most games I run a pair of Zero's but this will not be viable here. Secondly, the lack of ODD. ODD is a Nomad invention and yet only two units and one character in our army have it (and they are not very good units either). With Tunguska I thought we would see some ODD being given back to the creators of the device and yet not one single Tunguska unit has access to it, which seems really stupid to me. Its a Nomad invention, and out of all the Nomad factions surely Tunguska should be the big users of it? Thirdly, the lack of cheap smoke droppers. Morlocks and Jaguars are a staple for this reason as they are cheap and can drop smoke to cover the advance, and charge in with a chainrifle to really disrupt the enemies forces, or lock some pricey unit down in CC (bonus points for using an EM CCW), but Tunguska has none of this. Fourthly, the lack of cheap irder droppers. Combined Army get these, ALEPH gets them too. 4 point orders which you can drop in on the field at the start of the game. They are cheap, cheerful and add in much needed cheap orders to what is otherwie and expensive army. Tunguska gets none of this. All in all I think that Tunguska is a good sectorial with a lot of potential but it needs some work doing to truly finish it off.
Eliminating the weaknesses that balance the sectorial's strong points is not a good idea, to say the least.
Sigh. That's my point. Just because campaign is done in particular way, doesn't mean say anything about what the actual effects are. StarCo consists primarily of Nomad models/profiles, and in fact, not only can you make a list of predominantly Nomad models, you cannot make a reasonable list which is not predopredominantly Nomad. Hence, the real world effects are that StarCo are the 4th Nomad sectorial. Hell, even lore confirms it! They just pretend to be unaffiliated.
Yes. But it's also distinct. Just because something happens in StarCo doesn't mean that you can extend it out. StarCo is both part of Nomads and separate from it.
I'm sorry, but both lore and gameplay is clear - StarCo is Nomad sectorial. Gameplay wise, it is based on characteristic Nomad units and play more similarly to them (not the same, of course, it is it's own sectorial) than say USAriadna plays to vanilla Ariadna. Bottom line, Nomad players have access to 4 different sectorials.
I agree. I've been joking for weeks that I've finally played something that's 'not Nomads'. But that's still only half the story. They're also distinct. They don't work overtly for Nomad goals (rather it's indirect and covert) and they have distinct units (Brawlers for instance won't appear in mainstream Nomads). So yes it's a 4th sectorial option for Nomads. But no, it's not actually a fourth Nomad sectorial.
One change that id love, let us do perseus-hollow man-stemplarFTO/hollow man harris rather than spector, spector makes no sense in that link as he has no super jump to keep up
Nor does the Haris linkable Perseus FTO or the Stempler. The Stempler that links with Hollowmen is the Stempler FTO (has Superjump). The Stempler that links with Perseus FTO and Raoul FTO is the regular Stempler (no Superjump).
