No mimetism on something who can't dodge well and can't prone at all would be a bit sad :(
I hope they get climbing+, like our S3 REM. We could do very nice things with climbing+ and their good movement.
I want dakinis with SMG and Feuerbahr (ok, that would be a bit too fearsome)

That's a bit underwhelming... I always felt that having dakinis as line troops rather than the generic fusilier/ghulam/kamael etc. was a good way of giving Aleph a unique feel, and not just because these are REMs but because they are more mobile and have mimetism.

If I were wishlisting I would hope for something different, more akin to the karakuri project. More resilient while carrying more weapons.

To be clear, I am listing what I expect we get based on recent Aleph releases, not some kind of rumours or actual information.

What I would wish is completely different of course. It starts with removing/redefining Danavas, but I'm old enough to know Santa Claus does not exist.

as far as dakini go, I'm hoping it's just a resculpt and maybe an extra profile or two. They're nice enough already.

getting new bots or hosts on the other hand...

    or the fabled g:jumper L2...

    they are the interesting bits

We might get a starter resculp, it could use an update. The original Aleph box is pretty much an OSS starter already.

I see your prediction and add drop to 4-4 move... still stay the same price.

Wouldn't it be silly to have a "2.0" unit be a downright downgrade from the previous version ?

So if Dakini light lose mimitism... 4-4 movement... and all the rest...

Then surely Dakini 2.0 get ODD, 2STR, 8-6 movement HGL and HRMC profiles... full auto... fatality lvl 2... and might as well throw in engineer to self repair xD

I'd expect a major overhaul of the asura, upgunned to plasma rifle on multi profiles and multi on combined profiles with a new big gun, probably a Feuerbach for the quality over quantity theme.

What are you drinking, I want some :joy:

What's the last unit that got a meaningful, existing profile changes that upgraded them?

While I do agree on your point that the Danavas's profile could have been more steamlined & Alephised (NWI, pistol instead of rifle) you can hardly call the whole thing trash.

I start to wonder what CB did to you for you to have so little faith & hope.

EDIT : Would you happen to be a Yu-Jing player by any chance ?

While I agree profile in general is actually good, in the context of vanilla Aleph I maintain it is trash:
    • lore-wise, it screams Nomads and only thing even vaguely Aleph about it is Combi Rifle
    • it provides nothing new to the faction
      • cheap White Noise, which is okay, but otherwise it is a significant downgrade on Thamyris in my opinion
    • it creates unfavourable competition with two overpriced and borderline, but otherwise extremely Aleph profiles
      • Deva Hacker was already not used at all due to price, with Devas in general being overpriced for the extremely bland profiles they are
      • Asura HD+ does everything Danavas does, but much better - except it costs almost 3x, but doesn't do things 3x better, hence it downgrades my (dear) Asura HD+
Therefore, in terms of faction, it is a complete trash of a profile. If they simply changed the Deva Hacker profile to lose the Combi Rifle and gain HD+ and Pistol changed to Breaker Pistol I would be all over that thing immediately. It would have been a major plus all round (except for Asura HD+, yes, but honestly, that profile is garbage all on its own so needs updating in new ways).

Nope, don't play it. Although I actually like what they did with Yu Jing.

Problem is the way they approach old units that are printed in any book -- at best gain few new profiles and Fireteam options. The one that was actually updated (Kamau) lost the little that made them special. This does not bode well for either Dakinis, Devas, or Asuras - all units I hold really dear. Consider also profiles like Bolts, which despite being considered extremely useless have repeatedly been passed over for update.

On the other hand, new things we got for Aleph include:
    • Andromeda : lore-wise very Aleph unit, but due to combination of overpriced skills/equipment and S4 silhouette, unfortunately unfieldable,
    • Danavas : see above,
    • Drakios : actually an decent unit. Not OP, but certainly useable (although a bit borderline),
    • Garuda : new (awesome) sculpt, absolutely nothing new on the profile,
    • new Posthumans : this one is iffy. I love Posthumans, but they basically enable the faction to compete; i.e. you don't include Posthumans in the list because they are so good, you include them because otherwise you'd have a crappy list that is extremely limited in what it can do - and I don't want to see even more of this approach (just try and make a list without using Posthumans),
    • Scylla : not a good unit (I've had many discussions on why), but even if by itself it is good, it joins Danavas in not being particularly Aleph lore-wise. Nothing about her will make me guess she is Aleph, in fact (and again as Dananvas), if I just saw the stats I'd say "Nomads".
I mostly use Danavas for my expectations of new Vedic units : extremely bland additions that do not feel like the faction I chose to play.

As far as I can tell, nobody in the design/playtest team plays Aleph as (one of) primary factions, and nobody ever mentioned it is their favourite faction. Hence, I have extremely low expectations.

The problem i see with Scylla is that she is supposed to belong to the assault subsection, but her features, notably her wide repeater network, works far better with vedic operators. By the way, if the devas had a repeater HFT bot, that could work out too ...

If Devas had a repeater bot, that would be great. But they don't, do they.

As for Scylla, again, she's supposed to be a character but no NWI, no Nanopulser, WIP13... Am I playing Aleph or not?! Is this not a faction that has a WIP15 MSV2 TAG?! That has both Heavy Flamethrower AND Nanopulser? Or even the extra cheap Myrmidon comes with both Chain rifle and Nanopulser? Is it redundant? Hell yes. But it is the faction thing.

Could they be cheaper and thus more efficient if they did not have these things? Hell yes. Do I want them to? NO.
