With the change in ITS9 that means a command token can't be used to subtract two starting orders from a list with only one combat group, the chances of making an effective alpha strike with a heavy infantry link are much greater. Kornak takes that one step further with his strategos lvl1, giving the Morats 11 orders to really put the aggression back into MAF. Furthermore, when one of the biggest weaknesses of an offensive HI link is hacking, Kornak's link has two non-hackable members, while the HI themselves can be protected with a tinbot and already have high BTS, and that's even before the vanguard hacker puts up fairydust!

Round the list out with some specialists and utility stuff, and we have this:

I won the LT roll and of course wanted to try a first-turn alpha strike. My opponent was running two(!) Asuras, and they were holed up in a building with a posthuman bodyguard (later, I would discover, another posthuman in hidden deployment). Of course Kornak declared a ferocious, audacious, charge... throwing caution to the wind. Find out what transpired, on youtube.

The list building analysis before the batrep was really interesting to hear.

I particularly enjoyed this one, thanks as always for posting!

I quite like your house rule for doors.

I personally agree with your opponent regarding NWI and maestro, though I suspect as always the forum is divided on it. I wouldn't quite say it "replaces" the unconscious state, more that it alters it, so that when unconscious the model ignores the null state. IOW, imho an NWI *is* in the unconscious state, which is mechanically the same as your opponent's interpretation. But where we differ is that to me, at least, Goodnight is also a good way to get rid of NWI on a Su jian (since I believe NWI is an unconscious state and therefore vulnerable to goodnight). Even so, it sounds like your opponent got extremely lucky with his hacking ARO, managing to beat both the burst advantage and the firewall defenses of Bit to isolate her. Also I assume when you said "brain blast" you actually meant "sucker punch" since iirc that's universally better, but maybe i'm mis-remembering and brain blast has better burst or something.

I felt like this bat rep had everything: a jack-booted alpha strike, close combat, hacking, swings of luck, smokey button pushing, and a generally well-played strategy by both sides.

    Hi there Vaul!
Ever since I first found your channel on youtube I have been thrilled to find new, excellent content.
I especially appreciated your personal "style" or narrative. Compared to other you have a calm and methodical pace, and to be quite honest, it isn't the rapid rattling of dice that makes a batrep interesting, It's the thought-process behind it.

Cap'n'Kornak is an excellent video, and gives great insight into how a limited insertion variant can play out. So from your reasoning behind the list composition, to your thoughts on how to tackle enemy hackers and asuras huddling in a building, it's a great learning experience.

Speaking of your videos in a more general sense, I have a particularly fond memory of your thought-process in the game where you play DBS vs..(army: ? that has a krakot) and you have this elaborate plan with your deployment of Saito Togan, it blew my mind!

But of course I can't leave this comment with only praise, so it comes with a kicker:
The negative part about your channel is pure and simple: we need more videos! I started watching a couple of weeks ago and I have watched every single video, some of them two or more times.

    Keep up the excellent work!

Thanks for your comment, I enjoy making these videos but it's a little time-consuming and it's only for my own personal hobby/satisfaction so there will only be one or two per fortnight really :)

Pretty healthy attitude. But I guess it is worth us saying: the community appreciates them, as and when you have time to do them. :)
