Hey, remember last May when I posted concepts for a Yu Jing urban board I wanted to make? And was super noncommittal about when anything would actually happen on the project? Well, I finally made them! :D Like, not all-the-way-made. But, like, playable-made! With lots of stuff left to go to make them not be plain black foamcore! Still though! PROGRESS! :) I did most of the foamcore assembly in October and November, and am only getting around to posting them now because I am just unfathomably lazy. Construction details (accompanied by somewhat less self-pity and whining than is typical of my posts) are on my blog for anyone who cares. The next steps will involve creation of custom papercraft patterns to go over all of the surfaces; construction of bridges, railings, and other accessories; and building a variable road playmat to put everything on. As before, I will provide no projected timeline for completion, because I am utter garbage at predicting my own schedule. Some day, though. *stares off meaningfully at the horizon*
Read through the whole blog post when you posted it, interesting as usual (and neat piles of parts ). This stuff is certainly not the most practical to transport around or store, but damn if it's not nice, totally worth it! There's a ton of space inside of the buildings, so if you (or somebody else from your gaming group) were inclined you could even install lights or even actual screens on these (from those video keychains, someone on the forum was playing with this for actual video ads terrain a while ago, no idea what did they finally do), and they can take lots and lots of decorations outside. Excellent job!
I'm glad you started this project "for real". The volumes on the tables look fantastic! It looks like a very interesting table to play on. Thank you for sharing!
Nope, because that hasn't happened yet. :) It's all still black blocks in a bag in my apartment. I'm planning to pick this up again soon-ish, but it might not be fully completed until the end of the year.
