Thanks all for the kind words! Under the tutelage of the expert painter in my parts, the visor/windshield went through many iterations - I'll share for those interested! This was version 1: The conclusion was that this looked like a mural, rather than a reflection. So, I transitioned the bottom of the visor to white which leads us to version 2: Getting there, but two major critiques here was that there weren't enough distortions to give the impression of light reflecting. Also, the image reflected wasn't related to the base and so broke the immersion somewhat. So, I decided to use the road from the base leading us to the final version: It was my first, but hopefully not last attempt at sky-earth nmm!
Still riding the wave of momentum from finishing Maggie version 1 (aka Bulbasaur), here is my progress on a bike. But who's riding it?? Also, I built a little house to create more varied height on my mostly-red-veil-buildings table. Using the box which infinity models are packed in as a base, I stuck some balsa wood on the sides of the box - simple!
Here's the big guy Mr Beg! I learnt a little about my new matt varnish: I need to water it down a little bit! Unfortunately using it straight from the pot has led to a bit of 'fuzziness', almost like a photo when it's put through a 'retro filter'. Also I still can't seem to get the white balancing right on my camera - today's flavour is minty blue!
NMM Chrome is a funny to paint you always need to take in to account a curvature of the surface and a posible surrounding reflections so in this case you would get an Golld reflection from the top part :) o and nice Beg :) i should finish mine .. i started like 2 years ago .. -__-\
A long break due to moving, but back to some painting with a couple of figs. Got a few bits to make painting a bit easier, and it really helped! Something to hold the models and some newer paints and brushes! Inspired, I bought an airbrush as well, but will use it on the next batch of models. An old Naffatun and the dismounted Kasym Beg! EDIT: And I finally have some daylight bulbs so hopefully it's the end of colour tinted photos :D fjknmljk
A long time away, but I have been plodding along with a few completed minis. A Saladin, a Hafza (totalllllly unrelated to using Saladin) and Asawira with spitfire. And I finally have a painted HVT - Mr. Fat Yuan Yuan!
Such a great job on pose, painting effects and overall execution of model. Top notch on all levels! However I don't like the painted grass and think it brings down the final result a small notch. Have you used static grass before? IMO it looks 100 times better and more realistic than flock or drybrushed green sand. You can mix it with soil effects underneath: EG It comes in many colours also EG I think your model's base deserves a better finish.
Very kind of you @archangeleong ! I've not used static grass but I see from the pictures that it is a very nice finish. Thanks for the encouragement, I'll try the grass and see how it looks. Any recommendations as to brand? I have a GW close by so I'll prob just head in there unless their product is one to avoid.
Brand doesn’t matter. But colours do. Some look more natural than others. GW has a good selection as well as little tufts of grass
I finished an EVO remote, the accompanying 8pt remote is close to finished also! I have based the Maggie with static grass, failing to get the grass to stand upright, but I forgot to take a pic of it - will do so for the next post. Progress is slow, but since these are bigger models I'll try not to feel so bad.
- excellent paintjobs - your Boss Hafza has a new expression that looks like he's seen some real shit. I guess the new recruits are getting more stupid each year - missed opportunity to paint a tiny dude with a camera in the Maghariba chrome dome
