I'm NOT looking for official answer, more of how each LGS plays it. Can a model move through a window? I know the rules say that you can move over a objects smaller than the silhouette of a model. The bottom of a window frame is lower than the model moving, so many say you can move through it. Our LGS sais you can, and we had a newbie join and assume you couldn't and got caught by it. I'm tempted to try and suggest a house rule that models moving threw windows get the same effect as Heavyweight moving through a wide gate. Basically they auto-stop afterwards. Or have it be a short skill to break (auto-crit CC) and clear the window before going threw. Also in our LGS we virtually never use locked security doors and hacking rules. We usually treat the doors as always open or star trek doors that auto-open.
My group usually just plays that you can move through them if it's at least as wide as your model's base. If there's acrylic to represent glass just assume you can break your way through.
Same here. If a window is wide enough to fit your base, you can enter through it like through a door. If it is more narrow, you need to crawl through it in Prone, so essentially same as with door. We don't assume the glass in the windows / whatever fills a doorframe to mean anything, save for specific scenarios where these are locked, and need to be broken down / hacked / Engineer'ed to pass through. The problem otherwise would be with keeping track which door or window has been already opened, and whether they stay open, or close automatically at some point. We've considered it to be too much hassle save for when a scenario specifically calls for it. There are two more houserules you might find relevant: Can't deploy a model where it couldn't have walked. If the only access to a room is through Narrow Access or equivalent door / window, a S2 infantryman can have gotten there with no problem. A S5 Superheavy Infantry model or the like could have squeezed in (by crawling in Prone). But an S3 REM couldn't, as it can not get Prone. Windows, doors and the like block LOS unless you're touching them. So, you need to stand next to a window to draw LOS to a model inside of the room, or (if you were inside) outside of the building. Note that you can see thorugh the building, to se a model lookin inside on the opposite side of the building - as long as you're both peeking into the same room. Keep in mind lack of LOF doesn't block templates: if the original target was visible and legit, other models can be caught in the blast simply because they are there. no need to see them!
With several meta within my 'catchment' as it were, i have seen the following answers to your question: a) No, you cannot move through windows. b) Yes, but it counts as squeeing through (so you move as if prone). c) Yes, as long as the window can fit your base width through it (25mm, 40mm, 55mm width). As @Section9 has said, this all gets discussed (or announced in the case of TO's and tournaments) before rolling for Initiative.
I've played the following 2 ways: 1. As is - if your silhouette fits, then you can pass. 2. As Narrow Accesses
We have different terrain kits that we play the windows on differently. For one kit, with very broad, wide windows, we allow access to models up to Silhouette 4. Depending on mood we play these as either requiring the Activate short skill to move through, or just allowing direct movement through. For another kit, with visibly barred & secured windows, we allow LOF through the buildings but no model movement. We don't have any tables with windows or access points that would warrant the use of the secured doors or similar rules.
If you can cram a silhouette through it sure, otherwise only if designated as an access point beforehand.
