From what I was told by others the 3rd Offensive book was suppose to have an updated Paradiso Campaign within it. Is this true? I have a bunch of newer players that are really looking forward to a campaign where they could see how locally each faction does. If there is no campaign in the book does anyone have any suggestions on where I could find one that would work with the current rules?
Fluff. No Campaign. That said there was a Mayacast a few months back that a link to their modified Campaign info you could look at.
It was rumors. I think it was assumed we will get campaign rules due to a fact that 3rd Offensive was taking place on Paradiso, and 2nd Offensive and Campaign rules were in the book HS: Paradiso (if my knowledge/memory serves me well).
Well it was based on one of the early videos, but that was jsut a bullet point with no details so.. yeah
I know I was hopeful at one point it might be. But turned out to be a no. Tis sad, but a good campaign book would be a ton of work, so I'm ok if it takes time.
Crud, even re-doing the SpecOps system would be a hell of a lot of work. And I'd really like it re-done, so that each faction (maybe even each sectorial) has it's own skills tree and weapons options. This would let us have HI SpecOps (say, Zuyong, ORCs, Mobile Brigadas, Janissaries, etc) without giving the option of them having V:NWI! NWI on 1W isn't too bad, it's not quite as expensive as a second wound outright. But NWI on 2W needs to be expensive as hell!
At this point, I'd say the concept is likely dead until they get their thumbs out of their ass and figure things out. Hahahahahaha. "Everyone should have their own unique skills tree and weapon options!" This is Corvus Belli we're talking about here. They still haven't adjusted for the fact that +1BS on PanO models is offset very heavily by shooting modifiers.
SpecOps are just kind of weird right now. Paradiso is a whole edition out of date, we've seen no specific N3 revision of its contents, but for some reason they keep on releasing new SpecOps models. The Grunt Intel and Kaizoku were interesting as exclusive proxy pieces... but with a new Kaizoku coming up in January that is actually armed with a Spitfire, you have to wonder what the hell is going on here. Unless SpecOps are getting their own actual profiles you can field, then releasing more than one of them makes no sense. Hell, with the official proxy rules, releasing any of them makes no sense since there is no need for generic designated proxies. Yet here we are, JSA are getting a new SpecOps model, it is armed with a specific gun instead of just being generic. I am more confused as to what is going on with SpecOps than I have ever been.
If I was going to do spec ops, I'd make them work like this: Generic base "special forces" profile which is the same across factions. Each faction then gets a variety of upgrade options based on their technology and such. You can buy up stats a bit, also depending on faction and buy skills, weapons and equipment packages, each of these requires XP of which there is a base amount. The packages can be things like "Heavy Infantry suit" which gives you +1 W, +2 ARM, +3 BTS etc, but the Haqq and the PanO HI package would be different (Yu Jing one gets V:NWI and shock immunity rather than +1 W for example, lol). So there's customisation where you buy packages basically. And that would mean you get a little less micro-chiselling of a troop and a little more balance, plus it would be reflected in the cost.
