Anyone comic book readers? Way back when, Marvel comics had a title called What If. It was essentially taking characters and change things about them and their story. What if the Punisher becomes Sorcerer Supreme, or Wolverine killed the Hulk. etc.

So I have two ideas to rules but going to start off with one and want peoples thoughts.

What if: Grenades had a limit of 3?

Edit: I mean hand thrown. Not LGL.

A bunch of weapons would need an adjustment down in points, but not unreasonable IMO!

More like "What if you had a hard limit of 5 total speculative+intelligent orders per turn"

Just having the limit on the grenades does it anyway.

Having a limit on them would make the choice to use them a lot harder. You really need to make sure it goes down. A link team with team will help but you probably don't want to use two of them at once.

Added note in OP i meant to say hand thrown grenades. I would think LGL comes with more.

Are we talking regular grenades or smoke grenades as well? I very rarely see regular thrown grenades at all. Which situations/profiles do you consider them a problem? Krakots and Link teams I imagine?

I don't see them as a problem at all, but I love using thrown grenades with my Khawarij. Good fun.

    All grenades.

Like you said you may hardly see regular used but I do see E/M and others once in a while.

There's a strange thing that happens, where if Something is limited, people will want to use them more, but be really careful about when they do it. Oddly enough, grenades being limited might make people use them more as they will be more aware of them!

As it is now, E/M are the most used, but that's because they impact incredibly a lot of enemies in a very beneficial way: break fireteams, IMM2 high costing TAGs & HI, etc...

Nimbus, on the other hand... Or the stunning grenades the Riot Grrrls carry around.

I think that's a very good point. But I think it will limit the fireteam ones throwing down two at a time, in the same spot at least.

So putting a limit will not really effect them much. Good or bad?

A limit on E/M will likely force the users to think more thoroughly rather than just lob nades everywhere. If you only have three grenades, you'll think carefully about if you want to affect the TAG, the Fireteam, hacker, the biker or whatever E/M disable (I didn't read the rules).

IMM2 to HI and TAGS. Everything else "only" gets ISOLATED (the HI and TAGS also get Isolated, btw XD). Frankly, limiting the number of EM grenades on those won't, in my experience, make much difference, limiting mostly the amount of 50% chances you take to force a BTS save...

Then we need new rules! Everyone get disabled by E/M except Ariadna stuff and only they get E/M nades!

What if: Possession could also affect HI/REMs?

Heh, yeah I remember that series! My favorite was What If Ironman Went Public, where pretty much anyone and everyone could have an Ironman suit. LAPD SWAT, US Army (who won the Vietnam War due to low casualties), random criminals...

A limit on thrown grenades of all types isn't necessarily bad, but it would require some extra book-keeping.

I'm OK with it working on REMs, not sure about HI (or Manned TAGs, TBH).

Though if HI get Supportware in N4 with the Trauma Override option (gives Dogged or Possessed to friendly HI), I'd expect that you could Possess enemy HI by getting in through the Trauma Override system.

    WHAT IF...

... AD: Combat Jump also gave you Super Jump by default?
... Sepsitor didn't put troops into a null state (and so gave you orders, control zones, etc)?
... You could activate more than one G:Servant as a time?
