Compared to these profiles, it just feels like they went back to not trying with PanO. These guys are stacked with skills and make strong arguments for their existence. Uma is sandwiched between these guys for cost and feels so underwhelming its baffling. Like a previous poster said, Pano is represented by a camo marker. How were these designed together?
They feel packed with stuff because they were based on Zu Yong/Shang Ji and Wulvers, respectively. Uma is based on... what, exactly? That's the main problem. Given her backstory she should be a Nisse, but adding MSV2 would inflate the cost of already expensive troop. But in general I agree, she (and the rest of the characters, actually) feels like someone didn't really put an effort into designing something with flair.
Gao doesn't have berserk it's a typo apparently. He's uhhh... he's honestly not super exciting. Uma's got more lateral gameplay with climbing plus Gao's just a BS13 dude with an HMG with 2 wounds. Can you explain how that really sets him apart from every other BS13/14 HI dude with a SWC gun in Yu Jing? He's not shit but if we're talking about bland here he's really the definition of it.
Gao feels like an S5 guy compressed down into S2, combo that with a reduced SWC cost LT2 profile and that's way more exciting and interesting than our K-mart Dart. Well, K-mart implies that she's somehow a discount – which is inaccurate.
Haven't seen anyone post this here yet, but this is the alternate sculpt of Uma! Two Assault Pistols, so not really usable for her Infinity profile, but cool nonetheless!
Keep in mind that Dart doesn't work for all of Pan-O, Climbing+ is actually a real rarity for pan-O in general vanilla has two options and 1 is a Merc the other is a TAG. The reduced cost LT2 profile would probably be new and exciting if Daoying didn't exist. It's pretty hard as a Yu Jing player to get super hyped about it when the Daoying and multiple NCO options exist. SWC discount HI are kinda dime a dozen in Yu Jing, so it's not exactly a new feature and most of them have other rules attached like marker states, TacAw, etc.
Assuming we're basing rules around dual-wielding SMGs, my vote would have been for two SMGs, X-Visor, Full Auto Level 2. Simple, to the point, fairly versatile thanks to the X-Visor. It conveys the accurate impression that PanO shoots things best, but gives us a profile that breaks away from the Mimetism + high BS equation. Plus, I just like the image of Uma firing firing firing firing. @Triumph I think your point is the important one. Dart's great, but Dart isn't available everywhere. And a Climbing Plus unit with Camo doesn't stop having application, even if you pay a ton for it.
Hmm. ARM 2, rest of the stats as is; Full Auto; X-Visor; 2xSMG, Breaker Marksman Rifle. This would be great.
Full auto would have been perfect! In Defiance, it seems like she has an ability/upgrade called Saturation fire or something like that. It really does sound like Full Auto in its application of the game.
She's woeful. At 24pts I'd still be hesitant. At least seeing the profile up front stops me spending a lot of cash on the game just to get her.
Fat vet LT lvl 2 and an hmg with nanopulser give him a nice spit where he doesnt fear jammers and he can still force AROs around corners like most Yu Jing. It gives him some midfield teeth to fight back with. Hes not exactly stunning as a lone piece gunfighter, but in an IA link I think he will fit quite nicely in some lists.
Hmm. For 24 points, I'd consider her for my Sectorials. NCA would love the mobile midfield firepower since they always have to go and clear out an opposing midfield, VIRD would enjoy hiding her among all those FD Lvl1 Zulu Cobras, and Shock Army likes having more tools for their decent midfield presence. Not sure about MO or Vanilla. Vanilla's got a lot of competition for those points. I suppose it's nice to have a unit that can provide a second possible Zulu Cobra Jammer in Vanilla. Uma's presence effectively doubles the perception of Jammer to your opponent. One issue I have is that PanO is the game's best faction for being casually excellent in the 0-16 inch rangeband. Even our crappiest troops tend to just excel at shooting a rifle at things. So paying nearly 40 points to do that is problematic. For Uma to be exciting, you have to really love that Climbing Plus. Of course, we still don't know who she's working for, do we? Maybe we can focus the dialog more once we know where she'll be available.
If she was 24 points I wouldn't have a problem with her, I would actually question their sanity at pricing her that low as she can potentially blow out many units. However, as her price creeps up, her limitations of range and order intensity begin to put her out of whack. Shes too expensive to not be a focal point of a fireteam. As a utility piece for a fireteam shes very focused and can be excellent, but shes not alone in that category. Rao is cheaper and honestly a very similar character just without ammo types and with msv1, but we arent jumping on the Rao bandwagon. This sort of character is already over looked because of its oddball nature. The Kamau with HRL presents a similar close range threat, but packs a serious ranged threat to boot. My quick fix to her is give her FO or specialist operative skill. I wouldn't mind her cost so much then and her cost would help her compete with our other expensive midfielders like crocs. It also makes me feel better about a 40 point unit eating orders if it has more flexibility due to the number of specialists we have that start in our deployment zone and need someone else to clear the way for them. It would also give her an edge over something like Dart who is an extremely optimized profile and make her gun bloat a bit more manageable.
I don't quite understand the fascination in comparing her with Dart given that you can't take Dart in the same army as her. She's a BS13 shooter with enhanced deployment and a marker state and can sweep enemy skirmishers off rooftops and other hard to reach places fairly easily. If you think she should cost 24 points son you are on crack, a naked Breaker Zulu Cobra FO is 26pts, and LI pay 1pt for FO. Uma's paying for 2 SMGs, higher stats, and Climbing+, there is no way she costs 24pts as she is. I would like to remind everyone crying out for her to be a specialist that models don't need to do everything to be viable. Infinity has many missions where being a specialist isn't particularly important. Zone control missions very much favour the ability to both lurk in hard to reach places while scoring, and also be able to reach hard to reach places to sweep out said lurkers trying to score. Climbing plus, her marker state, and her forward deployment all fit this bill.
Climbing Plus is a very good skill for PanO. I also don't think Specialist (or lack of Specialist) is the issue here.
The comparison with dart that I play in acontissemento hurt a lot ! but wait ... I can play her as Dart ! #fixed sigh I was dreaming about a MSV2 with two ass. pistol and fatL2: that should be fun ! xD
