How have you been picking who to use?

Are you playing in a group and each person started their favorite, like an RPG almost?
Are you looking at each scenario and somehow choosing based on something you see? Are you playing solo and treating them like a resource?
Just wondering. Since the character only gains Intel packs, and therefore new equipment, when they participate in a mission, it seems like you either want to pick 4 and stick to them, or share around fairly equally. Though I guess you could have one character but equipment for another if you really wanted to.

Interesting question... When I'm playing solo maybe my attitude towards chars may vary...

In terms of characters use on the team this is where I rank all 6 in utility

    1) Jazmin "Jazz": Every mission you don't bring her in you risk losing turns opening doors and not connecting software resources. Don't leave Defiance without her.

    2) Qiang Gao: The ability to soak both damage and aggro is consistently useful, and will slow down enemy reinforcement gain in later turns.

    3) Uma Sorenson: Consistent high damage attacks, extra movement opportunities and solid armour can provide a killer backbone to the team. Reducing a non reinforceable enemy to 1 model to allow others to blind and immobilise can work wonders for mob control.

    4) Rahman Rouhani: Strong Utility to keep consequences off your characters, however if you need him to be providing damage he will eat up similar equipment to what Uma wants to run. A strong pick with a Blind focused Jaz and/or with a Silenced Pistol build Uma

    5) Cadin "Firststrike": A slow character to get started due to equipment costs, can lean Stealth or AoE focus and has a killer ARO against melee enemies, unfortunately generated a lot of Aggro which can bring around the late turn state of constantly respawning enemies very quickly. Also acts a as a secondary Tank.

    6) Trishala "Trisha" N33: A flex pick, although a master of none, if you decide to run a no Jazmin playthrough, you should run Trish as she provides the ability to blow doors without needing to hack a console.

Our group picked characters we wanted to play and ran them. Giving us a team of Jazmin, Qiang, Cadin and Rahman. We're having a good time with it but I think that Cadin is feeling the struggle of not getting solid upgrades in the early game.

If I was to recommend a team that feels that it will get strong early and each person falls into a role, I'd recommend Jaz, Qiang, Uma, Rahman (Uma to go silenced pistol build so you have both the ability to sneak and to allow Rahman to also do damage).

If you're playing for every objective, you won't be short on Intel Packs, most characters can be at almost full build by the end of mission 4 (You can have 15 Intel packs by then per character with one character on 16).

I'd love to hear other thoughts as well, along with arguments about why character X should be higher or lower rank!
