The K1 is a lot, but you never know when it might be really valuable. Hoping to get lucky with either K1 or that 3-save forcing soul crusher of a Viral Pistol is a pretty good insurance policy in case someone throws a skew setup at you, and your normal small arms can't quite handle it. It's especially good if your in a tournament, you're fighting players from other metas, and you someone unexpectedly deploys a TAG or HI team against you. That stuff happens, and when it does, you might be glad you have a mini can-opener in a link with you. That kind of crazy stopping power is also nice when you absolutely have to get a Mutt or Galwegian out of the way and don't have the Orders to f*ck around with their Dogged.
Which would all be fine if they had normal triad, seems like carting two of these around with the pheroware dude might be less useful than putting the mirrorball with a proper gun platform.
I'm confused as to why they have Special Triad with the Kriigel but Fireteam: Triad on both profiles.
With no viral pistol, i still have no idea why this troop exists. Mebbe its so that tohaa has a guy with marksmanship? Like, i would complain before that we had no profiles with marksmanship, and no way to get it, but i guess theres this crappy guy now. So, good one cb. Wooo
13 point boarding shotgun in triad is not that bad for some close combat killing....still makaul is the better choice
Guess this one is a Spiral Corps figure -- I don't mind that too much as it keeps my Vanilla choices from being too busy, and since I plan to play both.
Maybe that's a bug, the spec. fireteam with Kriigel is still listed. Though we still have the Vet Kazak wildcard + Vet Kazak special fireteam with Frontovniks in the system. Viral pistol + Shock sounded fun, too bad it's gone now. Though I really like the idea of marksman rifles in a link, and 20pts isn't that horribly expensive.
Yeah, this is what I'm seeing it as -- Spiral Corps slightly weaker version of the corner guard ability that Makauls have.
confirmed in a different thread that they aren't supposed to have regular Triad, can't even use them as cheap triad filler if you wanted, these guys and the long arms are really misses for me.
So corregt me if I am wrong but the reex are not supposed to have any kind of triad option in vanilla? And that will be fixed in the army builder soon? So reex is absolutly useless in vanilla?
That is what @psychoticstorm has said, yes. As to them being useless... pretty much. I can maybe see myself taking the K1 Marksman, but without Triad options they are pretty sad.
Crazy theory: the reex and longarms have always been this bad, and the tohaa are only using them now that the wormhole has closed. Mebbe a fluff explanation makes sense.
Nope Reex are engineered Symbionts to function as "Puppets" controlled by Kriigel Agents (As part of the dwindeling Tohaa force) But nobody likes them, because they are neither living nor artificial and only the Agents like them around (everybody is afraid of their grin)
I feel like these guys should have just been given Fireteam: Triad without any special restrictions. They are Escorts, so why not let them Escort all the Triad units? Special Triads feel like a mistake and are just a fancy way of saying Unlimited Haris.
They could use something like this, and I hope they at least keep the special Triad in Tohaa, because as it stands they are not inexpensive enough, strong enough, or providing enough uniqueness to really find much use as solo pieces. The base profile is less expensive than the Kaauri with boarding shotgun, but does not provide the additional skills and equipment the Kaauri brings, and is also 1 point more expensive than the base Kaauri.
I suspect a decision was made to limit Spiral access to cheap triad filler. Their inclusion in Vanilla seems purely to allow the spiral box to be sold as usable by Tohaa.
