How come the O-12 has a bunch of weapons that are made illegal by O-12 themselves?
Would it not make more sense for them not to have those weapons and that be one of the special things about the faction?

Attempting to manufacture or posses a nuclear weapon is illegal and you'll be subject to brutal economic sanctions and restrictions on travel and trade...

...say the countries with those weapons already.

Nah they'd never break the rules that they are duty bound to enforce; just like no UN member state has ever broken the rules of the Geneva Convention.
But in a less jaded tone, I think their are loopholes when it comes to the use of prohibited weapons. The Concillium Convention only applies to the use of weapons against those with Human rights (aliens don't have human rights). So fire those viral weapons, chain rifles and nano tech at the combined army all you want.

Have you seen Koni's post about the Peacekeeper skill?
In a conflict in a residential area, where civilians could be involved, in diplomatic escort and so on, you cannot afford to be found using prohibited weaponry. These are the Concilium Conventions. O12, on the other and, has full sanction to use them, because they are the peacekeeping forces. With guns. Bigger than yours, yeah.

Exactly, and with the ammount of CA infiltrators these days, one can't just be sure who are the other guys. That seemingly pacific village of fishermen could be an enemy hidding place.
But if in the end it weren't, well; there is also a reason you see no warcor in his army list!

I saw the post. And from what I gather the weapons can just not be used _against_ them, _by_ them is not a problem :/

Most models do not have a second valid weapon, apart the eventual prohibited one. Would you really like to find yourself not being able to use anything bigger than a pistol because you can't shot Chain Rifles, Flamethrowers, any E/M, any Shotgun... How much would they cost, in-game? A zillion point each! And how broken would it be, in-game? Too far...

Hey, there are two kinds of people that laugh at the law. Those who break it, and those who make it.

Not quite. O-12 use other types of ammo that have the same game effect as the proscribed ones, but aren't as lethal.

Anyone can use anything against O-12.

Yeah, I was just hoping O-12 themselves were not allowed to use the Concilium-weapons.

    This sounds as propaganda XD.
So their E/M won't dissable cubes and their forgotten mines won't blow up civilians?

    So far :P
But still. If their misiles damage as a EXP ammo and have the same template... call me crazy, but it seems like a standard missile.

It's a harmless, fluffy rule that requires a little abstraction - like how "dead" isn't exactly "dead" but more of "100% out of action." So sure an O-12 HMG still has the same man stopping power and RoF (DAM 15, B 4) but is less likely to kill or leave lasting damage. Does that need to be codified into the rules and take up line space on a profile? Probably not, but I'm generally in favor of fluffy rules/things that define armies/units outside of stats and efficient skills.

I agree, no need to overcomplicate rules and it's all about fluff; but it's still quite funny that "My missile is legal, yours not!" XD
ML use EXP ammo which is banned.

Peacekeeper new rules - all units gain the benefit of Total Immunity when fired at to represent a total lack of lethal and specialized ammunition on the part of O-12.
