    Hey Guys,

I decided to start out with the Highlander Army, but I really don´t know where to start :expressionless:
What should I buy for a good starting force (sectorial starter?)? What to expand? Melee heavy prefered :H:

    Thanks upfront

    Hi there

Long story short - don't rely too heavily on melee. It's useful, but if you're bringing a claymore to a shooting match you need to be lucky every time ;)

Longer version: you'll need both melee/CQB units, as well as something long-ranged to punch holes in your enemy defence, so your close range units can go through.

    • Starter is almost always a good starting point
    • Highlander Grey and Mormaer with AP HMGs for long range firepower
    • Wallace and 45th Galwegians
    • Cameronian and/or McMurrough as literal CQB beasts
    • SAS and/or Uxia as infiltrator screen

    Second that.
The beauty of Galwegians clocking in at 6 points: you can take 4 of them for a measly 24 points. As a result you are able to field a normal shooting heavy army in addition to the claymore wielding brutes who really are fun to play.

Thank you, since you are talking about firepower; what about the Caterans? They seem very nice with their T2 Rifle?

Can´t wait to field them :)

They're a decent way to hunt non-linked ARO troops. After losing Camo they can act as a speed bump. Cheap and cheerful.

HMGs are usually better in active turn, because burst is king. Snipers fare better, if you can significantly outrange the opponent with them.

I really love Wulvers. They are good at shooting and really great at smashing heads in.

AND they have 2W with ARM3. Real heavy Infantry.

    1) Solo: You field a lone Mk12 Wulver. Guy goes hunting. Not exactly cheap but not expensive, and importantly cost no SWC. Can kill anyone except for the real heavy hitters of the enemy.
    2) Haris: You take the three-man fireteam. One should be the Mk12 guy. One of the members should be Wallace. Throwing smoke grenades makes this fireteam way more deadly. More expensive than the above, but fairly cost-effective.
    3) All in: You take a full, five-man fireteam. One member is Wallace, at least one member is Mk12. Relatively expensive, but, man, those guys are gonna kick some butts.

Both lists are take all comers, that is would perform relatively well in most missions against a fairly wide range of opposing armies.
You have a fair amount of firepower and a healthy amount of specialists to push buttons or perform classifieds.
    I hope, this helps.
