This thread is specifically for individuals testing a suggestion to fix the rules like other threads. However, this thread is only for testing one solution on the premise that it is okay to scrap the current declaration system and return to "Requirements met before Declarations made" aka "Reqs before Decs".

So, if you are not okay with stepping outside of the box, then please respect the purpose of the thread and the forums and remain silent within this thread. If you don't like the suggestion, please state your arguments how it would make the game worse, and any suggestions to make the suggested system work better.

My suggestion for fixing the game, removing the numerous baits and endless FAQs, (note: I'm not saying get rid of all FAQs, I'm saying try to devise a system that needs them as little as possible) as well as making learning and playing the game as easy and intuitive as possible without feeling cheated as much as possible.

    So, Bait this...

    Order and ARO rules.
    1. Requirements must be met before Declarations can be made.
    2. LoF AROs are: Dodge, Reset, and Shoot. Standard as before.
    3. LoF AROs into/through Zero Vis Zones are: Hold ARO.
    4. ZoC AROs are: Dodge, Reset or Hold ARO.
(If Hold ARO is declared a Hesitation penalty mod may be applied for -3 or -6 depending on testing. This allows for the reactive turn to meet the active turn with an appropriate response but at a penalty for waiting. Holding ARO only allows a declaration if requirements are met. Obviously special skills, equipment and weapons can intervene and even supercede the limitations on valid AROs like hacking and pherowear.)

Note: this system is intended to be as small, simple and condensed as possible with as few FAQs as possible. To my perception this system is bait proof. The Hesitation penalty is to help ensure the active turn still has the upper hand while the HOLD ARO is to prevent the feeling of being cheated by a bait and thus succumbing to a free attack.

Alright ladies and gents, feel free to test on your own time, ask questions, and discuss, and please remain respectful of the intent of the thread and understand I'm happy to make adjustments as long as we move closer toward a simpler and even intuitive system. As far as I can tell Reqs before Decs is the most intuitive and so is a Hesitation penalty where as moments of anticipation or a lack of hesitation are marked by higher degrees of success or failure like a goalie in soccer anticipating the right or wrong way to dive when attempting to block a shot.

    Thank you.
