Hey guys, new TAK player here.

I'm going to a tournament on 5th of May and I would like to get some advises from you. The tournament will be a particular format: two 200 points lists with Spec Ops (12XP) and a maximum of 10 orders.
    Scenarios: Transmission Matrix, Supplies, Unmasking.

I've thought to bring this one:

    SpecOps 200
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────
    [IMG]10
FRONTOVIK (Multiespectral Visor L1) AP Sniper / Assault Pistol, Knife. (1 | 31)
LINE KAZAK (Infinity Spec-Ops) (12 XP) (Chain of Command, Doctor, Engineer) Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
    LINE KAZAK Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 9)
LINE KAZAK (Forward Observer) Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
LINE KAZAK Lieutenant Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 9)
SCOUT (Forward Observer) Ojotnik, D-Charges, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 30)
SPETSNAZ (CH: Ambush Camouflage) HMG / Pistol, CCW, Knife. (1.5 | 38)
STRELOK (Minelayer) Boarding Shotgun, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 21)
STRELOK (Minelayer) Boarding Shotgun, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 21)
STRELOK (Minelayer) Boarding Shotgun, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 21)
    4 SWC | 200 Points
    Open in Infinity Army

It has a bit of everything: a good fireteam, a CoC to avoid disasters, 2 FOs for scoring, 3 Minelayers to control the areas. The Spec Ops is set as CoC, Doc, Eng to cover more roles during the various scenarios.

    What do you think?

How can I build the second one to be different?

I've tried to build it around a Voronin+Frontoviks fireteam, but, even with the CoC Spec Ops, his S is worrying me too much.

Is there another way to play a fireteam in TAK? Maybe with some Vets or Frontoviks? Maybe more mobile?

Thanks in advance for your help.

So let's look at the scenarios.

Transmission Matrix - Minimal specialists, move forward/dominate antennas and a datatracker that can kill the designated target.

Supplies - Forward specialists, run and hide.

Unmasking - Forward specialists, datatracker that can kill hiding stuff.

    ...

Most of my lists start with the Spetsnaz HMG, Veteran HMG plus line Kazaks. Irmandinos, Streloks. I generally pay the SWC tax to take the non-Lt HMG because I don't want to risk LoL on a bad roll.

I'd pair Supplies and Unmasking together as they both need Strelok Forward Observers. 20pts bare bones forward specialists. As for datatracker that can kill stuff.. my go-to is the Line Kazak LGL as it doesn't need LOF to murder hidden designated targets. LGL is often MVP.

In Transmission Matrix, you don't really need any specialists. We don't hack, so we don't care about the transmission part. It's just about moving forward into the zones and clearing them.

I'd probably run a basic list with like..

    Spetsnaz HMG
Veteran AP HMG (or X-Visor T2 or something if you prefer)
4 Line Kazaks (FO, LGL, LT)
    Irmandino
    2 Strelok FO
Then something else like a Strelok K9 to clear mines/sensor, a Scout or your Spec Ops. You could also take a Line Kazak (or Frontovik) sniper to drop in/out of the link if you're going first/second.

At 200pts, just rely on having to make them guess at what your Lt is. CoC is worth taking, but 200pts is tight and I wouldn't bother.

I think Voronin is kind of bad. I own him and haven't even painted him. Or my Ratnik.

Also remember that Minelayer Streloks aren't specialists, so they can't open crates in Supplies or activate consoles in Unmasking. You need the Forward Observer profile. If you've got the points, take Scouts as they're better than Streloks- but they're like +10pts more. Streloks are like, bare bones, let's get this and only this job done.. and are dirt cheap as a result.

As for Frontovik links. I probably wouldn't take them at 200pts as points are at a premium. You could possibly run like a 5-man Line Kazak link with heavy weapons to be a castle, then take a Frontovik link led by a Veteran and have that do work. I usually just run a Veteran/Line core. Nothing wrong with Frontoviks, though.

    ...

What to do with the Spec Ops is interesting. You could run him as a cheap paratrooper specialist and try to clear zones/etc?

Changed the first list a bit, one of the Minelayer is now a Forward Observer and the Scout is Pavel. He's Specialist Operative, so it would help me a lot in scenarios like Supplies and Unmasking.

In this list, the Spec Ops is actually CoC and AP Marksman Rifle, just to have a good second weapon in the Fireteam. LoL would be a disaster, so I prefer to stick with CoC, but still Boarding Shotgun or Minelayer are all good options for him, especially in the second list, where I plan to leave him free to move around the board with Veteran L1. Being Frontoviks and VetKazak already Veteran, that's a good number of models who won't become Irregular if Voronin dies.

Airborne Deployment seems incredibly fun, do you think it can work? Especially attracting all the ARO?

Note that Spec Ops just updated in Infinity Army, because they got changed for Daedalus Fall. Check with your TO if you're using the new ones.

AD doesn't attract AROs if you do it right. You just come on where no one can see you then shoot things that aren't expecting it.

    ...

Being in LoL isn't that bad. You just spend some command tokens to convert some orders to regular and go about your day. Especially at 200pts. It's not like you have heaps of orders anyway.

Seems exactly like the Tournament I was talking about yesterday in my city, and I was talking with a new TAK player too!
I was messing around with the lists for the same purpose, and I must say I'm actually a fan of Voronin. The aim is to have a couple solid lists with a good fireteam that can handle most situations and still push buttons.
    I thought of these:

    SpecOps 200 01
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]8 [IMG]2 [IMG]1
COLONEL VORONIN (Sensor) Lieutenant T2 Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, AP CCW. (0 | 21)
VETERAN KAZAK (Forward Observer) AP Rifle, Light Flamethrower / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0 | 38)
FRONTOVIK Heavy Rocket Launcher / Assault Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 23)
    FRONTOVIK Engineer T2 Rifle, D-Charges / Assault Pistol, Knife. (0 | 27)
    112 Light Shotgun / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 12)
LINE KAZAK (Infinity Spec-Ops) (12 XP) (Chain of Command, Engineer) Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
STRELOK (Forward Observer) Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 20)
IRMANDINHO Chain Rifle, D-Charges, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (0 | 8)
SPETSNAZ (CH: Ambush Camouflage) HMG / Pistol, CCW, Knife. (1.5 | 38)
    WARCOR (360º Visor) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3)

    3 SWC | 200 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

Here you have 7 Specialists and 9 Regular orders. The Fireteam is pretty solid, with a Vet Kazak, Voronin and the Frontovik with the HRL.
I agree with @Obeisance that HMG Spetsnaz, Irmandinho and FO Strelok are a good base to keep, so that's the perfect complement for the Fireteam.

Here's another list based on Voronin:

    SpecOps 200 02
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]8 [IMG]2 [IMG]2
COLONEL VORONIN (Sensor) Lieutenant T2 Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, AP CCW. (0 | 21)
VETERAN KAZAK AP HMG / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (2 | 47)
    LINE KAZAK Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 9)
    LINE KAZAK Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 9)
LINE KAZAK (Infinity Spec-Ops) (12 XP) (Chain of Command, Engineer) Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
SPETSNAZ (CH: Ambush Camouflage) HMG / Pistol, CCW, Knife. (1.5 | 38)
STRELOK (Forward Observer) Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 20)
SCOUT (Forward Observer) Ojotnik, D-Charges, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 30)
IRMANDINHO Chain Rifle, D-Charges, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (0 | 8)
IRMANDINHO Chain Rifle, D-Charges, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (0 | 8)

    3.5 SWC | 200 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

In this one, the Fireteam is based on the AP HMG Vet Kazak: simply one of my personal favs! You still have 9 Regulars and 6 Specialists.
You could switch the Scout for a Strelok+K9 and upgrade a Line Kazak with the LGL.
Or, if you don't like Voronin, you can switch him and the FO Scout for the Frontovik Sniper and a FO Strelok, using a Line Kazak LT.

For the other list, I really like the one suggested by @Obeisance
Here's the list from the Army Builder:

    Jolly
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]9 [IMG]1 [IMG]1
SPETSNAZ (CH: Ambush Camouflage) HMG / Pistol, CCW, Knife. (1.5 | 38)
VETERAN KAZAK AP HMG / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (2 | 47)
LINE KAZAK Rifle, Light Grenade Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 13)
LINE KAZAK Lieutenant Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 9)
LINE KAZAK (Forward Observer) Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
LINE KAZAK (Infinity Spec-Ops) (12 XP) (Chain of Command, Engineer) Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
IRMANDINHO Chain Rifle, D-Charges, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (0 | 8)
STRELOK (Forward Observer) Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 20)
STRELOK (Forward Observer) Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 20)
    STRELOK K-9 Submachine Gun, Chain-colt, Antipersonnel Mines + 1 K-9 Antipode / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 24)
[IMG] K-9 ANTIPODE Trench-hammer, AP CC Weapon. (8)

    4.5 SWC | 199 Points

I'm that new TAK player probably haha.

Thanks for your help, but let me correct your lists a bit: your first one has 8 regular orders and 5 Specialists, the second one has 8 regular orders and 5 Specialists. Engineer on Spec Ops is not needed for scenarios as you already have CoC to score.

Voronin seems a nice option, but probably better in a defensive link, where it's harder for my opponent to reach and kill him. In an offensive one, there will be less trouble in order to get my LT, as I will already be nearer to his threats.

I've playtested a bit more in these days and I still have trouble managing an offensive link, and I don't want to go with two lists based on a defensive Fireteam. So, I'm thinking about a Vanilla list full of camos. Let's see what happens lol

Ahahahah, well, if it's you, glad to meet you here other than in Ars Manufactoria!

In both lists, since you have Voronin as the LT, you get to use his Strategos L1 changing one LT order to a Regular one, thus having 9 Regular orders.

As a Specialist, in the first list you have 6 of them: FO Vet Kazak, Frontovik Engineer, 112, Line Kazak Spec Ops, FO Strelok, Irmandinho. In the second list you actually have 5 Specialists. I also keep forgetting that CoC counts as a Specialist...

If you would still like to playtest some more Offensive Fireteams, I would suggest this last list:

    SpecOps 200
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]8 [IMG]2 [IMG]2
VETERAN KAZAK AP HMG / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (2 | 47)
FRONTOVIK (Multiespectral Visor L1) AP Sniper / Assault Pistol, Knife. (1 | 31)
LINE KAZAK Lieutenant Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 9)
    LINE KAZAK Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 9)
    LINE KAZAK (Infinity Spec-Ops) (12 XP) (Chain of Command, ...) Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
SPETSNAZ (CH: Ambush Camouflage) HMG / Pistol, CCW, Knife. (1.5 | 38)
STRELOK (Forward Observer) Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 20)
STRELOK (Forward Observer) Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 20)
IRMANDINHO Chain Rifle, D-Charges, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (0 | 8)
IRMANDINHO Chain Rifle, D-Charges, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (0 | 8)

    4.5 SWC | 200 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

Full Offensive fireteam with no obvious LT and 5 Specialists. 2 FD Camos and 1 Ambush Camo. You get an AP HMG, a HMG and a MSV1 Sniper; it also covers pretty well every range. I didn't change the SpecOps: I'd keep CoC, the rest would be up to whatever you prefer.

Otherwise, if you want to go Vanilla, how many Chasseurs do you own?

You're goddamn right, but in the last list you're 0.5 SWC over.

2 Chasseurs, and I'm buying some extra camos, like Foxtrot, Hardcases and so on!

    Oh jeez, didn't notice.
For the Datatracker, just remember that he can't start as Camo, nor in any other token form.
