The more suitable (hehe) question is how the hell does the bear Climb+ with that chonk of steel he can bearly (snigger) reach around? Tbh the mini didn't really wow me and the controller is basically a clone of the pose for the Antipode Controller. I think I will stay with my proxies for the time being. Especially now that this thing is in Siocast. That division line between the head pieces, obvious even on the render, is just disgusting. Fur should have overlapped that, ffs. Eh.
I don't like the miniature, the proportions and the pose look off to me. I don't like the profile because it's a better dog warrior and it's a perfect example of power creep. I don't like the lore because it's pure nonsense and probably the worst I have read in a infinity book. I'm sorry to be so negative but this is my most honest and pure opinion as an ariadna lover.
That whole central blob of "NOTHING INTERESTING SCULPTED HERE!" could've really been left off and armour just like the Devil Dog has, the one the Bear has already sculpted underneath, would've been great. DD has ARM4, Polaris has ARM5. Just suggest harder plates like the crotch part does and you're off to the races. That blob of tank steel is just so cheap and lazy :\
Yeah I think at the very least I'll need to do some work on that chest armor to make it more interesting... either some bullet gouges or textured metal or something. I think it's also a bit janky that the rivets (?) or whatever they are on each piece of armor are scaled relative to the size of the plate. Note that they are small on the leg pieces, slightly bigger on the shoulders, and even bigger on the chest - it makes it hard to tell what they're there for, but it's very weird to have something so big with no detail. That "Glasgow Smile" will also definitely need to be filled. ... but the handler will definitely look much different once it's painted in Kosmoflot colors But seriously, @Nuada Airgetlam what are you currently using to proxy the bear? I'm curious about what my options are, even though I'll likely be picking this up myself JUST to see how the Siocast holds up.
the models look good, but I have to agree with Nuada, it would have been nice to have more details on the plate, but nothing a good freehand camo or some greenstuff pouches or grenade belt couldn't fix. step one give vodka to the bear step two give vodka to the Kazak volunteers to put the armor on the bear step four profit
@Lawson See, adding tactical shit onto it will only increase the already ridiculous volume. The bear literally can't or barely can grab it's own hands across it. How does it climb? Or go prone? At least there's a reason for the big hammer, because he'd be hard pressed to claw swipe anyone in front of him... Here are my current two candidates. Sizes are off, but that can't be helped.
It's too bad Caledonia doesn't get a Bearpode - the second one would look right at home there with his cloth painted in a tartan pattern.
@colbrook , those jokes are terrible but i'm waaay too excited about bearpode to throw things at you for them. the Controller isn't the most original sculpt but she looks different enough from her Antipode counterpart that it's fine; and Smokey is just fantastic just screams belligerent aggression. Now to try and get enough terrain to make a convincing starship interior...
TBH, he fits for me right in there, with his Varangian Guard buddies. He has those Celtic / Viking knotwork details all over the place on his armour and weapons.
I'm not super into it. I feel I dislike it the more I look at it. Something about the chest plate seems to thick. I think the controller's comparison to the antipode controller is a little unfair. The are a bit similar but not duplicates. If I'm gonna throw shade its that she is another victim of tactical rocks and i think there are like at least 4 other models with similar poses in crimson stone. No one has brought it up yet. But WTF is up with the bearpodes weapons. He's carrying a heavy shotgun, and has a chainrifle on his back with the rest of his storehouse of gear. Really just covering all the bases there. Cause providing another arm/hand option is way too difficult. Better to just give him everything and let the pksyers work it out. Not sure if I will pick this up. Will probably keep using the Devil Dog in place of the Bearpode. I like his models way more and like the chance to use them on the table.
Looks like a mash up of the antipode controller, the K9 Strelok handler, and some armor plates. Couple things to remember, this render is still fairly far out from release date. It may not be finished and I do believe that would be the first time that’s happened. It’s certainly possible they haven’t finished scaling everything the way it will eventually turn out. That said, I do love the overall pose of the Bearpode and it’s general feel. That said, the crack on the face is not good. I also think the whole sculpt would be better without the chest plate and scaled down shoulder pauldrons. The bear itself is massive and if you stripped all that armor off, I think he’d overall look “buffer.” As it is, he kind of looks like a kid wearing his dad’s suit. Hopefully there will be some scaling adjustments between now and release. Otherwise I really like it. Also, love the Ariadna prospector Ratnik.
Also remember that renders always look a little chunkier than the final models due to shrinkage going between 3D print, master mould, metal masters, production mould, and final production product.
My main grievance with the render are the legs of the bear. They are thin and too long and since when are bears walking on their toes. These are doglegs. But then I don't play ariadna so will gladly shoot this monstrosity with viral weaponry.
