Hello guys! I'm introducing a new player into Infinity and he likes a lot the appeal of Nomads. We want to try Vanilla and a Sectorial, but I don't know very good Nomads so I can't do a brief presentation of the three sectorials. Can you help me? Plus, he want to try a couple of match before he choose, can you help me with a couple of lists at about 150/200 pts? So he can start with some idea and then build from scratch? Thank you!
the dice abide and wise kensai have a good podcast about starting factions. i could try and paraphrase but i won't do it justice. main point is to pick a sectorial and build our your vanilla army from there which i think makes sense. in terms of intros to the sectorials, i guess the way i'd preface it is that nomads are a toolkit faction. they have a model for every job on the table, more or less. not as good at any one thing as other factions, but much easier access to those tools. CJC is the flexible fighter faction. lots of wildcards and subs, probably the most powerful of the sectorials at the moment. the vibe isn't too far off from the belters of the expanse. tools are easy to get and the synergies between them are really good. TJC is the elite faction. Most expensive but has some elite level troops that perform well even in vanilla. the vibe of Tunguska is the mafia in space. tools are there but expensive. usually elite level and not always supported in a sectorial where you have to make hard choices based on what you can afford. BJC is the freaks and geeks faction, lots of unconventional troop forces, some powerful models there but the backbone of the faction is a bit hard to get into at the vanilla level there is usually a better option from the other sectorials. probably wouldn't recommend unless your new player likes the vibes of warrior nuns meets the x-men. lots of neat tools in this faction though, but their platforms can be awkward and expensive for what they bring, or super cheap and fragile. personally, still holding out for a redesign and faction pack in the coming year or two to renovate the sectorial. in terms of list building, i would start with the faction starters for a 150/200pt game since that's likely the first box purchase. maybe throw in the REMs too since the sculpts are coming. here are some really quick and not optimized lists based on the factions, because you're just trying to share what they are for like, $60 or less: Spoiler: armies BJC ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 7 1 1 MORLOCK Combi Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CC Weapon. @WiseKensai and @TheDiceAbide have a few online resources like https://www.infinitytheacademy.com/ for new players. In addition, as @Boris Meridian mentioned, https://www.thediceabide.com/blog/which-infinity-army-is-for-you-part-3-nomads, is a good primer on the capabilities of Nomads.
Yes, i read them now and i translated for him (he's not good with english). But the point was some lists to use! Thanks a lot for the help!
Just wanted to mention that it's @HeadChime that runs Infinity the Academy with me, not @TheDiceAbide. I really just want to make sure that HeadChime gets recognized for his excellent work. HeadChime runs Under Bourak's Sun as well, if you want to read more of his stuff.
