So after getting a bit frustrated with the way YuJing are going I decided to jump onto a slow grow league in my area and pick up my second favourite force, Onyx. This is my first list after a few iterations with a friend and was wondering if you all had any thoughts or feedback on it? I tend to build lists to cover as many missions as I can (so generic and with enough specialists) and tweak them as I go when I expand my collection. I have currently ordered all of this army but I am happy to hear thoughts on what I should look at grabbing to round out the force a bit better. Ok, first: Unidron Core is not really for moving, but supressing a zone with 2 ML (or 1 ML and 1 sniper) +2 FO and a team leader, and you don't want the hackers to be inside the Core (the Nexus buffs Marksmanship, Kerr-nau puts White Noise). I prefer to bring 5 Unidrons, 1 Umbra that can link with them and 1 Nexus/KerrNau for that reason, so you can pick the survivors of ARO duty and advance with an ad-hoc fireteam (the reason I pick the Tinbot K-1 combi unidron as the 5th member is that, he provides extra Hacking protection and 50% wounds on TAGs). If you want to go for a "all terrain" list, I'd suggest a Rodok core with 1-2 Paramedics, 1 HMG and filler stuff, then an Overdron providing cover fire (careful there, though: plasma sniper tends to be a little more interesing than HMC for certain targerts, the HMC is mostly a TAG hunter). The Samaritan is mostly an escort for the Xeodron Haris, frankly. I'd pick a Legate H+ better for specialist gaming (white noise, cybermask, mimetism, BSG and Flash Pulse, NWI...). Picking Kerr-nau and Dr Worm for classifieds is good, since you have all the D-Charges Onyx has access to, and the only Doctor in the whole army.
Also if ur set on using Kerr nau in the unidron link team, abuse the fireteam bonuses to launch some pitchers down the field, that combined with an E drone can cause chaos on enemy link teams with exile
Awesome thanks for the replies. I am now leaning towards this list. I was having issues fitting in the sniper rifle Unidron and the missile launcher one due to the SWC limits. It also seems like I can't really bring the list up to 300 (again the SWC limit is hurting badly). I'd purge the Maakrep in favour of a Fraacta, frankly. I think you can fit a Combi or a BSG one instead without problem.

Maybe upgrade your Overdron to the HRMC? You have potent ARO pieces in the ML and PSR Unidrons already. Bring the Overdron up a tad and drop it into Suppressive for B5 in active and B3 in ARO. You lose the templates, though...
I think you got most of it right except I feel you look at the xeodron haris the wrong way. The samaritan is way, way deadlier than the xeodrons(and normal umbra), they are actually escorting him up for me, not the other way around. Once you get a Samaritan further up just drop him from the link and stealth around while the xeodrons cover lanes. There is not much that can stop a samaritan once he gets going and he can survive a unlucky roll and gain new wounds. I dont use the hacker profile because it just makes him vulnerable, let the xeodrons push buttons. I allmost never see assault hackers these days and It is not a big deal if a xeodron successfully gets hacked, he will stil give orders and you have 2 of them.
You've gone for quite a tasty selection there. Personally I'm a fan of kermit the frog in a unidron link, he adds fire power, BS12 and another weapon to that link before you even get to the hacking. Kerr nau in that link is an info war deathstar, you pay the .5 SWC for the tinbot unidron and you have a wip 14 KHD with maestro and a -3 deflector mod who has a B2 pitcher which lands on 18's SSL2 then makes him a near unstoppable hacking superpower. With the enemy hackers neutralised your Umbra can start oblivioning or spotlighting hackable targets within the pitcher web. Obviously Kerr nau also adds in a hacking defense for the unidron team by virtue of proximity. The only downside to Kerr nau is that I used to really enjoy playing the Samaritan/rodok team and that now I don't use it anymore as the infowar and utility option appeals more than a point and click link. The Overdron has three profiles and they're all gold, the plasma is hands down the most lethal active turn piece in the game, the HMC lets you power through with burst (making it arguable more lethal than the plasma because burst wins f2f rolls and scores crits) and is amazing on suppression, and the HRLs are cheap and drop fire templates everywhere. There isn't a wrong choice. My criticism here however is then the rest of the list, all your SWC is plasma snipers and ML's leaving you with no natural B4+ weapons and IMO problems within 16" therefore I'd probably swap out the plasma sniper uni for a spitfire when paired with the plasma overdron, when you look at them they do almost exactly the same job. On maakreps, they have their problems but a BSG maakrep literally won me a game yesterday. I'm a big fan of their hacker, ticks the boxes for supportware, MSV and nasty flanker defenses, knowing the limits of the trooper and finding decent positions means that they can work well as suppression point defense, getting knocked KO and then using automedkit when they eventually lose.
Love your list! As a newish onyx player as well, this is what I’ve been running if you want to try something COMPLETELY different: The fire team: Kernau and rodoks, move it to midfield killing MSV left out with white noise and targets of opportunity with super jump HMG they thought safe, laying a mine or two, placing repeaters in useful but hard to remove places, and going into suppressive or cybermask at the end of the turn with a command token. -9to hit rodoks (or qdrone) in suppressive, mime time, and cover) is good. BSG fraacta s a great punisher/harasser that can actually drop in on decent numbers due to EVO (firefight bonus is crazy with 18s), make sure to end it in a position your opponent has to spend orders on, if it wasn’t whiped out causing a glorious bloodbath. Pseudo 2 wound droptroop hitting on 18s in its good range (which it accomplishes with its ability to be where it needs to be) is a steal for 28 pats. Q-drone is great ARO piece, if there is a main route you figure your opponent will use, overlay it’s firing lane with the Noctifer and watch things disappear against dice and negative modifiers. Ikadron are love... fire templates, baggage, and repeaters on cheap platform. Between deployed repeaters and these guys you have a very wide hacking area threatening KHD and.... EDrone- best EVO in the game with a weapon, and.... Exile to make use of your wide hacking area against fire teams making it relevant against non hackable sectorial lists. Can put into suppressive for added safety against things that get to its protected location (you put it somewhere protected where it shouldn’t ever need to move right?) Dr worm and nurse worms, keep a nurse worm near your q drone and one near your fire team, to keep it a threat until removed completely, and keep dr worm safe, but available for running missions/ keeping up pieces. He’s your only doctor, engineer, and d charges. Imetrons give cheap orders that people need to use orders usually to remove... place obnoxiously in a place that won’t leave the table if it scatters. Noctifer nasty surprise to murder link teams/hard targets with lots of negative mods... and your answer to TR bots. which is why I dub this list... Negative Nancy. I am sure someone has already said it but the Noctifer Missile Launcher is one of the most deadly ARO units in the game and I can't recommend it more strongly
I agree... in fact I start every onyx list with noctifer ML, QDrone, Dr Worm, EDrone, Kernau, and Ikadrons.... I just can’t play without them. Noctifer and Q drone are our best ARO pieces, Dr Worm is necessary for classifieds and forcing the opponent to spend more orders on threats, kernau’s KHD (can fill holes in links compared to bit), and white noise is a great answer to MSV, Ikadrons are necessary but cheap defense as a repeater and flamethrower net you need against ODD/TO you can’t out negative mod or dice dot death. Edrone makes the repeater net not a waste against unhackable sectorials, and buffs all the REMs.... not that you have to do it this way... but it seems to work for me.

The best noctifer strategy - assuming your opponent knows about that little bastard is to take a fraacta instead and deploy like there's a noctifer hidden somewhere.
Is it gamey to ask your opponent to turn around as if you had a hidden deployment even though you don't?
Don't ask them to turn around. Take a photo with you phone and edit/draw a mark where you are. Then when you are NOT playing HD....still take the photo....and let them assume
