How do Druze do Limited Insertion?

Check out my LI baddies list in mixing it up with DBS. I’ve wracked up a few wins with that and small variations of it. Doesn’t perform as well as I’d like, but two TAGs do a great job of keeping your opponent busy.

 

I'd use something like this. Lotsa fire power in an ity bitty package.

I am not sure about the Nasmat, they are simply their as an option to clear Mines or repair Scarface later. Le Muet because he is a though ARO piece and a good Data Tracker and Regular. Saito could fill his place but since he cuts the order pool a bit more I decide against him here, but he would add another good Specialist.
No KHD ist a drag, but that's why it's limited. The EM LGL could become a KHD which would free up the SWC to get the Spitfire Peacemaker though.

 

You have to make some sacrifices and cannot cover all of the strengths of DBS, but I like LI Druze.

Edit: Actually screw that list I had up before, i like this variation better.

As far as I can tell 400pts Limited Insertion is impossible for DBS though and only just doable if Soldiers of Fortune are allowed.

 

There are a bunch of factions where 400 point LI is pretty iffy. It's not just DBS.

 

Yeah, no one is going to host a 400-point Limited Insertion event unless it's a joke (or agreed upon with most attendees beforehand... i.e. everyone wants to play two TAGs.

 

I really, really like this list. It's got everything but a doc in there (I'd be tempted to put a Paramedic in the Druze link at least, or change the Hunzakut up for one). Otherwise though, super solid.

 

To me the Brawler doc could be worth it in LI, where I do not often pick it for my normal ITS lists. It's just an odd point unit to fit into context of that LI list.

EDIT: and yeah, i often run without one specialist type, sometimes I pay for it by drawing doubly bad cards.

I kinda like DBS in LI, I really do. There is a lot of variation with the Druze, Merc characters, and brawlers that change the list significantly in that format. I'm not sure I would run single combat group DBS outside of a LI format, but I like them in it.

Here are some lists that could be a second list to that one. Give up Saito specialist to get Arslan and a Doctor for more durability overall.

We hosted a tournament to finish out Season 9 this weekend for our local group. Turns out it was Season 10 on the rankings, but whatever, CB can't seem to get the change of seasons timed perfectly with the ITS releases.

My local group is in South West Florida and the event drew several players that traveled from Miami and Tampa to play. We ended up with 13 players, and I didn't want anyone who had traveled to face a bye round, so I played in the event.

The event was a Limited insertion event, and I basically had only one list saved for LI in army, so I printed it and ran it all day. It's the list I did above, but I will put it here too.

I have said before that I don't think Druze is half bad in the Li format, at least not as bad as it appears to be on paper. It was a fun time discovering that I do like them in that format as much as I was theorizing. The strengths change, the churn of refreshing the core generally goes away, and the ARO game is probably weaker, but you get a lot of nice utility and fit in several of the tougher units.

I made the scenario lineup one I hoped would challenge our players: Comms Center, Supplies, and then Frontline. Comms center especially was a tough one with LI. I got a few curses about it. Good, that's what TOs are for. :)

My first game was versus an Achillies + Post Humans list in Comms Center. My opponent stuck two hidden deployment infiltration rolls in the 4" band next to my DZ, a proxy MKII sniper and a Daysu AHD. The only reason I didn't get rolled by his luck was I had a bit of my own. The MSV Brawler made an ARM roll on a 20 and I got a few lucky crits in ARO on his first active turn, wounding achilles and dropping an Assisted fire Dakini. Scarface took out Achilles as the Data tracker, I killed more specialists and we tied on antennas. 7 to 2 Major victory.

Second game was Supplies versus ISS with Sun Tze multi rifle, a dual missile launcher harris, sophetect, Avicenna with ABH buddy, and a garuda with spitfire. Started active again and took two boxes with Saito and a Hunz. Used smoke to engage the Missile launchers individually with the Sniper and lucked out when the Garuda couldn't pin down a dodging Armand over four activation. In the end I lost most of the fireteam keeping Sun Tze away from the crates and scored a 8-0 major on it.

Third game I was top table with a Tohaa player from Miami who's pretty solid. We usually only minor or tie on one another, with the occasional run away game. We both laughed about not wanting to play each other. His list had three triads and a clipsos. Neema, Sukeul K1, and BSG Makaul. Gao Rael Sniper, Sukeul Missile Launcher, and Kaeltar. Third triad was Sukeul K1 and HMG, BSG Makaul.

I started active again and smoked near Scarface to avoid the Missile launcher, then advanced taking out the entire SWC triad in uncomfotably close range bands for them, and then backed off Scarface an put him in supressive fire with both him and Armand (from a high building behind Scarface) overwatching the only two corners that the other triads could come from. It was a strong position and I destroyed the second traid as it attempted to take out Scarface, who barely tanked it. Eventually though the Clipsos and Neema took out Scarface and crit Armand twice in separate activations on different turns. I made one crucial mistake in forgetting to either reform a three man fireteam or coordinating suppression fire with my remaining Druze, and Neema with the last Sukeul K1 took out all of my Druze Shock Troops, and claimed the center zone.

I made a few play mistakes in that last round, but my opponent pulled a sure win for me out of the jaws of defeat and got a minor victory, though we both dragged each other from top table to 4th and 5th place respectively.

I was pretty happy with how the Druze performed in LI, though I would probably change that list up a bit. I really missed MSV-1 on Armand as it seemed like everything i was shooting all day had mimetism. I don't like 10 order DBS lists outside of the LI format, but in it they have a group of moderately tough units that can't individually out compete the toughest units they will face, but there aren't any dedicated cheerleaders. Everything in your list is potent enough to get the job done.

If I could alter the list with hindsight, I think I would have played something like this (although it's still a toss up between snipers, I probably would take the MSV-2 brawler over the Druze in most cases and not care about leftover points).
