Played my first game of Battle for Rokugan last night. Must say it was a blast. Simple but really encourages agressive play. And a bluff mechanic. Oh, how i love bluff mechanics.
*goes back to boardgames* Holy shit, I forgot how much cheaper boardgames are compared to miniature wargames! *goes on a shopping spree* Holy shit, I forgot that they aren't actually cheaper...
The worst are game that have multiple expansions, especially ones which look cool but have no in-game effects (like deluxe token sets and the like). Because you know you will eventually want them...
Oh, I've developed a healthy contempt for games with too-expensive expansions and Kickstarter shovelware packed with plastic. I had to, to survive.
It's a legacy village building game but that's the extent of my knowledge. It's apparently quite good but I've yet to get Pandemic Legacy, nevermind Charterstone.
Thanks. I have a friend who is very much the consummate board gamer. ( He has one of these Geek Chic tables) I'll ask him about it when we have our next games night, in a week or three. He and his wife played Pandemic Legacy a while ago and loved it. Recommendation: Splendor is a nice little game. A relaxing sort of game, rather than an intense game. However, not a *party game* like, say, Kings of Tokyo.
So I got something to play with my friend who has analysis paralysis from hell. Spoiler A chess clock
You're more right than you think. This game was made by Weta Workshop, the special effects and props people, and for some of the huge things they built as props for filming they actually use the word "bigatures", here's a short that should be very interesting to everybody in this site:
Yeah the packaging had a really cool sticker on the front about their work, I hadn't realized who they were.
I really wish WETA would license/sell some of those Blade Runner buildings (reduced to a reasonable size/price)...
I just got Guns of Gettysburg. I feel a little bit intimidated. Spoiler Also, I have poor impulse control.
