So as far as I can tell Geckos do not have a tail. How important to Nomad TAG lore is it then if I do not include the tail on the Szalamandra?
Absolutely unimportant to the lore. Feel free to modify the TAG as you wish. In fact, it would be very fluff for a Nomad pilot to modify the look of their TAG.
The sculptors basically ignored the fluff about all the nomad TAGs being part of the Reptile series and just made whatever anime homage they wanted. That's why my Iguana is a converted Lizard (with tail) and my Gecko's are scratchbuilt to have both a Lizard style head and a tail. So basically do what you want. Robert
you can do whatever you want. rulewise, your miniatures should be distinguishable and made with Corvus belli miniatures. that's why i use Aleph HMG remotes for my nomad armies. (of course, these remotes are a bit converted, just to show that they were captured by nomads). i simply didn't like the look of nomads rem.
Sorry for misdirecting but I'd love to see those as I am unhappy with my rollerskaters as well. Do you have a pic?
Those are Aleph's S3 "common" remotes (8 points, 16 points specialist, Total Reaction and Missile launcher). The pieces are: a body (the box has 2 similar ones), 4 legs (2 sets) and one tail (the box has three "tails": one for the Missile Launcher, and two similar ones for the 8 pts remotes). In order to mount a total reaction, you also have two more pieces, each placed at each side of the non-GML tail (so you have the HMG, the ammo belt and the small box in a single cast). Difficulties: The leg's angles might be clunky, I suggest to glue three of the legs to define a "plane" (that is, how the miniature stays while placed on the floor), and then gluing the last leg. The gluing surface between the legs and the base is too small, you might want to "dig" a little where the legs will be placed (dip some paint in the legs, then place the mini on the base to mark the positions) in order to give the glue a little more surface to hold to. Best looking partners: I think the best S4 baggage/EVO for these guys are either the Nomad's or the Haqquislamite S4 baggage. Please note that the Haqquislamite baggaje (Khameel remotes) have the same "lower train" the Tsyklons have. About conveting the remotes for Nomad use, I think you just need to plaint them, they are arachnoid enough to pass muster. You can, of course, place some dangling cables or exposed "parts" (painted squares, for access panels removed by the hack).
yep those are the ones. at the moment i've no photos of the models (i have it in my other house, and frankly i never took photos of my minies (not good at painting stuff). the things i've done: -pinned the foots on the base. not so difficult as i expected. -cut both barrels on the HMG, and pinned at their place a PVC piece (so that it looks as the barrel of a feuerbach) -made some holes on the back side of the "head" of the REM and inserted some copper cables from electronics. (the ones from an ethernet cable) no painting required on those, simply take the most coloured and glue them on the holes. the cables go to the underside/backside of the rem, to give it an asymmetrical / tinkered look.
The Nomad TAGs are mostly retrofitted old PanO castoffs anyway so unique modifications are more fluffy than them being completely standardised.
It's also worth remembering that the original Szalamandra sculpt did not have a tail. So having a tail is not part of the unit lore at all.
I had a bad time with those ALEPH Remotes personally I would pick a different proxy. The HMG is in so many pieces!
rebots are the most "well aged". generally speaking, all remotes are a bit too "old style" to fit with the rest of the armies. Darkvortex87's all inclusive REM chart! Panoceania: Mulebot seems like one of those strange washing machines. with legs. 1/10 Bulleteers are a bit better, even though the guns can't point forward because of the protections on the leg. 5/10 Peacemakers are a solid 6, even though it misses the guns (?) 6/10 Dronebot? 4/10 old design doesn't help them YJ: Yaoxie: 7/10 not bad, Gives off a terminator-ish look and solves the issues of the leg protection mounting the weapons on the upper part. Panguulin: 6/10, Starship trooper alien vibe is good, realistic mounted weapons, too. probabli good material for a good conversion yaokong: 7/10 solid design, seems very realistical and credible. Old weapons are visible, but frankly bearable (at least for HMG one, GML is still an old piece of scrap) Ariadna (AHAHAHAHHAHAHAH): Traktor: 9/10. the most iconic rem of the game. totally fine for design and complessive look of the army. Haqqislam: Kamaeel: 6/10 good apache-like look. weapons are mounted in a "realistic" position. Remotes: 3/10. i could have given a 1, but seeing Darpa's latest performances changed my mind. Also a bit of variation from the 4 legged one is welcome. Still: Old looking weapons, and typical chicken behaviour (LOOK AT THE HMG ONE! FFS) are too much to bear. Nomads: Salyut zond: 6/10 no particular problems, it's a bit weird for the "hard boxes" on the back (it's not a motorcycle!). Apart from that, solid design. Tsiklon sputnik: 6/10. The design is very good. a bit too fancy IMHO for nomads, but totally fine. Gets -2 vote because of the weapon placement. How can it have 360° visor (so shoot from the back without turning) and the weapons are mounted on the front? Also, why nomad have the smallest Feuerbach of all? especially on REMs? if i ever get to order a Tsiklon, i'll convert it with the weapons on the top-back, instead of the fin. Zond Remotes: 2/10. Old weapons, old design. And strange wheel-legs (yeah, i know, ghost in the shell, blablabla). Sputnik: 8/10 One of the best looking REM in the game, IMHO. Small weapons are totally bearable and realistic. the fin was a pain in the a$$ to assemble, though. Meteor: 6/10 it's an old mode, but it has aged quite well! the whole "Flying" REM is cool and iconic. Old style weapon can be exchanged with a spare one from the Sputnik, glued on the bottom front of the rem. Combined: T and E Drones: 7/10. New take on "4 legged REMs", but a strange "too high" pose. totally playable, though Other drones: i've just seen that they are no more on the store. probably will be resculpted? [ON HOLD] Aleph: Probots: 1/10. NO F-ING WAY! an high tech 3 wheeler without offroad capacity? who thought this? this is what i see everytime. Reboots: 7/10 good design, Spider-like body and eyes are totally cool. New looking weapons are ok! convert the hell out of them. Tohaa: Biotech>Engineering, so no REMs
This looks like those mutated pigs from STALKER. Btw @Darkvortex87, Tohaa's do have "REMs". They just aren't..... "traditional".
The CA drone box is all of them - M, Q, R, T & E. Any 2 drones out of 1 Q, 1 E, 1 T, 2 M & 2 R can be made from each box.
if they were U and A instead of M and E, you could have the U, R, A, Q T drone series which wouldn't be ugly.
