I think if Operatin: Goblin Hovercraft works out, then Operation: Anyat’s Jetski
Yeah, but as they say with a snigger in that part of Spain
"You'll never know who you really are,
'til you try out some of Bostria's Rhubarb"

I gave it a quick shot but it caused problems along the way. Seems - unless I find unexpected time - it has to stay an online app.

I created my own local copy.

    Downloaded:
    bastian-dornauf.de/genops/ (as index.html)
    bastian-dornauf.de/genops/genops.js
    bastian-dornauf.de/genops/main.css
    ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js
    fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Orbitron:400,700 (as orbitron.css)
Then downloaded the tff mentioned in orbitron.css.

Keeping backups of files (to be safe):
Edited index.html, cut full url to jquery, leaving just the file name, and changed font reference css, leaving it as orbitron.css.
Edited orbitron.css to remove the full url, leaving just the tff names.
IOW, made all references point to local files.

Works. It even worked before getting the tff (it just looked different, plain sans serif) or fixing the fonts (download Orbitron:700,900 as orbitron.css and edit that one)*.

You could pack the above files as zip and tell people to download that, instead of using appcache method.

*: While doing all this, discovered that your page wants font weights 900 and 700 but downloads 400 and 700, once that was fixed, the header looked bolder.

Inspired by all this geek talk I've started packaging up all my dumb Infinity app-lets in one 'Multi Tool' app, and reading Bastian's exchanges with Mob of Blondes makes me wonder if we shouldn't have a Developers Sub Forum where we can geek out together without disturbing normal people* Paging @psychoticstorm.

    * Because I just took another look at the N3 Weapon Ranges thing I was putting together last year and discovered I'd built a proper database backend and all the object-relational mapping too. At first glance, I have no recollection why I'd go to all that trouble but I'm pretty sure it should be discussed with my peers who'll be understanding about a need to over-engineer everything and generally not judge me!

Thanks for the encouragement - I can put it in the App Store by the end of next week, probably. It's all a bit prototype-quality right now, but the 'Fukami Formula' utility is pretty interesting and a thing I've wanted to do for a while. It calculates available depth for pie-slicing estimates. ie. given approximate range and separation, how much depth is available to estimate a 'one-but-not-both-ARO.s' position. Is it worth a couple of bucks to iPhone using-players, do you suppose?

[edit: added qualification according to Loricus remark ]

I know I’d buy it just to support cool things like this in the future. That said, I’m not sure how many people would be willing to pay or what they would be willing to pay for something like this.

I wish I could say we’d all buy it, but I probably wouldn’t even pay for Army if I’m being honest, so ...

Something about coding and art that people expect it done for free. Maybe just because so many people release free passion projects that's what people started expecting.

My so-called professional software development career started well enough, and I fought and blustered my way into some really cool projects. that were often way above my ability, but I managed to make a contribution somehow.

Then it somehow segued into series of overpaid death-march Java circle jerks, punctuated by the odd thing I ran myself where I could pick my team, get the fucking thing delivered, and earn back a little self-respect.

And now I honestly think several of the personal projects I've single-handedly conceived, designed, coded and released in the last few years have been better than anything I ever wrote for the banks, government departments and big corporates at every level of critique.

If I'm lucky, some of these personal projects can make as much in a month as I used to make on those 'professional' projects in a day...
