It's called "shitposting" and is a very respectful activity 'round here. It is also part of my efforts at getting at least some enjoyment out of this.
Go up "eyeball to eyeball" and make PanO blink first, PanO have much less stake then Yu Jing does, the fact that PanO showing up and just taking Yu Jing's lunch money shows that anyone else can just mess with Yu Jing and get away with it.
Except PanO had the support of the entire Sphere, just as YJ had with Svalarheima and Paradiso, or with the way the powers banded together to force the end of the Neocolonial Wars.. None of the events that took place during the Uprising don’t already have some parallels in the story of Infinity. It’s simply a matter that all of the prior events took place only in background, rather than in real time.
So, something that we don't like has happened in the last month (Uprising snafu), and you proposed that instead of making it known that we don't like it, we should just roll over, be quiet and it will somehow be more like what we want?
Yeah pretty much the only upside of this whole thing as far as I am concerned has been riding the surge of increasingly hyperbolic, vitriolic shitposting, but even that's gotten boring. I think the double whammy of noncompetitive Yuandud lists and that last fuel injection of cringe-worthy fluff in the same document just shorted out my ability to care.
I don't think I'm telling you what to do anywhere there? I just don't agree with your conclusions about uprising. And as you are, I'm making my voice heard because I don't want CB to think we do agree by silence. Take a break (from yu jing), do something else for a bit and maybe when you come back there'll be stuff you like. Thats kind of how life is. Nothing is a constant ride of amazingness awesome, and just because it isn't doesn't mean its broken. All the shitposting does is spread your unhappiness around, maybe make you feel slightly better. But then someone like me calls you out and it probably pokes the old wound again.
INFINITY was literally the longest uninterrupted ride of amazing awesomeness in my life though, comfortable 4 years where it had my nearly undivided attention. Prior to that it had been 40k, Battletech and anime on rotation. Now I have upgraded my computer after a decade of neglect and from here on in INFINITY will be competing with vidya. It's an absolute tragedy.
It's not the same, though, since siding with PanO means that the balance of the sphere gets swung in favor of PanO - who is the frontrunner for human powers. The lesser powers should be interested in Yu Jing catching up to PanO (but not surpassing them) as the power void between them allows them the most freedom of action. Kneecapping Yu Jing in this context made no sense, it leaves PanO free to run roughshod over them.
Or, as it has been mentioned before, the expectation is that PanO will be countered by CA, thus justifying the need to take YJ down a peg... Problem is that, of course, CA is much more dangerous than what the Sphere knows (aside from maybe Aleph), which directs the whole setting to a bad place: one that may demand another Deus Ex Machina to avoid the CA to conquer all.
Maybe not in that post, but the volume of "wait and see" and "stop complaining" type posts by you and others is pretty staggering and, frankly, counter intuitive. It's funny that you suggest people take a break, or that you say to wait and see (really, that should be your trademark like CCP's Soon). Yet that doesn't apply to you . No, no, if you're happy with it you're allowed to go around and try to shut down disagreement - those of us unhappy with the situation haven't been trying to get the other side to quiet down, just to get them to understand why we're angry/hurt, or to convey why that's such an issue. It was said, much earlier, that this whole shitstorm would've been much smaller in magnitude if people, like you, hadn't fanned the flames.
Exactly this. Because there are no other narratives in play, it gives the appearance that the entirety of Yu Jing is in support of what is at least Ethnic Cleansing, and rapidly pushing straight into Genocide. We've already had someone drop the current international definition of what Genocide is into this thread, and the Imperial Service's and Yuandun Division's actions meet that definition. I call a spade a spade. The fact that there's no major mention of how the Secessionist actions are war crimes (at least under current Conventions, and the Concilium Conventions are even more strict that the Hague Conventions) doesn't help. Though it does parallel how things played out in Vietnam. I thought I'd already answered this question, but OK. Also, my book is still en route to me, so I don't have all the details to address yet. Since the Uprising needs to happen (and succeed) from a narrative point of view, I would add mentions of cleanup teams making sure that any time the Gray Man gets the attention of the Yanjing (that's YJ's version of the CIA, by the way), it goes nowhere. After all, the whole story of the Uprising is being told by someone who knows the details, but isn't necessarily sharing them. I would have not made PsychoCrane the spokesman, also, there would NOT have been a Journalist with him (lesson that the entire planet learned during Vietnam). I probably would have used a Bao to make that quote, as Bao are already noted to be rather loose cannons, tempted to shoot first and ask questions later. A Crane should really be much better trained than to act on the immediate anger. (Remember, Kanren are part of the Imperial Service, so Counter-Insurgency is supposed to be something that the Imperial Service in general is good at). I would have made the Iron Curtain have O12 approval as soon as it happened over Earth, set up so that as soon as the approval happened the PanO units went in. There would still be Yu Jing assets right there 'escorting' the PanO types, but once the O12 Security Council Resolution passes they need to stand down. The PanO units would have been in place well before the resolution went down, just waiting for it to be approved. I would have Yu Jing at least threaten to pull back their troops on Paradiso, just to give PanO more work to do there. Possibly even threaten to abandon their ground holdings on Paradiso. That's what I can give you right now.
I don't feel my comment brings anything to the discussion, but I couldn't let this stand: "I don't think I'm telling you what to do anywhere?" proceeds to tell the huanglong to take a break from his faction. If you're going to contradict yourself, at least do us the courtesy of putting it in separate posts.
I never expected ISS working peacefully, I like how they work: severe, using unethical and immoral ways, but at least they success. In Uprising we are shown kinda inefficient. And Yuandun division doesn't accomplish direct orders in Motobushima, they became "the butchers" giving to O12 reasons for the "Iron Wall" (that in a normal military stamens means "Court-Martial", the execution of the mutinous and the destruction and analysis of their Back-up) Their disloyal acts became one of the reasons of our fall. Changing the discussion: Hellois have given us the location of the new campaign: Dawn. There's few weeks before it will start, so we need to coordinate a common strategy if we want to prevail and save some of our remaining image (if you want to participate, but it will be very helpful).
How many times does this need to be said? You will NOT make things better by participating in the next campaign. They set them up so that your actions will NOT influence outcomes period, they will definitely not let your actions in anyway "fix" this mess. What participating CAN do though is give them a big number to look at and go "Hey look, we trolled them, made more sales AND got more community engagement? Awesome. Lets do it again!" Anyone calling for greater participation in the campaign is straight up calling for Uprising to be considered a successful major event that should become the new template by which CB designs future major events.
I understand you mate, I know what are you saying. I know our participation will not improve our position, that's the job of the Infinity writers and they look like they doesn't care about how bad they did their job. NO, and I will repeat it. I'M NOT AGREE with the narration of Uprising. And consider this awful event as a success is the WORST point of view, they just have to see how all Yu Jing community have reacted. But if we stand still we will give them more reasons to make things worse for us, and I don't want that. Anyway it's just my idea. If there's someone reaming to join us will be helpful. BUT if we want to do more drastic and call a "Playing-Strike", we should coordinate it as well. I hope we (Spanish and English forum) can have a agreement soon.
I don't have the heart to invest this time around, but I wish you the best of luck. The odds feel stacked, but as long as you and your opponents enjoy themselves, it should be worth it.
We don't necessarily need to do a playing strike on this to get CB's attention. We can just start each battle report with the same, polite statement and continue supporting the game. I don't think any of us want to hurt Infinity as a whole: we just want it to go in a better, more inclusive direction. Something like: "Corvus-Belli, please support YuJing, the pan-asian giant!" Edit: Does this need to be in Spanish so that CB will actually read it?
