Previously I have painted very shiny and new looking models, ones that have new clothes and armor, but now I've been painting a lot of WW2 and the habit of dirty things, oil paints and more natural colours stuck. So now I'm painting my new Japanese dirty, starting with Daiyokai. Badass looking model, but pain in a butt to assemble.

Because it was a nice sunny day and I've been waiting for the oils to dry, I also took WIP pictures of WIP Keisotsus. Seems like Japanese can't afford to buy new armours so dirty old ones it is.

A nice idea in my opinion. What brand/brands of oil paints do you use & what oil paints would you recommend for someone who never used them?

I used AK interactive oil washes and what I believe are Sang art & creative supplies brand of paints. A cheap set of 18 paints that costs 9.99 euros at Clas Ohlson. Some say all artist oils are the same and buy whatever, some say the more expensive ones are better and other are crap. I don't know which one is the truth.

Not everything was painted with usual oil paint technics either. After airbrushing colour and highlights, I applied a filter to the whole model then wash in excesses with a paneliner. Waited to dry. Put some oil into the palet, stabbed it to the model with a brush then stabbed it with a cotton swab to remove the excess, leaving stained look to the model. All the artist oils were applied this way. Then because the end result wasn't very white, I applied white oil paint in the same matter. Keisotsu armours are painted the same way but with no filter.
