Apparently brand new sculpts with brand new rules don't count as new for some people because they come with resculpted Nasmats.
How did you already order them? I’ve been crawling all over their site and haven’t found a way to do this. Please reveal your secrets!
A lot of retailers will put them up for preorder as soon as they're announced, distributors often have price and SKU information ahead of time. A quick gander shows the Warstore already has them up for preorder.
my friendly retailer had them up for preorder and they usually are only a few days behind the release date ... since I will be ordering some stuff anyways, I always use the preorder-possibility with those my friendly retailer is fantasywelt.de btw
One of them is the new design for the Contender (also available on the latest Shikami release.) I can't see the other one clearly, but it might be a new light shotgun design or possibly the SMG. Haramaki used to have shoulder-mounted Blitzens, in the same way that Magisters used to have shoulder-mounted miniaturized panzerfausts. Sadly I think that look is going away. Kind of unfortunate, because it was always one of my favorite designs on the "warband"-style Heavy Infantry. I for one really like the Tanko hats. I think a unified pattern for them will help the Tanko look cohesive on the table.

I'm pretty excited to see the Hakim profile. Hopefully it'll be out soon! I dunno when the street date is but generally it's about halfway through the month, of course the JSA stuff hit much earlier...
Yes, but Ryuken have 2 profiles and one of them is totally new. I don't think units in this game are so absurdly different that that level of change shouldn't count as 'new'.
If you go taxonomy on it, Haramaki and Tanko are different species belonging to the same genus. When most people say a unit is new, I think they expect the unit to belong to a different genus. Ryuken is verging on a new genus, and depending on whether JSA will get new profiles and if one of those profiles is a new Ryuken, that might be the deciding factor for a majority consensus. Tanko fill exactly the same role as Haramaki, using nearly exactly the same equipment, after all.
I'd qualify Tanko as a new unit. Less CC, less MA, less PH, new primary weapon option, new disposable weapon option, new CC weapon option, new Haris option. They do what Haramaki did, but also fulfill several new roles that Haramaki couldn't.
And less able to fill the role of being Domaru like Haramaki did. It is a net gain for them, no doubt about it.
I still see Tanko as gun platform dudes in DoTanko and Ikari mixed links. Domaru make all cool things and Tanko just walk and shoot.
Don't forget they also bring monofilament CC to the table. Their CC capabilities might seem weakened at first glance compared to the Haramaki, but Monofilament on CC22 MA2 is still nothing to scoff at.
MA1 will partially work though with the opponent modifier, yes? Just no modification to damage because of monofilament rules?
