Iss/yu jing +1 swc JSA autowin initiative roll, +4 inch deploy bonus Ca + 25 points to roster size So, your opinion about this bonuses?
I dunno. Why would they give JSA the clearly best option? They're definitely not setting them up to win the community event are they?! Of course not! ...
"So I see you wanted some narrative play and picked the Yuandun CBL to do some atrocities... whoops sorry the faction bonus is useless for you haha"
I don't think theres an event or anything linked to this. I think its like TAGline, its just some alternate rules to use for a tournament
Seeing as how all the Yandun lists bar one are all rocking >6 SWC before their special discounts, I think the bonus is baked in.
The way it works is anyone besides JSA or Yu Jing can choose to align themselves with CA and get that bonus.
Oh right, then I shall rephrase: Getting reaaaaaaal tired of all these alien-loving traitors we don't need
My opinion; Combined Army got the best bonus. 25 more points. Or an 8% increase in list power. Yu jing's +1 swc opens up some interesting options, but it seems more like compensation for lost profiles due to the split. Also considering that Infinity's point system is fairly balanced internally, I don't see bringing an extra type of a trooper swinging a list's power overmuch. (Does this mean I can bring two Sun Tze?) The JSA's auto win the initiative roll is nice, but if tables are setup well, the choice between first turn and deployment should be a real, balanced choice. However on poorly setup tables that could be a huge advantage.
Well crap, I completely misunderstood that. For some reason I read Yu Jing as +1 AVA, but it is +1 SWC. More SWC is powerfull, so ignore all the stupid things I said.
My point was more that they're clearly setting up the scrappy underdogs, those dashingly heroic Japanese to defeat the dastardly Yu Jing. Not saying there's going to be a knock on effect (although I really wouldn't put it past them at this point), just that it's yet another kick to the teeth (well, assuming that the probably massive proportional influx on JSA players will cause a landslide, which I expect will happen, but *shrug* I'm a pessimist at heart and I've lost almost all of my faith in CB at this point!)
To my taste, I think the YJ bonus is the weakest. Very rarely in a 300 point game do i find myself saying "dang, if only I had one more SWC". Very often I find myself saying "man, if only I had a handful more points, I could upgrade x, y, and z profiles to be more effective." The JSA bonus, I think, in deceptive in just how good it is. You don't need to gamble on Initiative, you can determine exactly what foot you want to start on and build definitively for that. Furthermore, an extra 4" of deployment might not seem like much, but for bikes or forward deploying ryuken I belive it's much more potent than you might think. I'd rate it at JSA and CA being roughly equivalent and YJ coming in last place.
Extra deployment means less orders getting your specialists/attack pieces (especially close ranged Japanese) up the table, as well as giving you a greater depth of defence, and potentially better options for defensive positions (so many times I've had a great position a fraction of an inch or so outside my deployment zone!)
Its just for tournaments running the Treason narrative event. Agreed with others on analysis of the JSA bonus. To me, it also seems REALLY good for the way JSA plays... it directly supports an aggressive list getting to close the gap quickly, launch a devastating alpha-strike, etc. If my vanilla YJ still had Aragotos and Shikami, I'd be incredibly jealous!
It impacts ITS only to the extent that you can play the mini-campaign as an ITS event. But the rules for it are just for the mini-campaign.
Yu Jing isn't the best defensively so JSA going first is rather obnoxious. That first mission also just makes things easier for the JSA. Daofei spitfire and Guilang minelayers should be good.
I put the extra SWC over the 25 points simply because of how the balance works. We know factually that 50 = 1 SWC. so on paper, 1 SWC is larger than 25 points. What you use those 25 points or that 1 SWC on is of course, a factor.
