Well, the particular thing you quoted was with regards to Xi and that's a continuation of TAGLine and the Backdoor events, which are both (at least so far) completely unrelated to Uprising. I mostly criticised how they handled the temporary removal in Army, so I guess that should go in the Backdoor feedback thread instead, but I'd be surprised if it hasn't already.
I have tons of saved lists on my ITS account... for even several armies I don't own. I try to see how would I make those lists, then how to counter them, and what things slot together. Considering how I use the phone for that during downtime, the lists need to be saved if I want to check things every now and then. Also, we are playing a narrative campaign on the store I play in, so sometimes I have to proxy and make illegal lists (like placing 3 Interventors, or a full remotes list... Last year, my double Mk4 HRL proxy was quite fearsome, but there went 14 campaign points). I think CB wanted to link all the Dire Foes backstory together and shoehorned it into Uprising, regardless of how a good fit it was.
This is NOT the new rage thread. Most emphatically NOT. You start that, I will report you myself. OK, thank you for the response. Thank you as well. I want the Invincible Army as soon as it's actually ready. Not before then (especially not if we're going to have to proxy a dozen profiles, I'd like some more mini support). OK, so, limited initial response says more people save lists than I thought. I'm not sure anyone saves lists locally.
I do save lists locally, but it's only because there's only 8 slots to save lists online, with 2 of those used for tournaments. I try to tidy up once in a while, but i just have too much theorical lists for faction i'll probably never play to stock them on 6 slots, and don't get me started on all my crazy ISS lists (like that one with 7swc and 4 Bao sniper).
I don't see what the point is with saved lists, having tried to use them to keep a simple (rules breaking) long term inventory of my collection I've discovered just how often Army patches completely break saved lists irretrievably. Hell there were times I saved a list simply with the plan of painting and fielding it and by, really very short, turn over to the game... unloadable. Why build more lists than you can use in a time frame in which they may randomly expire and create fatal ap crashes if you attempt to load them?
I meant that nobody in my local group saves their lists in the app. I print lists I want to save to PDF.
I have an Excel table. It is... not complete, for my safety and my continued investment in the hobby. Currently, it has number of items and unitary point costs (one item per model, no proxying unless it's a model I bought for that profile. For example, I have the Kanren Hacker as the second Danavas). And the formulas. Those damn formulas. That say to me I have nearly 5.500 points in 230 models. Of which, by my last recount, about 90 are in the painting queue. There is little I agree with WH40k's Inquisition's ideas. One I am forced to is "Ignorance is Bliss"... XDDDD
I make quite a few lists as well. Hypothetical lists for models I don't own yet. Some lists I have no intention of playing, but include models I own or want to get, just to see how the points shake up. Some lists I never play as something else grabs my attention by the time game night rolls around and it just gets overwritten. I don't believe this information is totally useless however, as there are models that would show to simply never be considered when building any of the above. It's not definitive proof of anything of course, but it's still something. Not everyone plays ITS. Despite the obvious shortcomings of relying on ARMY data, it's the best they've got.
To be truthful, they have that, the stone-cast OTM-sent lists, and sales numbers to the different stores. While, of the three, the Army is least trustworthy, it is very likely the one with more data. As an aside, the Online Campaigns should give them good data, the problem is that, as far as I remember, they want our lists as PDF files, instead of the Army code, for some reason :S
I've made a handful of lists to see what I can make with minis that are on order, and I also built a handful of lists for different stages of an escalation league, so I know what to paint. That kind of stuff.
I don't mind waiting for the sectoral, but I seriously hope we're not waiting till then to get any new profiles. White Banner, Invincible, or misc, as long as it's not another ISS model. The tap is still on for other factions with new profiles such as the Hakim, Hollow Men, and Hecklers still coming online. On the subject of army, I know a majority of my saved lists are due to special League rules such as free EXP gaining spec ops or mercs without the Soldiers of Fortune cost.
The way they've handled the events so far deters any overlap. Investing in an existing base seems preferable letting it possibly rot away.
Based on what happened with HSN2, we will see new models for existing factions starting about 6 months before the release of the book that 'officially' reveals them. IIRC, Tohaa were the last things released with Paradiso, since they were the whole-new army. Greeks were the last thing released with HSN2, as they were the whole-new army for that book.
Also please note plenty of people use ipads and there is MayaNet, which has vastly superior interface, even if it gets updates slower than Army. I do use both, but Army usually gets lists that I want to use in a tournament or at least I’m going through at the moment. As a retailer, I think the JSA will be a blast, people like it, and it also hoas the possibility to open up to Ikari. Initially I was offended by the split, then I got angry because of removing Haramaki (still think it was useless, considering the new Tankos are just renamed Haramakis. Same for Raidens. Some new stuff I like anyway. O-Yoroi will not have a (another) new sculpt in 2018 and 2019. Some changes are great. But I still feel my legs got cut as far as YJ goes. I was hoping for White Banner or IA. Both have been on the way ever since I opened the CB forums.
As a player, I'm leery of too much appeal to retailers. That was how we got WM Mk III without any public playtest.
The Mk2 Field Test was a shambles. Mk3 is steadily losing its appeal. CID was a great idea, but PP have been doing a lot of stuff wrong with it.
MKII testing and release was not shambles, it was fantastic. They did a great public field test for it. The only issue was that when they were doing the public test during MKI, sales dropped during it. They skyrocketed when MKII came out, but you have to be in a good place financially to do that kind of thing. The "Surprise! Its MKIII, have some #DesignSpace" private test was the one that was horrible and a shambles. I think thats why they are going to the "one faction/theme at a time" approach with CID (most MKIII testing), so the company can keep on running with sales of the other factions, while still providing player feedback on the tone and fairness of new/existing pieces that made early MKII so popular.
