I can't find anything clearing up a question, despite the dozens of pages already discussing Fireteams, Impetuous troopers, and how they interact. What happens if you create a fireteam at the beginning of the turn, before the Impetuous Phase, which includes one or more Extreme Impetuous troopers, who were not in a fireteam at the beginning of the turn, when the order pool was generated? I know that they become non Impetuous at that point, but their orders have already been generated. 1: Are the troopers still forced to spend them, or do the orders magically disappear? 2: Are you even allowed to create a fireteam before the end of the Impetuous Phase?
http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Fireteams_and_Fury_Characteristic I'd say no, since otherwise they would be out of the Fireteam beacuse they spent a non-regular order. Also, as written, Fury gets "frozen" whilst the model is a member of a fireteam... I'd bet, however, that the devs never considered the possibility of someone forming a Fireteam between the order generation phase and the impetuous phase XD. http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Creation_of_a_Fireteam "during the game", so yeah, you could do it anytime...
This exact situation was discussed recently in Combined Army, though froM the perspective of tactics. I’m fairly confident to say the Impetuous Orders do just go away. I think the rules team did think about the issue in fact, and I think IJW was a prime mover on the Fireteam stuff, so he’ll shoot you straight for sure. Paging @ijw
By Infinity Rules standards this is really clear. To spell out the interaction: they're non-Impetuous as soon as they're part of the Fireteam ergo they can't have an Impetuous order spent on them. You can also do this in reverse: after you generate your Impetuous orders you voluntarily drop the Fireteam. The now Extremely Impetuous troops don't have an Extremely Impetuous order to spend, and therefore don't have to run forward. If you really wanted to you could use this to hold back a total of 25 Extremely Impetuous troops in a single turn. For reference here's the last time it was answered. Edit: it probably actually maxes out at 10. Start with a Datz link (no Impetuous Orders generated) then flip to a second Datz link (become Non-Impetuous so can't have Impetuous orders spent on them). But you probably can't do it with a 3rd or subsequent link because you're still in the Impetuous phase and the ex-non-Impetous un-linked Datz did generate an Extremely Impetuous order they can now spend. But honestly, this is sooo edge case as to be basically irrelevent.
Best I get is 21 with a 23 Makhaul army including 21 in fireteam (in 300 pts). How do you reach 25 extremely impetuous fireteamed ?
5 links of 5 Datarazi flipping links with Command tokens. I'm assuming Datz are AVA Total. I never checked. Aren't all warbands AVA total, or just Morlocks? :P But yeah, as per my edit, I don't think you can actually do more than 10 using the Command token method to reform new links (ie. you have 1 link formed during the Order count, so no Impetuous orders are generated for them; then during the Impetuous phase you form link with the other 5 Datz making them Non-impetuous and ineligible to receive Impetuous orders; if you try to add more, then the previously ineligible models become eligible and you must spend the orders they generated).
This weekend I had situation when 1 Magister knight who was outside of link used his Ex. Impeteus order, and then I was meditiating if I should dissolve a link to allow 2 alive Magister to continue their movement with their impetues orders... (so breaking a link in beetwen impetues orders...)
For clarity, this wasn't actually an option: the 2 linked Magisters wouldn't have generated Extremely Impetuous orders during the Order Count, so you couldn't have spent their Extremely Impetuous orders during the Impetuous phase.
In theory they wouldn't have generated the impetuous order: http://wiki.infinitythegame.com/en/Game_Sequence http://wiki.infinitythegame.com/en/Start_of_the_Turn:_Tactical_Phase So yeah, Impetuous phase goes after the fury markers are placed.
