Hello Crew, A Tohaa fellow with symbiont armor that has a symbio mate attached is getting critically hit by a weapon with the fire trait. What happens to those armor rolls that a model needs to do perform as it is burning if the Tohaa player decides to use the mate (also because of other additional armor roles). A. The fire extinguishes because of the mate as those follow up roles are not critical hits. B. The fire armor roles need to get still rolled as they have been triggered by the critical hit. Based on this sentence from the mate description I would say B.: However, when using the SymbioMate, all Critical Attacks received will be applied as usual http://infinitythewiki.com/de/SymbioMate What is the right way to handle it?
I believe that you would take a Wound from the Critical effect, and then the remaining ARM rolls could be cancelled by the Mate. The effect of the Crit that the Mate can't ignore is the initial Wound bypassing an ARM roll. The remaining effect of "continue to make rolls until you make an ARM save" is a normal part of Fire.
The additional Rolls are part of the Fire crit: Critical hits with Fire Special Ammunition cause the target to lose 1 point directly from his Wounds/STR Attribute, bypassing the ARM Roll, and to make an additional ARM Roll. The target must keep making ARM Rolls until it reaches the Dead state or passes an ARM Roll.
... which is the exact same language used previously for the regular fire effects, except for the initial ARM roll being bypassed. In a rule set full of redundant language this one apparently isn't?
It's not redundant since without it fire crits would only do 1 wound and lose the additional arm rolls. Crits apply as usual, ie as if there was no symbiomate, so any multiple ARM/BTS roll crits still have to be rolled after the first wound goes through, so fire takes one direct wound and arm rolls until a pass, DA is one direct one roll, etc.
As cazboab says, if that text wasn't in there again for Crits, you wouldn't need to keep rolling after a Crit because an ARM Roll hasn't been failed to trigger the usual Effects of the ammo.
Could you please add an example in the Wiki, how this works with Fire and EXP? Because for some people forum posts dont matter, only what the Wiki says is true. You would do me, and maybe others a big favour.
