I can personally confirm that CB reads and acknowledges both positive and negative feedback. that doesnt mean they have to agree with you, or agree every time.

They are aware of the feedback for Backd00r. they are obviously more likely to listen to feedback that is put politely and eloquently than feedback which is "RAR, Love it, and screw haters" or "Sod CB they are the new GW"

    What's a one shot?

Was there something we were supposed to do to buy our way into the event?

Reporting events into the ITS system requires codes for events.

One-shot codes are cheap ones which allow you to report a single ITS game.

First you need an ITS pin number (free, but you need to get one)

Then you can a) buy one shot codes per game you play that want it to count for the event, or b) go to official ITS tournaments that ask for your ITS pin, where the "code" is payed for.

    Or both, that is.

I always hear this kind of thing from Warcors. Then again, this is the same crew of people that were trying to prevent people from talking about the fact that Yu Jing was split in half in online conversation spaces when it was already spelled out in Gametrade, so the echo chamber/cult effect is pretty strong. "Polite" and "eloquent" will be judged in proportion to how servile the opinion is, I think.

No, I think it will be based on how much the post implies they're a bunch of megalomaniac autocrats who want to have their boots licked, rather than people making a game who just made a controversial move which some people like and some hate.

If you can't see the arrogant condescension in your own post, in which anyone who disagrees with you is obviously a CB worshiping cultist, I don't know what to tell you. That kind of supercharged rhetoric is what I suspect people are starting to react to, and it's certainly what has moved me to defend CB+Warcors because I think the critique has turned to slander.

It's not people who disagree with me that bother me, it's people who tell me that it's above my place to voice an opinion. And that's happened repeatedly to people who had their qualms with the Uprising/JSA release.

    Sod off hecaton.

The feedback I provided was pretty critical of CBs handling of the situation all up. But because it was said well and I'm not constantly negative it means more.

Oh, I thought you had to go to official tournaments to do this. We only have those once every 3-6 months since its like $80-$100 to get a kit out here in DFW, so whoever is hosting the event is losing out unless they can bring in 20+ people.

The 25$ shipping is the only reason I haven't ordered an Aristeia! kit to try to engage the local community: with shipping, the OP kit costs more than the whole game...

Do the one shots have any swag attached to them, or is the idea that you are just doing it to pay for your faction to win?

Or, alternatively, it's easier to dismiss because you'll remain in the "supporter's club" regardless.

If it's the one I'm thinking of there's nothing physical to make it a cheap way to have an offical tournament.

Or because you’re a super special warcor dude.
The only engagement with clear, calm, enumerated points of critical feedback in the other thread has been vaguely worded ban threats. That isn’t helpful.

And before you get holier-than-thou, you’ve been far more aggressively critical of psychoticstorm within the past months than I have in the last few weeks.

I think the one you're thinking of is the Virtual tournament pack, where you get emailed a code to register a full tournament in OTM, a one shot is the same idea only for just a single game.

They don't have anything physical attached to them at all.

You just get the ITS code emailed to you.

And... yeah. The "pay to win" aspect of it HAD occurred to me, and it is a little uncomfortable. But the charges for ITS are only enough to pay for the maintenance of the system (which is fair enough) so I don't begrudge it too much.

If you want to get tournament packs a bit cheaper then try to get in contact with a local supplier to get them in for you, they can get them with their regular orders and should pass them on at cost.

For all my other criticisms of CB, the one shots are basically a nominal price and I don't think people should sweat it.

No, they have nothing attached. Yeah, they "help" your faction to win, but the ITS is kinda ELO, so winning over the same people (or new players of neutral ELO level) will give you close to nothing. If you were to win against the #1 world player on ITS with a basic account, you would climb like mad.

Funnyest thing I witnessed of this system is that our local warcor has 2 profiles: his gaming one (which he uses for everything) and his "odd-players" to avoid having a player sitting in a corner with a Bye while the other people plays. And his Odd-profile recently outranked his original one (since essentially his original profile plays little, usually in tournaments organized by others, which means travelling most of the time...) to his surprise and despair XD

Coming from a a background of having played Legend of the Five Rings I've seen a company learn over time how to do narrative events. It was story driven and every week there was a short story published on the website. Larger tournaments often had narrative prizes, like vanity cards or story decisions. But the idea was that the prizes shouldn't hurt factions or give other factions a major benefit in the game (e.g. The Scorpion might have the emerald champion but other factions would still get a unique character that expansion).

It didn't always work perfectly but keeping to the system of not trying to hurt factions and giving a bonus to losers helped create a community fanatically devoted to the story and their factions.

Backdoor did the opposite. It hurt the losers in ITS and gave a marginal benefit to the winner. I'm not a fan of that style of story prize.
