I think they've been trying to make a lot of Haris that don't use a big SWC gun. Jaguars, Kurgat, stuff like that. I've even experimented with some Wildcat Haris concepts like this. Basically the Haris needs to have something it does. That plan doesn't need to include shooting things at long range. I was thinking the Brawler Doc but if you take wounds early enough to matter your DZ doc can probably do it. So I think I'd try CSU Rifle+LSG specialist. Depending on meta maybe Breaker specialist: if you have a bunch of Ariadna a backup weapon to bypass armor could be nice. Then again with Mimetism it would still be hard to hit harder than Spector after the 3 BS spread. I'm actually interested now I might try it out.
Played a game today against JSA. Domaru and Tanko link, ninjas and robots. Hardcase was potentially my MVP, no lie. ARO took a wound off a Shikami with a Tacbow, and then killed a Domaru as well. So cheap and mean! Other than that my Tsyklon was a great shooter as always, sneaking up to deal with the Tanko Missile Launcher in the link team and thus give me more free reign. Also Uhahu got to do some decent hacking, locked a Shikami in place so a Brawler could LSg it to death, and locked a Domaru down when it tried to advance on the Hardcase. JSA really are vulnerable to hacking, having an AHD or a HD+ in ARO with Stop! is very strong. List is below, for the curious! Starco. Free Company of the Star ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 9 1 EMILY (Chain of Command) Combi Rifle + Light Grenade Launcher (Normal and E/M), Nanopulser / Assault Pistol, Knife. Yeah I am honestly torn on the LSg or the Rifle. The Rifle gets suppression, and for that cost, starting with a suppression guy in a key location is great. Plus on the active, the humble rifle can be deadly, and has superior burst and accuracy. But the LSg gives that great template that can just wreck entire squads, and the +6 to hit gives them a real edge in CQB, especially when dealing with stuff that has mimetism, camo, even ODD and suchlike. Plus the tacbow already gives a good ARO at the 8-16" range, and it's cheaper too.
So what is your verdict on the Tsyklon Spitfire vs. Feuerbach? B4 looks vastly superior on first glance, but I think there is something to be said for AP+DA in active and EXP in ARO. Spitfire means 3 spare points for an additional Zondbot on Avicenna or Irmandinho as well.
I'd take it to complement the other SK. Which for me will be usually BSG / LSG armed. So Rifle unless point limited.
Would love Tsyklon AVA to be 2 so i could take a pair of Feuerbachs with enhanced reaction on them, but alas, just the one.
Yeah, for sure. Having said that, a spitfire Tsyklon offers pretty amazing board control if placed in cover in suppression fire with MML2, especially if theres a Lunokhod nearby with a template and koalas.
Personally, I'm a fan of the Fuerbach, but both are really good. The Spitfire is more of an assault REM while the Fuerbach is more of a fire support role, more akin to a sniper.
Feuerbach also has a longer shadow on the table, so to speak. people worry about it more than they worry about a spitfire.
I like having the option to place the Tsyklon in SF. With the two visors it is extremely effective at locking down an area. I also like the Spitfire better offensively. It benefits more from the x-visor and, of course, lets you roll twice the dice.
I have been using the Spitfire version a lot in Vanilla Nomads and found it always useful, the 6-4 movement gets it up field and ready for suppressive fire easily plus it can always shoot out a pitcher in that first move too to pressure and area. Landing a pitcher at 12s is wonderful
Hitting on 12s up to 32" on targets in cover with B4 shock is pretty awesome too. Especially when you are effective from 8"-24" at 15s in cover already! Great shooter IMO.
I'm pretty keen to use one but I don't have any S4 bots. I have 3d printed and painted this thing for a different game and it's on the same base so I could use that I guess.
Perhaps for the same reasons I haven't, which is that linked or camo Spitfires hit harder, and for aggressive/defensive botiness Lunakhods exist and are way more useful IMO (different niche I know, but only so many points to spend). That said, having both in one list with Overclock is Ouch City. I love running Nomad bot-hordes and getting to use all the little buggers at once.
Nah it's a range thing: I often find that I need the 32" of a HMG in my meta. So I tend to run Reaktions as attack pieces. Also I've been playing vs a lot of Ariadna Warbands and Reaktions do well at keeping them at arms length when used conservatively. But I probably should run them again: I really do like the little murder bots. There's a couple of vanilla lists they'll go well in.
