This year I’m off to a happy start with my USAriadna. The Blackjack is finally out, so now I can play the entirety of the sectorial without any proxies (woohoo!). Over the last year I’ve written a lot of articles about USAriadna, or tactics which they are known to employ. Instead of having to scour through my blog posts, I’ve consolidated them all here for your enjoyment. I’ll do my best to keep this post updated as I create more content, so bookmark/favorite, or maybe we can pin it, it if you’d like to be kept up to date with my latest USAriadna musings. I've added an article for the Semper Fi-curious who would like to start playing USAriadna: USAriadna: Starting on the Path to FREEDOM!
What's your take on new blackjack model being 2 times the cost of other S5 models? Is this just temporary state? Or is there actually a reason to it?
Seems to be 20pts cheaper to half the cost of other S5 models as far as I can tell so I'm confused what you are getting at.
The price will remain, it's a consequence of having such a monster... look at the Maghariba, the situation is similar (but the $$$/point is closer to 1/1 there, while this is... several units of money per point). I think he's talking about the cost in currency, not in points.
Ah well in that case it obvious that is costs more...its freaking huge haha! The thing has way more metal in it than other S5 models and in my currency its only about 1/3 more. Putting one next to a Kriza or Azra'il I certainly understand its higher price.
Awesomeness doesn't come cheap. ;) If you want to be more serious though, materials aren't free. For comparison, the Blackjack weighs 86g, while a full box of Ohio weighs 44g. If you want to talk about bigger things, then the Overdron and his ton bots weigh 76g, and the Su Jian comes in at 51g for both poses combined. The Blackjack is expensive because it's massive, much like why the Traktor Muls are expensive compared to other remotes, or why the Avatar costs more than a grunt. This isn't even factoring the cost difference that the packaging makes, there's no way the Blackjack would have fit in a blister pack, Anyhow, none of this is tactics, but I'm glad if you're enjoying my articles.
I've just discovered this thread and I'm literally screaming. We did not have this in the old spanish forum. For a beginner is like finding tesseum. Awesome!
Thank you for these guides, TheDiceAbide. They are very helpful for me getting back into the USARF. Just a qick question about the ITS mission Looting an Sabotaging... it's a bad mission vor us, right? Only two unit with anti-material CC-Wapons forcing us USARF to go the specialist -› D-charge route. Any Ideas how to handle this mission?
What is a recomened list build theme for Highly Classified? With so many chances at needing Hacking or Engineering done it seems like a rough go before I even open army builder.
Just make sure you have all the things! Take a Wardriver, a Dozer, and a 112 (or two). This is probably the most difficult ITS scenario for USA, so be sure to practice it a few times first. Remember that your opponent has to do most of the same things, so while you're trying to get a few points (whichever are easiest), you should also be focusing on killing the specialists your opponent requires to accomplish the same tasks, using surprise shot forward observe from foxtrots to send guided katyusha rounds into their only engineer will help even the footing. Of the 3 major specialists I mentioned, only the Wardriver is out of place from many of my normal lists anyhow, so it's not that huge of a change to add in for insurance, and I would probably just go for the defensive hacking device.
Honestly? I just wouldn't play USARF in a Highly Classified mission (or even Looting and Sabotaging, at least until the new Character comes out), but I know this is not really good advice as not everyone has the luxury to swap armies. It's the same with my Bahram in a non-Spec ops tournament. Only my Tohaa feels like they can do whatever.
Off topic, just wanted to mention that I feel Bahram is in a better position to try to take out some specialists early making it more even tbh. But vanilla haqq or something surely has more tools for that mission.
agree with everything you said (dice abide) this mission is a hard one for us. we dont really have versatile specialists and the wardriver can be necessary even though its not a normal take for USARF lists. You draw classifieds before choosing your list though.. so in a tournament you can take a list with a wardriver and one without and depending on the draw you may not need the list with it.
I play USARF and don’t have much trubble with ether loot & sabotage or highly classified. L&s you can pull d charges panapolies with specialist. Just run a fox trot up to it. Grab charges and recamo. unknown ranger counts as a specialist so he can pull em as well. Maverick fo is great for a 3 turn rush with d charges Highly classified just means you bring a hacker. Not much else is a problem in the deck for us. Other factions do have it easier but it is winnable for all of Ariadna
Our unknown ranger doesn't need the d-charges from the panapolies actually... his T2 CCW counts as anti-material so he can start whack the enemy ac2 from the get go (unless i remember the rules wrong).
You are correct but the antennas have armor 8 and his physical is 13. Odd are they will, pass armor rolls. D charges are AP+EXP so more likely to damage it. I also run my devil dog up hoping to get exp cc weapon out of the panalopy
