Minutemen are just bleh, SOF goes further to making them useful with access to great doctors, but BS13 SI relative to BS12 MSV1 Dogged just doesnt cut it for me. particularly when the BS11 SI are the line troops, if Im not taking grunts its because I want a different aspect to the link and the BS13 doesnt change the behvaiour enough in my opinion.....still thats on paper and mormaers suck on paper and rock socks off on table so maybe I should give a few minutemen profiles a go sometime. Doesnt help I hate the flamer pistols model though
That was not the point... Can you deploy 10 HI troops in a single list? YJ sure can, and have to spare. PanO... would need to place Orcs XD
People should consider ORCs anyway. High bs high arm HI with good weapons for relatively cheap. But people group think
ORCs, like Brigadas, suffer the "there are cheaper options that do the job" and "there are pricier options that do the job better", so... Infinity Syndrome -.- Both would improve with a Dúo (ORCs) and a Haris (Brigadas)
There arent actually cheaper options for the job. Not in vanilla and certainly not in the secrorials. The hospitallers are ava 1 in vanilla and arent actually significantly cheaper than the ORC even with the frenzy discount And thats not even talking about the opportunity cost of not taking a hdoc for that ava1
You can also make a 10 HI list with JSA, but it is pretty bad because it has very few long-range weapons and almost all the models are easly hackable. Also, you only get a couple of Specialists, at most.
If you dismiss Pan-O 10 HI lists because of ORCs, then you also need to dismiss YJ 10 HI lists because of Shang-Ji (a.k.a. Chinese ORCs) Btw, Pan-O HI AVA is 16 while Yu Jing is 21 after Uprising JSA HI have one of the game's most cost-effective long range options in the game and the sectorials absolutely best long range option. Tanko ML outclasses the O-Yoroi and essentially all ARO models at long range sufficiently that a Domaru Spitfire can pick up the slack at shorter range. Additionally, the models aren't much more easily hackable than other HI models out there - if you can identify the threats and navigate accordingly they are almost impossible to hack compared to fireteams with Tinbots since all JSA HI have Stealth (with the exception of Karakuri, whom have higher BTS) while very few other HI can say the same. JSA is one of few factions who can currently make a functional all-HI list (even if they lack basically 20 points to make it workable in 300pts ITS - 'cause less than 2 specialists is a bit... iffy)
Still, YanHuo, Zhuyong, Hsien, Hac Tao, Daofei, Wu Ming, Su Jian... (and Shang Ji, which I wasn't even counting XD) PanO gets Swiss and Aquila, the Orcs, and the MO knights (where most of the PanO HI are located). In Vanilla Vs Vanilla they can reach that 10 modesl with ease. In sectorials, however, I'd say that MO are the only option (Neoterra and Acon go down to 2 HI plus Orcs), while ISS loses three-4 types from Vanilla only (Daofei, Hac Tao, Shang Ji, Yan Huo).
ISS has such high AVA of Cranes that Cranes and Wu Ming alone makes 10 AVA. Question is; at what point limit are we talking about making an all-HI list? Ariadna can do it at 300 points since their HI are much more like high-end LI or mid-end MI than actual HI, but for Yu Jing and Pan-O (and their sectorials) you kind of need to get to 400 points. Yu Jing used to be able to make a somewhat playable 10-HI at 300 points, but that relied on using Haramaki and Domaru to fill out the ranks. I think that what people really expect (pronounced "want") from IA is a force where you can actually field a fully functional 10-man HI army at 300 points without having to forego heavy weapons and specialists (only having to forego the really spicy HI like Yan Huo). I don't think that's going to happen because Zuyong aren't all that cheap and they are as close to barebones as you can get and Yu Jing, just like Pan-O, seem to be allergic to decent engineers and doctors and even then the Gong-Cheng/Yisheng equivalent in HI would cost 29 to 31 points (depending on whether they get Breaker Pistols or not). Until we see IA, JSA is the closest we can get, however. Ummm... what's this thread about again?
My part was about "shaking the meta for shaking's sake is not inherently good for the game", by suggesting ITS extras of the "armored elite insertion" kind (Limited Insertion HI only with 10 points discount to all HI troops) :p
Well, personally I had a blast. It was fun organizing events and getting people to play. Our community is small down here, so "Events" mean food, drinks and lots of stories (Infinity and non-Infinity related). People are adverse to change. It's a survival skill older than our civilization; which is why I don't antagonize or comdemn people who got upset by recent changes. From my point of view, Corvus Belli tried to do something to keep their player base engaged and advance their Narrative. That some didn't like it, was simply expected (like I said, an ancient survival skill). But I give credit to them, at least they try. I only had ONE Yu Jing player, and he only plays JSA (Guess what his reaction was to the Uprising?). Now I have two players independently raising a Yu Jing army because both want to play ISS. Yu Jing is on the Spotlight. Everybody is talking about it, people who had no interest in them are now looking into it, and getting interested. This is a positive among the sea of negativity. So, yeah, we liked B4ckd00r Crisis a lot down here in Panama (and have people hyped and speculating about the Campaign). Oh and I forgot! TARIK IS INNOCENT!!!! #supportcaphaqq, #4fat2
Nah, he's guilty of Caskuda-cloning into small delicatessen and the smuggling of such products to Ariadna XD
How did you...*ahem* I mean, there is no evidence linking The Amir of the Kawarij with that particular venture. It's all Fake News propagated by PanOceania's Hexahedron. (when in doubt, always blame the Hexaedron)
The Hexahedron always makes entirely truthful statements, and the manner in which you choose to interpret any unintended and coincidental ambiguity is not the responsibility of the Hexahedron, and even less so the Inner Hexahedron.
@daboarder is there a reason I'm not seeing that makes Mormaers ever worth taking over Vet Kazaks? Also I like the look of the Minutemen Core, I was thinking about getting a force based off them. They're super basic but you know that's not bad. Like Wildcats but better and with a no SWC mid range profile. Of course Wildcats fill niche roles that I don't know Minutemen would, and DZ DTW is less valued in Ariadna. So I don't know.
Vanilla? Not sure maybe not. But I know in CHA every game I have forked out for them and run them they have been an absolute roadblock to my opponent. I've seen them tank order pools and punish people for trying and I've seen them get cut down to the last survivor who is tough enough that even without link bonuses ypu cant just ignore that t2 rifle. Bs13 t2 that his on 10s out to 32 arm8 are a lot tougher on table than they appear on paper
in Vanilla I think they may still have a role but....between blackjacks and Vets im not sure if its one worth mentioning overmuch. namely as a tough, ARM8 AP HMG or T2 supression fire platform.
