I knew there was a reason I liked the Hakim's look. I can probably make Denison style camo fit my Haqqislam.
Otoh, bashis have winged backpacks, and yet... Granted, I expect modern designs to be more consistent.
The new ones do. So much I was suspecting them to get AD L3+ when the concept art turned up. Well, as everyone can see, that prediction didn't come true. The original (2ed) didn't.
Anyone remember that really stupid Final Fantasy Spirits within movie? I remember literally nothing from it except the opening scene where the armoured soldiers were para-dropping into this deployable jello thing. Probably too advanced technologically for Haqq but a fun concept to keep in mind.
What's with the Nasmats? As happy I am about the new models don't they would need special equipment for airborn deployment like the Tomcats drone has?
Perhaps, they will? Chances are, Hakim box coupled with many ghulam models we have will replace old support box. If so, these remotes could be labelled "nasmats" because they will be universal stand-ins for G:Servants of ours. Also, wasn't one of them labelled as "engineer" on pics anyway?
Yes one Nasmat is labeled Engineer and put in the box with the Medical Corps....so...that has me all confused. We know this is coming as a box with 2 Hakims, and 2x Nasmats (1x Eng, 1x Doc). Unless Hakims have an Engineer profile (which would be weird considering the name) that will be a bit confusing. Also yes I believe they will have Parachutist as the tank on the back and face mask, plus padded clothing for cold, this all leads pretty easily into the belief of parachutist.
Both the Nasmat sculpts in the render are the doctor version. I think the dossier is just showing what the engineer version of the updated design looks like too.
All the assistant remotes tend to have a separate Doc and Engineer versions. At the very least, differing with the tool hand. Not that it makes any difference in-game.
I expect them to be an AD L2 doctor+ for around 20 points like the Jaegger (the backpack/oxygen tank on their back) is the same. Also, regular troops because makes more sense to Ramah (no irregulars so far in the sectorial). Perhaps they can be folded and carried like a backpack? They remind me to the helper bots of the podrace in SW Episode 1 (Hit them in the nose!)
Don't know if this has come up yet, but has anyone noticed "HEKIM" is on the back shoulders of the Janissaries sculpt?
Next month this time around. If we are lucky, we see the profiles earlier. I guess next week well see the preview.
I am pretty pumped to see what they are like myself, a bit more AD capability in Haqq will be cool, and if they are Haqq-style Tomcats that'd be totally awesome. I'm kind of hoping that RTF get's a regular style ADL4 troop and the Hakims as well, that'd be cool. Having them as the faction's "AD" Sectoral like Corregidor is for Nomads would be pretty ace.
Hekim is Turkish for doctor, the Jans are from the Sultanate which is styled on the Ottoman Turks. Hakim is an Islamic title with several meanings from what my limited research found. The relevant one is as an archaic term for a polymath with interests in science, philosophy, and medicine. We have some more learned members of the community, who likely can more accurately explain the nuances.
I hope they will be irregular, if just to bring down the point cost maybe even to Hunzakut levels. Irregular on an AD specialist isn’t so much a liability as you will most likely be spending orders on it to accomplish a mission, or die trying anyway. Unlikely though, the Hekims look too well equipped to be irregulars.
But not impossible. Irregular doesn't have to be "a savage from the hills" (with adequate equipemnt), it may be someone who is not drilled well enough to work as a part of a regular army. Case to the point, PanO's TechBee...
That is very true. I’m actually now thinking of how to fit the Hekim in a vanilla Haqq list. I originally thought he would be a replacement for the Ghulam Doc in Tarik lists, but the more I think of it, the more I think no. Still need the Ghulam Doc to babysit the Djan HMG, which I always bring in Tarik lists. The HMG+Smoke trick helps in clearing AROs to free up the board for Tarik Super jumping shenanigans. Hekim’s role is different, perhaps i’ll treat him as an objective grabber with the back up ability to revive Tarik if needed. I really hope the Hekim is AD2 or better and not just AD: Parachutist though. One problem I had using the Tuareg Doctor was that sometimes due to the whims of battle, Tarik simply falls in an inconvenient location for the Tuareg to revive. Just parachutist on the Hekim might present the same problem in the sense you kinda *lock in* Tarik’s area of operations right from the deployment get-go, but AD2 does give much more flexibility.
