Oh those are nice. I don't even mind the panhat. I was going to NOT buy Domaru, (waswgoing to proxy Mobile Brigada) these look like they would go so well together I have no choice.
Really hope these have alternate heads. How can they see where they are going half the time? MIght even convert them to be helmetless.
Well Yuchineros, happy now? Of course you are. Your faction has been spared the shame of having such minis in it. How does the joke go, "A wok, a lampshade, and a cake pan walk into a sushi bar..." Seriously, if this is what the JSA will get, and with the Daikyoku-- flumph head-- it seems that it is, Yu Jing is lucky to be rid of the JSA. Now CB, finish the job. Release the IA at GenCon along with a few excellent minis. Estaréis disculpados. Q: What's worse than 3 HI minis in a box? A: Three HI minis and a tinbot.
Have to say I like the new Tanko, they look quite menacing and I don't mind the hats at all...even though they might get a bit excessive if you use Hat Musashi, Hat Daiyokai, Hat Tankos and hat Shikamis all in one list :-P
They look ARM 5 and MOV 4-2... My Haramaki will do the job it seems. In the concept, they look good (like many other new HI), but somehow, every recent HI "gains a few pounds" when it turns into a figure. I miss the elegant and sophisticated look of HI. Nowdays, everything moves more towards spacemarine esthetics, rather then towards original cyberpunk/anime esthetics. :/
I think about idea to buy some assembled/primed Haramaki and convert weapons and a bit armor to match current loadouts. Maybe could mix heads between old and new models
I think the paint job does a lot about the size effect...Kusazuri and Sode are paint like metal plates but it's just some bluff et decoration...The sculpture of these elements does not pay homage to their traditional models True...
Love the hats even more now I've seen them painted. If you google 'traditional Japanese hats' you can clearly see where the inspiration has come from and I think they've been realised brilliantly. I'm expecting a female sculpt with one of the taco hats, that would be amazing.
I do like them but yeah... the hats are... hmm... Space samurai are cool in a way, but I like Infinity because of the post-scarcity, cyberpunk, futuristic aesthetic. Leaning more and more toward simply letting the Japanese go and focusing on Yu Jing. While their agents have some traditional attributes here and there it's more well done and not as in your face (or on your head!) as JSA. Also, I kind of hope that the weird pistol looking thing is a new light shotgun. Looks like it's designed for HI, which would make sense.
The hats are probably sensor arrays, can't spend precious miniaturisation technology to those wannabe samurai now can we?
