So I saw this thread in the CA thread and thought it'd be interesting to see peoples thoughts: What sort of changes or new units would you like for our faction and sectorials in the future? For instance I am really curious about what sort of changes the MRRF are going to get once they finally get rereleased. For one thing I think they might get some additional profiles or units with Forward Deployment, AD and/or Mechanized Deployment to further empathize their rapid nature. For instance I would love to see a reduction in the SWC tax on Zouaves. Other than that I would love for there to be additional Ariadnans with Grenades, maybe even introducing new kinds of grenades like Fire Grenades.
Well, when TAK roll I'm pretty sure most of the things I want (line kazaks link, special fireteam of line + veteran etc) are probable, but there are one or two that are never going to happen, like the RM100 and dog warriors on bikes... I'd like to see a Russian version of the blackjack a lot.
My wishes are rather modest at the moment: Give V:NWI to the Mormaer and the AP HMG version needs a resculpt. U.S.Ariadna needs a Camo gunner like the Cateran or the Scot Guard. Resculpted Vanilla starter and Vet Kazak resculpts in general. The Grey Rifles need a SWC Box.
New Kazak models would be great. I'm still hoping for a linkable medium infantry for them. I'd like to see a rework for all 1 wound Ariadnan heavy infantry to get NWI. As it is now just about all of them are outclassed hard by other MI choices or vet kazaks. Minutemen and Moblots could especially use this upgrade. I'd like to see mormaers get it too. A huge one I think needs to happen is the devil dog needs to get access to regular grenades. He's the only Dog warrior unit that doesn't get them.
I'd like for FRRM to get some resulpted models while we're waiting, just a couple of blisters would be nice as everythings so old. Chasseurs, Zouaves Para-commando's would all be pretty good and also decent for vanilla players. a new Loup-Garou box would also be appreciated, and an actually box of Moblots would be fantastic so i can actually field a link of them.
Me, basically. The faction's in good state and the two sectorals (not counting FRRM) have a real flavour thta I'd be wary of adding anything to them that makes them too generic. I'll settle for more resculpts and an updated FRRM list.
I'd love a doctor unit that had a syringe full of Antipode DNA... works like Doctor, except you can spend command tokens to re-roll even on people without a cube, but instead of being revived as themselves there's a dog-warrior profile they come back with (unarmed, of course).
I am going to second NWI for the Mormaer as well as the re-sculpt for the AP HMG version of it. And also second the Highland Greys getting a box of re-sculpts...they have really ugly models besides the new on in the Caledonia box. I would like a re-sculpt of the Cameronian. Not because I don't like the old sculpt but because I want another Dog Face in a kilt. A box set like the Dog-Warriors would be awesome honestly so I can max AVA and have 3 different models.
I would like to see more antipodes with the kazak sectorial. Maybe an antipode/human duo working like the devil dog but with a kazak skirmisher (a scout like troop) and both being camo. No specialist profile but a good range of short range weapon (boarding shotgun, AP or maybe T2 rifle...) If not, at least a duo with both troop in the same base (like Voronin but S3), spetzsnaz stats, camo, MA 2 or 3 and guard 2 to make it a SK specialized in CC. Regarding the HI other than the vet kazak, some improvement need to be made to make it a real choice to use the kazak or one of the other in vanilla. Not an obligatory NWI for all but some distinctive feature that would make them a true hard choice between them and the vet Don't think the USAriadna need improvement, the theme with LI camo skirmisher and MI/HI non-camo shooter seems good. And finally, a reworked Merovingian faction.
Yeah but realtalk, only the Mormaer and veteran kazaks are really heavy infantry, everything else is high end medium or a light TAG in all but name... I don't think we'll see this addressed any time soon, but I really hope I'm wrong, and the next book drops veteran l2 on the Mormaer, or at least NWI on its own.
While they are classified as HI, they give me more an MI feel : short range equipment, mid-strengh armor... so I'm not shocked at having them without NWI but with only dogged
Is TAG a typo? If we are talking about things like briscards and greys ofc. Other than that, Wulvers are close to HI, except they trade saves for not being hackable/EM-vulnerable, courtesy of countibg as WB.
TAG isn't a typo, I was referring to the Blackjack. It's kind of weird how big the gap in Ariadnas heavy infantry is, we go from the top end of medium infantry to the (quite distant) bottom end of TAG(though still apparently organic) with only a tessium plated chieftain and an old Russian in between...
@cazboab Well, I think that rule-wise, Blackjack is nowhere near TAG. It's below other S5 HI in terms of resilience, and doesn't have mobility to perform assaults, TAG-style. I think it being HI is fairly accurate. Now, Briscards, Greys, Mormaers... Yeah, those aren't as resembling of HI. But the direction is opposite.
@Barrogh , yup, the short version is the model is way better than the rules of a lot of Ariadna units, and the blackjack is the absolute exemplification of that....
I agree that it should have the TAG designation. Not really because it's a highly mobile assault unit, but because it isn't... Being HI means that big brick can go prone, cautious move, and dodge like nobody's business, which doesn't make much sense for a lumbering slab of armor and guns.
@TheDiceAbide it's also able to be healed by a paramedic or doctor, which is slightly ridiculous, unless the 112 chops him out of the armour first then bandages him back into it...
Having just got into the game with the Caledonian Sectorial, I'd like to see new Wulver sculpts, more variety with Cameronians, and more Mormaer resculpts.
To be fair, it's the same for most S5 HI roadblocks, especially Haqq ones, who just love to heal them. And don't get me started on using medikit on those, ranged one. Although I prefer building rules around gameplay rather than something making fluffy sense or not. Well, there are currently more wulvers than you'll ever need. On the other hand, Cameronians would be welcome.
