Hey everyone, recently played looting and assplodding with my friend. He took Haq and gracefully slashed my console to pieces after I denied mu my army as target practice with his fiday. I took ASA ran I to a heck of a challenge... and ultimately lost. QUESTION: Do you have to roll for ccw if you are planting d-charge on the antenna? Rules for deployable says that it is auto success, against scenery or immobile target. The scenario rules say that you need to roll ccw attack vs the console. What day think?
This probably should have been posted in the ITS sub-forum. https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/its-9-question-and-answer.469/
Frankly, that is pretty strange ruling. It is a "to the letter" thing, but otherwise you'd think placing D-charge should be allowed explicitly...
It's a "the scenario works that way, nothing else matters", like the Posthumans interaction with Hunting Party and the Datatracker position.
I understand that. I'm just not sure why it was designed that way. Post-humans are understandable balance-wise, and can be explained away by "only one body has that GoPro".
Everything else has to make a roll to hit the AC2, maybe it has some kind of passive defensive system that will prevent a D charge being placed. Even something like armoured plates on hinges would do it, as soon as the charge is placed open the hinge so that the directional portion of the charge is pointed away from the console, and the radial blast will be further away... The same plates move about when you try to hit it with a CCW acting as shields...
Makes sense, but wouldn't 2 orders per attempt to blow console up offset that, especially considering most things that are good at chopping things are also very good at hitting CC Attacks on normal roll? To be honest, background explanation is my secondary (to put it mildly, and also because my poor vocabulary doesn't allow me to express something along the lines of "99-ary") concern.
2 orders for a guaranteed hit, when potentially a unit can fail to hit multiple times, although you can get an auto hit very easily with most things that are capable of hurting the AC2... It's a very odd ballance to be sure, it would maybe be better idea if the AC2 had electric pulse style 'always scored a 7' rule since even with the CC monster units hitting on 26s will still be able to fail to damage it... As far as background explanations, in highschool my Chemistry teacher used to say 'if you don't have the brilliance to blind them, find some bullshit to baffle them'...
Yeah duct tape is one of the many things that only Ariadna produces, along with coke and microwave popcorn...
