Speaking of community engagement, why have we not received an apology? This has been a negative experience for many Yu Jing players, and the Shikami situation is absurd. Instead of sympathising with a playerbase that they've just taken things away from, we're being told it's for our own good and that it should excite us. "Making room for new units" is jarring to hear as there's no logic or precedent for it. What I've realised is this feels a lot like a pushy sales tactic. If you don't admit that you've done anything wrong then you can just plow on and ignore the complaints. I've caught myself browsing through the ISS units before stopping myself and realising that I didn't actually want to play ISS, I want to play Vanilla (and eventually IA), but the gaps that have appeared in the lists that I can run almost require me to buy more products. The fact that the closed battle lists will be ISS, who weren't affected by the split, and not Vanilla is just further disappointment.
Never expect those, enjoy the ones that are freely given. I'd bet there is a fan of Gibbs and his "never apologize, it makes you look weak" rule in the company XD. There is a reason some comparisons have been made between the Uprising book and something called "Codex" from the miniature world... -.-U This not only is a disappointment for YJ. First, the CBLs have yet to be released (I hope it will be before the Dawn campaign...) and second, if they are going to be for existing sectorials instead of being for Wave 3 sectorials (because the PanO one was from Svalarheima, not Varuna nor any of the existing sectorials) then... well, they can save the effort, because people won't feel very interested and it will lead to a "CBL's are not what people want" final conclusion (ignoring the "CBL's of what we already have are not what people want").
Oh, but they gave the moderator a character based on himself, you can't expect objectivity from hin after they paid him SO GENEROUSLY (note the sarcasm), so he is CB's pet forever
If you are talking about RPG characters, the backers paid for those. Also, I'd like to point out that a Moderator in a forum is not an arbiter, just someone who locates people breaking the rules of the forum and applies the agreed penalties, which in most cases are "no sale, unless a parnter, behave in your posts and leave the Off topic for that subforum" So the mods have as much right as any of us to state their agreement or not with CB's actions/polities, and are, if "transmitting the official position" a way of doing so without a "word of god" argument, so let's keep the "moderator" part out of this and stay civil, lest the thread gets closed, which would be a shame because a lot of good ideas and observations in all directions have been posted here.
An Apology from CB? Yeah, no. They think people complaining about Yu Jing are just harcore haters who can never be pleased. They will even laugh at us and tell us how this is a great opportunity to "role-play" our anger. And unlike other people, I think they fully expected the negative reaction and simply didn't care because JSA was going to cover them in money.
LOL. Is this real life? Once again, LOL I don't want to call you stupid like you did to many people with that post, but surely you know what internal consistency and suspension of disbelief is, right? The fact that something is sci-fi or fantasy doesn't mean you can do whatever you want.
What the mod doesn’t have the right to do is insult anyone who disagrees with the greatness of the fluff in uprising by saying they’re too stupid to understand it.
I asking for help again, because I do not understand what it means. https://www.infinitythegame.com/blog/news/item/488-discovering-secrets-an-infinity-narrative-guide But more importantly, for those unable to access the Infinity: Uprising book, we explain how the Wotan campaign events lead to the Japanese Uprising. What is the point in the campaign, if the players can not make any changes and all of it leads to an Uprising? I, like a YuJing player, must play campaign to choose, how exactly I will lose a third of my models and how background of my faction turn into a wretched parody?
The canon!Wotan events are very loosely based on the playercampaign!Wotan ones, I'd say. That's why I suggested in the previous page to change the format so the playerbase generates resources (victory, Tournament and Objective points) for official strategists to spend into achieving objectives, or to let people who has provided with X of each vote in what should those resources be spent.
The problem is, and has always been, that the background writing sometimes reads more like fan fiction than like actual canon. I'm not bashing Gutier here or anything; it's just the way it is. The editing is sloppy, the grammar is atrocious (in Spanish at least), and it falls for every cliché that is available. You know, I didn't know YJ was the "bad guy". I thought it was all a bit grey, with the CA being the obvious baddie... But as of late, more and more effort seems to be taken to turn YJ into the bad guys, and that is ridiculous. They are rivals por PanO, which hardly makes them "evil", especially considering that PanO is a capitalist nightmare. Also, like some of you have said: it would be nice (or not even nice, just polite) of CB to issue maybe not an apology (although that would be great), but an explanation, a rough outline of what are we to expect for YJ. And yes, I'm sure that when the IA arrives it will be great and all of that, but the core of the matter is precisely in that WHEN. Because if it is next year, quite frankly, that's not good enough and it would make me agree with those who say that this company sometimes functions like a bunch of amateurs that got lucky but now nothing about business and/or treating the clients in a fair way. MIND I'm NOT saying I agree with that; clearly it takes more than luck to reach the level of popularity that CB enjoys now. But if anything, they should learn from other companies' mistakes. As of now, it seems that rather than doing that they are enthusiastically jumping in every PR puddle they can imagine, and even more enthusiastically creating more and more puddles everytime they obliquely address the issue (since they haven't even deigned to directly address it). So yeah. Not holding my breath, though.
+1000 to that, specially the fan fiction issue. Seriously, if there are people really thinking Infinity fluff is well written, i highly encourage you to read some real books.
Well, be cannot rewrite the books, we must have the hope to see how Yu Jing will rise again. So we must to know wich plan we will have in the next campaign, because it is very closer. At my point of view we must encourage defend our bases and have a debate/discuss about wich enemy we must stack, and we must know wich faction is our enemy inside the narrative of the campaign.
All in at JSA. No mercy, no descuss, complete bulling of JSA players. Give them hell proud Yu jIng warriors! Oh and we must punish PanO for their stupid mistake.
Look, making a bad product isn't really grounds for an apology, not least because it's subjective. That's taking it a bit far, really. Besides, the best "apology" for a bad product is delivering a great product next time around, wouldn't you say?
I have no issues with the product release. The JSA starter looks great. I've not read Uprising so I can't confirm that it's a "bad product", but the discussion in this thread has made me decide that I won't be buying it. This is about the way Yu Jing players (aka Corvus Belli's customers) have been treated. Read my previous post for some examples. I think there's one clear answer of who to attack first, but when the time comes we shall pick our battles wisely. Look to The Art of War for tactics and The Book of Five Rings for strategy.
