I see what you did there but goblins can be S5 you know. Sci-fi universe and all the dna bio engineering mumbo jumbo. Don't we have werewolfs?
Except for Varuna being tacitly confirmed... It looks very much like Vedic and TAK at gencon and Varuna in November is most likely. Not sure if that's the best option(Not bad in itself, just limiting later) but it's looking more like the one we'll get...
I'm still kinda hoping that PanOceania WON'T get our 4th Sectorial while Yu Jing only have 1. We might, but I hope we don't.
Yeah, even if we did get TAK Vs EI, then technically ariadna and CA go to 4 each, but Shasvastii and FRRM are practically not in the game atm, given they will both be reworked extensively. However you view that, we've pretty much gotten an iron clad "not yet" on the YuJing sectorials at least until Christmas, which is going to sting some when anyone is getting more sectorials...
Yeah, the more I think about it the more uncomfortable I get about the whole thing. I just hope Invincible Army ends up being AWESOME. Because I know that Varuna (whenever we get it and however much it is hurt by "PanO can't have nice things") WILL be awesome.
I'm hoping for many HI links with second tier specialists, backed up by a few(more than the propaganda admits, but not enough to be the backbone) LI dedicated specialists to keep the power suits working... It's true but you shouldn't say it...
Thinking about shasvastii sectorial I had an idea. Twin box with starting armies, French Ariadna vs Shasvastii.. Space Frog eaters VS frog aliens. Definitely something to look forward.
I mean, that's true... ish. It'll be MORE true once PanOceania gets Varuna. And it'll be basically completely true once PanO gets Svalarheima. Right now Vanilla is about putting together special combinations of units (actually, largely cheap stuff like Regulars and Auxilia) along with the power of the Nisse and Swiss, or maybe a TAG which doesn't match the LI. That's... a bit of a narrow niche.
Voted for the ones I'm hoping for, Vedic and Ramah. The reasoning being a selfish one, I have two friends who are very interested in starting with those factions and that would make it easier for me to gently "push" them into our hobby.
I think Varuna is something PanO need, and have always needed, to round them out thematically and make them less European. With the SAA having a relatively small number of profiles, NCA having some very European style troops, and MO being in many ways poster boys and girls for PanO, their South American/Indian/Oceanian/Indonesian flavour has always been a bit diluted. Varuna will go a long way to rebalancing that, I have always thought between that and a couple of cool SEA troops for SAA you'd instantly make PanO a lot more interesting thematically on the tabletop.
There's always this pic from the Garuda release... I'm taking this as a hint at where we're going for the next two-player box release.
I limit my hobby budget as much as I can to remove redundancy and waste. So planning ahead helps. There's some very interesting board game related kickstarters on now and I just lost some money to Iron Harvest. I hate knowing sectorials are coming but not what. Yes we as speculators are 85-90% sure that it'll be vedic vs TAK but what if CB pulls a last minute surprise? Did the majority of us really see the extent of the Uprising implications coming? If it's not Vedic in the box, I'm not buying. So come Gencon, did I miss out on that kickstarter for no reason? Alternatively I jump on the KS bandwagon for the boardgames and video games now and get what I want for a cheaper price(s). But then if the sectorial I want comes out later, I'm shit out of luck :/ Yes the box will be around but the attached pre-order bonus won't be. And the HVT didn't matter in operation ice storm but red veil and the beyond boxes all had actually useful bonus miniatures. I didn't get it myself but I know several people that picked up the JSA box now because they wanted that spec ops unit to use. That Yuan yuan I thought I would never use is now joining his fat friends in my new merc lists. The bonus miniatures are no longer frivolous and unnecessary so I feel like missing out on them hits hard. It's almost a guarantee of $AUD15 you're going to have to spend later for a similar model. So yeah... I genuinely hate uncertainty. It doesn't build hype for me. Just irritation :(
